Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Hello kitchen people. So good to see that Mr Soop is home, albeit slightly battered. I hope his scalp will heal soon,

OH has gone off to hunt for a second hand fridge to turn into a honey warming cupboard!

I’m reading the papers and will do bangers and mash for dinner.

Have a good evening.

That's a dressing and a half Soop ,he is home now where he should be 💑 .Utbb it's hard to see friends and family's decline isn't it .
We hadn't done much this week have sorted some Christmas presents although I am struggling with things for teen Gc,s. Our tea is several veggies that need using with sausages and a nice thick gravy so I better get on.
Best wishes to all .

So glad that your dear brave man is back home with you, Soop, I'm hoping and praying for his speedy and complete recovery, and wishing you well for your hernia appointment.
Kind thoughts to all worrying about health issues, their own or their loved ones. 💕🙏

DH'S Auntie has been moved to the Rehab ward at the wee local hospital, which used to be the Maternity Home. It's where I had DS1 over 50 years ago! Oh, the memories! Visited this afternoon, took her a huge strawberry 🍓 tart from the wee bakery across the road from the hospital. Trying to tempt her, appetite is poor just now, although she is in great spirits and desperate to get on her feet again. I told her it's one of her 5 a day!🤣

Tonight my sisters and I are off to see Fairytale of New York in Glasgow, I better get ready cos BiL is coming in an hour to take me to the station.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening, especially those in the quiet corner.

TOYA

Jaxjacky Thu 14-Nov-24 16:27:32

Oh crumbs Mrsoop I do hope that’s not as painful as it looks and you heal well.
Have a smashing weekend Sued with your son 🥳
I chased a hernia referral today, still waiting to hear, booked another lunch out with a friend and a hair cut for tomorrow, not my usual trim - in a barbers no less!
I hope you’re getting some sleep corner you have so much going on.
I think you may have some ⛄️ next week brook my thermals are poised.
Let’s hope FGT and himself have an uneventful trip back later this evening.

‘Evening All’

A sunny day here in Málaga believe it or not! I got towels and sheets dried before we set off for the airport. Here we are ◀️

No trains again today, understandably. Probably checking tracks & tunnels for debris & flooding. So a taxi here.

Oh soop your poor man’s scalp looks exquisitely tender. Bet you’re both relieved his ordeal is over. Perhaps a wee dram this evening to celebrate? 🥃

Yiayia4 Thu 14-Nov-24 17:24:04

You must be so relived Soop that Mr Soop is home lots of healing thoughts on the way.

My Dh is recovering from the UTI but we both have the famous cough and cold.As a lot of you know it’s very miserable. It would be good to have a bit of normality for a change. My footballer GS2 played against Fulham under 18s today, his team lost but a great experience for him.

Thinking of you all.

SueDonim Thu 14-Nov-24 17:29:16

Jaxjackie posted I think you may have some ⛄️ next week brook my thermals are poised.

I had to comment on this sentence. I said to ds to bring some warm clothing as it’s going to be colder up here than in Hants. Dear reader, he wore the thermals instead of packing them and consequently almost had heatstroke on the overheated train! 😂😂😂

Jaxjacky Thu 14-Nov-24 17:51:15

That’s made me laugh SueD as one who lives in Hampshire - southern softie - I can understand his trepidation!!
Have a wonderful evening Grannmarie my favourite festive song, I assume it’s a musical?
Ask them to make a wish list hulahoop it’s the only way.
We’ll done your grandson Yia how exciting, we feel fine now after our colds, but I’ve got an irritating cough, slowly going, you must be aching for a ‘fine spell’.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 14-Nov-24 18:06:18

Another here who’s noticed dustyangel hasn’t popped in for a while. I hope all’s okay over there in Portugal. 🤞

GrandmaC47 Thu 14-Nov-24 19:38:37

So glad Mr Soop is home. Hope all feeling out of sorts get relief soon. Safe journey Fgt

Georgesgran Thu 14-Nov-24 19:48:47

Oh that does look sore MrSoop - perhaps it looks worse than it feels? Hope so.
Wishing you both well. X

brook2704 Thu 14-Nov-24 20:35:36

So pleased that MrSoop is home now after what looks like an ordeal, he’s a very brave man and I hope his scalp heels well, sending gentle hugs to you both x

Doodle Thu 14-Nov-24 20:40:03

My goodness Soop that looks so painful. Poor Mr Soop. Glad he’s home now and you can give him lots of TLC.

NannyG4 Thu 14-Nov-24 21:45:53

Good Evening Lovely Ladies...just popping into the kitchen and will sit a while.
Oh my goodness Soop, your DH has been through the mill, bless him. You must be so relieved to have him home safely. I hope his recovery goes smoothly. You take care as well.
FGT safe journey home. Hope you feel well rested after your break in your happy place....
Thank you to you all for your good wishes very much appreciated. Everyone on this thread is so caring and kind.
Love, strength and prayers for each and everyone of you.......

Charleygirl5 Thu 14-Nov-24 21:46:03

So pleased that Mr Soop is home but I agree, that head looks tender and sore. Even so, there is nothing like your own bed.

I have just returned having had a lovely curry locally with friends. A coffee tomorrow with another and on Sunday lunch with another friend. It is either a feast or a famine here but I am not complaining.

gillgran Thu 14-Nov-24 22:15:15

It must be a relief for you. soop, to have MrSoop back home with you. I do hope his scalp heals well.
Best wishes for your own appointment.

We had to find a different to our usual hospital yesterday for my DH to have an MRI scan, not much further away to our normal one which takes a little over half an hour , but busy, multi lane roads & roundabouts, then the carpark was very full.

