Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Suedonim I'm glad you are both home safely. Usedtobeblonde enjoy your meal with your dgd.
I had a pleasant morning with a friend. We had breakfast at the local garden centre and then looked at their Christmas stuff. Afterwards I headed to Tesco for bits and pieces. I've got all the washing done but had a lazy afternoon. My stomach has been a bit dodgy today, so I'm relaxing.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 09-Nov-24 18:43:09

I’m so wrapped up in my own thoughts and anxieties lately I’ve just realised a I read through that I never comment on any of your posts dear Kitcheners these days. I hope I’m forgiven. x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 09-Nov-24 18:45:29

P.s. not that it matters, but re-reading my earlier post you’d maybe think we sat at the garden bar for hours! We enjoyed a drink and a read for just over an hour …. 😁

Good news sued. I’m sure you were both relieved and delighted.

Enjiy your meal usedtobe, I’m sure a lovely relaxed evening ahead.

Mr C says can he come to tea granmarie. He loves steak pie, definite wifely dereliction of duty here. I don’t cook anything I don’t eat, haven’t eaten a steak pie for years and yet I used to enjoy them. I know. Seriously odd.

Looks a very relaxing spot FGT, so pleased you’re both making the most of your happy place.

Snap redcar. OxyContin is also a no no for me. It shot my BP through my boots, the nurses got tired of picking me up from the floor and I was banned from moving for 24 hours. A very lucky soul, my post surgery pain levels were moderate and easily manageable. Pure fluke.

A hug and flowers for soop and of course for you all

Have a good evening everyone. Feet up in front of Strictly here.

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Nov-24 18:49:18

I’m groaning at the blueness of that sky FGT after the continuous grey here.
Pleased for you he’s home SueD, I hope Mrsoop will be soon.
Have a lovely time neine, your home from home does you well.
Enjoy your meal with your granddaughter utbb precious times.
We’ve had a lazy day, MrJ now spluttering, nose blowing and sneezing whilst I cough - marital bliss 🙂
My daughter and Imogen called in, just for a chat..and a request to have the youngsters here for a night nearer Christmas.
I was going to make a chicken dish for dinner - Indian being delivered, good for colds honestly!

brook2704 Sat 09-Nov-24 22:40:51

Pleased to hear your DH is home now SueD time to rest and recover ❤️
Hopefully you’ll be home soon too Redcar sending a gentle hug
FGT no need to comment on individual posts, just being here amongst friends is all that matters
We ended up being out all day today, we went shopping and enjoyed a walk by the river this morning and then unexpectedly met DD2 for a late lunch in town. Tonight we went out looking for the northern lights but no luck this time. I’ve just finished watching Strictly on catch up so off to bed soon
Hope you both feel a bit better tomorrow Jax

Usedtobeblonde Sat 09-Nov-24 22:42:22

We had a lovely meal at a very good pub, more a restaurant really.
Lovely decor and exceptional staff.
I had roasted salmon with garlic prawns and my GD had a beautiful medium rare fillet steak.
It was so good.
A Margarita and a glass of Sauvignon blanc for me and lime and soda for the driver. We had such an enjoyable evening.
I am making the most of life while I can.
I hope you will all do the same when opportunity presents.
Take care everyone, I know I am lucky just now.

Yiayia4 Sun 10-Nov-24 10:24:10

Your meal sounds delightful Usedtobeblondand good that the medics are taking care of you.
Well done Redcar now plenty of TLC.

You must be so pleased to have DH home SueD hope he recovers well.

FGT enjoy your holiday we know you care.🌹

We have DS2 and Dil here this weekend,so nice to see them. They have given me some lovely framed photos of the wedding. They told us they are coming for Christmas this year.It will be so nice to have the family together and the best bit,my eldest DS is cooking.
Like the Jax family DH has a shocking cold with that and the catheter it’s getting him down a bit.Our GP has given him antibiotics as a precaution so that’s reassuring.

