Always Joe Malone Red Roses or Molton Brown's Rose Absolu.

The first real perfume I bought was Rive Gauche in the duty free shop, when I was visiting my friend, who was studying in Seville.

Just before I got married, my now husband, was at Wembley for a Scotland/ England game. I was not at all happy, so to pacify me, he came back with a bottle of Youth Dew, not only for me, but for his mother and sisters. The smell in his parents's home was overpowering.🤣

My parents had friend who visited regularly and you could tell when they'd been, as next day the house reeked of Brut and Dewberry - a heady mix!

The very best patchouli oil was Spiritual Sky, but it's very difficult to come by now. I'd love to have some again, as I'm sure it would transport me back to the days of afghan coats and cheesecloth dresses 😍.

Clinique Aromatic Elixir all time favourite. Been told it's old fashioned. Bit like me then!.

Chanel Allure was one of the first presents I was given by my "ex fiancé" as I used to call my DH. And it was also the last present he gave me before he got ill quickly and died. So that's my signature scent.

I love and always have a bottle Chanel Allure on the go but also like Jo Malone perfumes and at the moment using Orange Blossom but had for Christmas and really like the Wood Sage and Sea Salt,
Recently someone recommended the M&as Apothecary range of perfumes, one is supposed to be a dupe of a very very expensive perfume.
Might have a look next time I am in M&S.

Scent has such an impact on us humans. It evokes powerful memories and emotions… I do love that. Basic instincts.

My husband has worn that after shave for years Romola

He has Alzhimers now but I still use Chanel Allure on him.

He has no reaction when I drown him in it but I do….

and another one which is annoying me that I had when I was in portugal but just cannot remember its name and only got it there. When I worked for the airline I would be able to buy these at duty free prices and so it was a heck of ashock when I saw the full price in a shop in england Actually I tend to wear the eau do toilette as I like the perfume but dont want a very strong smell that masks things like newly baked bread etc.

As a singer , there was always the hazard from the audience. Naturally women coming out for an evening would put on their favourite perfume, but if you think of over 100 women all wearing different things it can be overpowering, and for me the main culprit which I dislike the smell of anyway is the awful (to me) Estee Lauder. Ugh!! It hangs in the air overpowering most of any other much nicer perfume and you cannot get rid of the smell of it for ages.

I like using essential oils , lavender , rose and a variety of other ones., as the mood takes me. sometimes I swap often, at other times I get sort of a craving for a particular smell. If I think of my dear granny then lavendar furniture polish, or the yellow saddle soap smell in and on furniture and she always had several different mints in the garden in pots , each one with differing smells so lemon or moroccan or ordinary so that I loved the job of chopping up mint and the smell now evokes long ago.

But I wish for specially made perfumes for me of
Parfume de Tar ( from that hot summer where the men are redoing the road or making up potholes and the desperate wish to pop bubbles with the new sandals with their white crepey soles but knowing I would be in serious trouble if I did!

A wonderful cigar smell that a friend of my fathers had made up for him specially. If I ever smelt that it meant Mr Ulman was in the house.

kitchen smells of roast dinner or better when I made bread as my mother did. But it always rises better when I use breadmaking as therapy, when I could cheerfully strangle people like Trump or Putin. Bash the bread as if it was them. It rises beautifully and then you can cut and eat it (them)

Then of course to a yorkshire woman this has two benefits.ironing clothes that have dried outside, cant beat that smell and even better it cost me "nowt" to dry them rather than have a horrible tumbledryer coting a fortune to run and no nice smell.
Also that special smell in the air when it has been hot, but you can sense that rain is coming soon and dash out to claim your washing before it gets wet again, and that lovely cooling when it pours with rain and sometimes thunder and lightning leaving the air fresher and easier to breath after that hot still day.

The perfume of a couple of my special snowdrops,
Oh, how could I have missed out a very important one. Every day it gives me pleasure and helps to get me going in the morning. That wonderful smell of coffee freshly made whilst listening to j s Bach on Bach before 7.

Oh I could go on and on, but enough for now

It has been quite a tough day but I can now go to bed and go through my lists of smells . isnt it amazing how we can really know what those smells are like and can conjure them up and the particular scene that comes to mind .

madeleine45 I have a waterless diffuser in my bedroom, and I always put it on when I'm in the bath so the bedroom smells when I go to bed. The smell reminds me that it's sleep time, and I do think it helps me to sleep. It's the association. I'm currently using Neom's Perfect Night's Sleep, and it's very soothing.

MD, I loved Youth Dew but had to stop wearing it as DH said all his patients wore it too.

Commercial scent - not so much as I’ve got older. I always wore Dior, I have tried other scents, but none really float my boat, and don’t want to smell like an old lady if that makes sense?

I've used Opium since 1982 - my favourite uncle gave me my first bottle; he sadly died a year later so I wear it as a tribute to him. I did flirt with Dalissime in the late 1990s but I could only ever buy it at Spanish airport duty free shops. The bottles were rather Dali-esque and the scent was lovely.

I loved Aqua Manda too- a few years ago I was given a bottle for a birthday which a friend bought on e-bay. I opened it once to relive my youth and have left it alone since then.

I used to wear Shalimar after that but now I'm a Hypnose girl- sprayed some on this morning and I can still smell it on my wrist 12 hours later!

I only buy from French perfume houses and never 'designer' perfume however fancy the bottle.

I started wearing Avon perfumes at around 12 years old, and have worn perfume virtually every day since. I love perfume and enjoy quite a variety.
Angela Flanders, several of hers. For a while Cashmere Noir was a favourite.
Today I'm wearing Chanel No 5, loved No19 when I was younger.