Shouldn't complain, we've been visiting my sister in our main county hospital (& they have busy multi-story carparks which I hate), the last time we went my DH, who was driving, told my to be quiet, (not that politelyhmm!), & our daughter told me to close my eyesshock! neither helped, I was really scared.

Sadly we won't be returning there as my dear sister died ten days ago, not entirely unexpected, but sooner than we had thought.
I'll tuck myself back in the quiet corner.

cornergran Thu 14-Nov-24 22:45:13

Another late visit. It’s been all go today and I had planned a quiet one.

I’m more than pleased mr soop is home, you’ll both sleep well tonight. That does look oh so so sore though. What our not so Littlest would call a humongous ouchie.

Good to know Malaga was letting you go quietly Fgt.

Condolences for the loss of your sister gillgran. A sad time for you.

That’s one I’d like to see granmarie. Do hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Enjoy time with your son sued. Family is precious. We’re seeing ours this weekend, on separate days but no matter, it will extend the joy.

Sleep remained elusive last night 🤞 for tonight.

Hope you’ll all rest well. Night, night.

Grannmarie Thu 14-Nov-24 23:20:08

I'm on the train.
Gillgran, so sorry to hear about your dear sister. Sending my sincere condolences.
My sisters are sitting across from me, chatting away. I dread the thought of not having them in my life.
Thinking of you in your sorrow. 💕🙏

Nannytopsy Fri 15-Nov-24 08:48:46

Sad news Gillgran thanks. I’m so glad soop has her dear man home - give him a gentle hug please. Good luck with your own appointment too soop. We have had odd spells of sunshine this week but it’s another grey day today.
DD has just sent a message offering DGD up for rejoining! Apparently she decided sleep was not for her last night. They thought they were past that phase 🤣

Nannytopsy Fri 15-Nov-24 08:50:05

Rehoming not rejoining!

dustyangel Fri 15-Nov-24 12:04:19

Hello lovely kitchen people.

I hope Mr. Soop’s poor head heals well and does so as quickly as possible, it must be such a relief to be home together again.

Thankyou so much lovely Neine and you too FGT for thinking of me. I’m fine, or at least my usual self which passes for fine, we’ve had a succession of visitors recently and although they’ve been an absolute pleasure, I certainly find it more tiring than I used to. Maybe because we live such a quiet life normally.
When I catch up with GN in the evenings I tend to think, “ I’ll answer that in the morning when I’m fresher.” and of course the morning is then busy again.

I empathise with you Neine, trying to walk around clutching your bottom without being too obvious about it. I get sciatica and if I can get the pressure on the nerve just right, I can sometimes stop it in its tracks. But it’s not a good look if anyone else is around. grin

I loved your picture at the airport FGT, even though it made feel quite wistful about coming back to England. which DH and I haven’t done since just before the pandemic. It conjured up the whole travelling excitement. Maybe we’ll manage it next year.
I’ve been worried about you and your lovely husband managing to get back home safely. I could imagine you trapped at the airport with all flights delayed. Especially when flooding started in Malaga as well. The pictures on the news here of the army of volunteers in Valencia coming across the bridge with their brooms and buckets brought tears to my eyes.
The weather has been its usual Autumn unpredictable self. We’ve certainly had horrendous downpours but also some beautiful days as well. We console ourselves that we personally live on top of a hill and it will all eventually drain away, as long as the house doesn’t get blown away of course. wink

Extended family are visiting Albufeira at the moment and I’m hoping that they haven’t been affected by the flooding there. We can usually see the Albufeira area across the sea and for the first half of this week they were bathed in sunshine. The last couple of days you wouldn’t know that there is any coastline there!
In a gap in the rain we went down to the town for lunch ( telling ourselves it’s good to get out) and I was reliably informed by a gentleman who is usually too shy to speak to us that the rain is a good thing. And it is of course just preferably not all at once.
DH made us giggle by using the verb querer which means to want when he meant to say he cared about me when helping me on with my jacket. English humour can be very different from Portuguese.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 15-Nov-24 15:38:32

Hello kitchen people.

What a beautiful autumn day. We had lunch at a nearby pottery and I bought one or two Christmas presents. We then drove to the first garden centre where we bought lots of spring bulbs (and a bag of fudge) then on to the second garden centre where we bought even more bulbs

Back home and OH is bagging his pea and ham soup. I’m sitting on the sofa with Milo and Ripley. I am being surrounded

Grandmabatty Fri 15-Nov-24 20:25:37

Good evening Kitcheners. Soop poor Mr Soop. That looks so painful. Dustyangel I saw the videos of the flash floods in Albufeira. They looked dreadful. Ladyleftfieldlover gorgeous cats. Gillgran I'm sorry to hear about your sister. My condolences.
Today has been quiet. Dd and dgs2 visited after playgroup. He had soup and dd and I had chocolate cookies. I've had quite a lazy day today and pottered rather than anything else. I posted a birthday card this morning and that's about all. I think I'll have an early night. TOYA

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Nov-24 20:42:31

Hi all, well my hair cut has been delayed until Tuesday, means my neck stays warm for a few more days!
A dry, cloudier walk today, still scrunchy leaves, people cutting their grass, dog walking, lots of ‘afternoons’ and smiles.
Pub was quite busy, offers on cocktails and shots doing well - blue coloured!
My condolences gillgran expected or not, still a loss.
I hope you slept corner, I’d be a right rat bag without my quota.
A wave to the quiet corner and Blossoming 👋 🌹

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 15-Nov-24 21:31:22

‘Evening All’.

It really is nice to be home. Different pleasures.
We’ve just climbed into bed to read/surf for a half hour after enjoying a delicious curry over the road. Our usual. I think we are ‘on the spectrum’ as we like what we like, always. Lamb madras for me and chicken bhuna for Himself. We are not very adventurous.

Lovely photos of Ripley & Milo LLFL.