Have a good day everyone it’s grey and murky here.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 10-Nov-24 11:19:06

Oh Yia and SueD
You are dealing so stoically with both your DH’s ongoing problems.
Isn’t it the truest saying that we never know what is round the corner for us.
One minute life is ticking over beautifully and then … wham.
Hopefully for all of you the next corner is very close and it will be better when you have rounded it.

My house is like a tip, truly.
I had to have a moan yesterday, I felt out of control in my own home.
We had a visiting baby overnight, I came down yesterday to the pram in two parts in the hall, the car seat and two very large bags of baby “stuff” in the living room.
Her mum picked up a day’s work with a friend who does catering , she arrived at just after 5 as we were getting ready but she was staying overnight.
Baby didn’t settle at all from about 3am so they went home at 6am.
However pram is still with us.
I am doing my best to tidy but I can only do 10/15 mins before I have to sit down so progress is slow.
Here endeth my rant for today.

Nannytopsy Sun 10-Nov-24 12:32:32

Our house is a tip too UTBB but we have created it all by ourselves! Ironing in basket waiting to go upstairs, a plank and the ironing board in the hall, stuff all over the kitchen after a day of cooking and I dare not approach the utility room! It will pass 🤣

brook2704 Sun 10-Nov-24 14:27:17

Hoping Redcar is doing ok today and making good progress
Your house sounds very warm and welcoming uttb far more important than anything else. Pleased you enjoyed your meal out yesterday too
Our house isn’t too bad just now nannytopsy but the garage is an absolute tip. In my defence though it’s mainly boxes of DD2s stuff, either for selling or waiting to be moved to her new house - whenever that will be 🤷‍♀️
We’ve had a bit of light rain this morning but the sun is back out again now so I’m going to go outside and tidy in the garden this afternoon. I enjoyed my face time call with DS earlier, he’s really good at keeping in touch so I feel really lucky. We don’t chat for ages but I do appreciate that he takes time out of his busy life to phone his mum
It sounds like a lovely family Christmas to look forward to Yia and hoping your DH feels much better soon
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, sending ❤️

Hello kitchen people.

OH is currently driving our daughter to the railway station. I am relaxing with Milo and Ripley.

We had a delicious lunch at our favourite riverside pub. I had beef, daughter had chicken and OH had fish pie. Daughter’s lunch was huge so she asked for boxes to take her leftovers back to London!

I think we’ll be watching Antiques Road show and Wolf Hall tonight. Dinner will be a small bowl of Special K.

We are slightly worried about Milo’s eye. I will be ringing the vet tomorrow. He seems to have lost some of the fur above his eye and it is a bit watery and swollen.

I have got my new computer and printer up and running. The only thing I’m having trouble with is Teams. I’ve emailed the V&A (I’m doing one of their online courses) and hopefully they can give me some advice.

Have a good evening.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 10-Nov-24 17:39:04

‘Evening All’.

We’ve enjoyed a delightful afternoon down on La Carihuela in the sunshine. A crisp G&T for me at 2pm when I took this photo. The marina was buzzing. So many folk out and about, Sunday of course.

We then ambled over to our favourite restaurant. When we were ordering coffee the manager Karim arrived and came over to say hello. “You’re looking good neighbour!” he said to Himself. Oh I hope so I thought, fingers crossed.

Oh UTTB you have just encapsulated my thoughts totally. Our corner is indeed very close. We hope to round it in a week or so and be able to look forward to Christmas with hope in our hearts.

Grandmabatty Sun 10-Nov-24 18:30:37

Good evening Kitcheners. Fingers crossed for FGT's dear man. Ladyleftfieldlover I'll be watching Wolf Hall tonight too. Brook does your ds have snow yet? I think next week's forecast here is to be much colder.
I had the boys for three hours this morning and they never stopped eating! Both are going through a growth spurt. Dgs1 was practising his lines for the Nativity play and dgs2 was reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar, one of his favourites. I managed to make a huge slow cooker pot of lentil soup and it'll be ready for tomorrow. I visited mum this afternoon and she was struggling to speak but smiled a lot. One of the nurses is very unpleasant and makes comments that I'm a stranger. I bite my lip and say little because she might take it out on mum. Tonight I've got the Christmas puddings mixture sorted and the boys will stir it tomorrow then in the steamer. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 10-Nov-24 19:11:08

FGT2 so pleased you are both enjoying your happy place, as you know a piece of my heart is forever just down the road from there 💔

DD and her boys have left, complete with a piece of home made banana bread and cooked sausages for the boys breakfast tomorrow. The dishwasher is doing its best, I am shattered.

My finger is so sore and throbbing, I didn’t check my gardening gloves properly before putting them on, there was a sleepy wasp in one of the fingers who stung me repeatedly!!

Will now read your news 🙋‍♀️

Jaxjacky Sun 10-Nov-24 19:15:39

Hi all, Yia I hope your husband soon recovers, it is quite a horrible cold virus.
I can understand how frustrating that must be utbb can you tactfully say something?
We had a few minutes on and off of sun today after so many grey days, it was quite cheering and I’ve had an alert for the aurora, but it’s cloudy.
No Wolf Hall here, not our cup of tea, we’ll find a film or something.

brook2704 Sun 10-Nov-24 19:19:28

Not much snow yet according to DS grandmabatty, he keeps a close eye on the weather as he goes skiing at the weekends. What an unpleasant nurse - you did very well to keep quiet. Hope the boys enjoy the soup, Im going to make a pot tomorrow too
Ouch GG13 hope the sting eases soon, take care

Redcar Sun 10-Nov-24 19:48:38

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement everyone. I’m getting on quite well, could have gone home today, but decided to stay an extra night to gain more confidence and build a bit more stamina!
Sitting in my room watching the Strictly results show, then will probably go to bed & watch tv from there. No one is allowed to get up without supervision, which is quite restrictive.
No sun here today jax, just grey skies and drizzle.
GG13 your finger must be so painful, hope it eases soon. Did you squash the wasp?
How unkind of that nurse grandmabatty, what makes people so horrible to each other?
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

brook2704 Sun 10-Nov-24 19:57:54

Good to hear from you redcar hope you get a good nights sleep and get home tomorrow x

Grandmabatty Sun 10-Nov-24 20:15:37

Brook and Redcar, it's not the first time she's said something similar. Grannygravy ouch! Have you dabbed it with vinegar and put ice on it?

Ali23 Sun 10-Nov-24 22:22:25

Grandmabatty, that was an awful thing for the nurse to say.
There is only one of you, and you are doing the best that you can. You are such a busy and caring daughter, mum and granny!

Usedtobeblonde Sun 10-Nov-24 23:11:40

So pleased to hear that Redcar is recovering well and may be home tomorrow.
Grandmabatty I learned long ago that all nurses are not the angels they are called.
Yes many ,many of them are and I’m sure we appreciate them but unfortunately one or two slip through the net and like you we are reluctant to call them out while they are looking after our loved ones.
I had a nice meal on my own tonight, house is quiet and reasonably tidy tonight.
Have the best one you can everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 10-Nov-24 23:17:02

A quiet word with the manager perhaps Grandmabatty? You are there several times a week I think. That’s totally uncalled for. Or the more direct “What do you mean?” . I don’t think I could bite my tongue more than once.

Jaxjacky Mon 11-Nov-24 16:19:57

Afternoon everyone, we’ve had some sun today! I’m on the phones until 5, so haven’t been out much, garden wandering and planning for next year.
Redcar I do hope you’re at, or on your way to your daughter’s care.
GG13 throbbing finger improving? Little monkeys hide in all sorts of places.
A troubled night for you llfl families try us even when our children are fully grown 🌹
Quiz tonight so an early dinner, we’re both tired, this wretched cold behaves until you lie down.
I hope those in the quiet corner have had a gentle day and those missing will return when they can.
