As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Hello kitchen people. It’s morning in Sydney.

I am meeting my sister in law again. She’s driving me to her daughter’s (my very pregnant niece) and we’re going to see the new Bridget Jones film. My younger son’s friend from university is in it and has one line!

I think it’s going to be another hot day. I’ll have a shock when I arrive back in UK on Saturday!

brook2704 Mon 03-Mar-25 22:20:35

Thank you all for your kind wishes, we had an easy journey back home, arrived early evening and not moved off the sofa until now .. travelling makes me tired these days so that’s my excuse! 💤
Keeping fingers crossed for your DGS tomorrow Yia
Thoughts with all those in the quiet corner, sending hugs x

4am and I have just caught up! Lovely to hear plenty of happy news on here yesterday. I wish I had a trip to Spain booked!
Another busy weekend with a houseful. DD, DSIL, 2DGS & 2DGD plus Sis IL.
It has made me realise how much better my knee is, as I can do so much more. Sis IL and her dogs go home today and the WI committee arrive at 2.
I think I can fall asleep again now so NNGB X

Late to the party 😂
Early hair appointment as our village virtually closes down for the annual Shrove Tuesday ball game.
The local comprehensive school is open but I think classes may well depleted.
Haven’t read your posts yet, but hope you all have a lovely pancake day.

GrandmaC47 Tue 04-Mar-25 13:17:16

Oh dear. I meant to post on the good morning thread 😂

brook2704 Tue 04-Mar-25 15:44:44

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s grey here in Inverness with very strong gusts of wind
No worries grandmaC47, easily done!
I’ve just heard news from my brother in Mexico saying sadly that his wife has just died. She’d been poorly for a while but I’d not realised how serious it was. She was a lovely lady and even though we didn’t see each other often I’ll miss her smile. The funerals take place very quickly over there so we’ll not be able to attend, but there’s going to be a memorial service sometime soon that we’ll probably try to get to. I’m just waiting to hear the exact date before we can make any plans
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Grandmabatty Tue 04-Mar-25 16:00:54

I'm sorry to hear that Brook. My condolences.

Jaxjacky Tue 04-Mar-25 16:22:10

Sad news brook thinking of you
A bright, sunny day again, some garden pottering - grasses cut down and raised bed weeded, I’ll get beetroot seed in tomorrow. I have to work in the morning before the shade or Raynauds in my fingers makes it tricky.
We’re out to dinner tonight with our two quizzing friends, last birthday event, it’s a local pub with hearty, home cooked food, I need to get back on less carbs and sugar soon!
I’ll give a wave to the quiet corner - hoping today is a better one

So sorry to hear your bad news Brook.
It`s been a beautiful sunny and quite warm day. It was also my BIL`s funeral, so he had a sunny send off.

So sorry to hear your sad news, brook, sending my sincere condolences. 💐🙏 So far away.

I'm fine, thanks, Grandmabatty, I've been AWOL 'cos I was ' babysitting ' my younger sister who has just had surgery on her foot, so I've been staying with her to help out.

Home now, time to catch up with your kitchen news, then with last night's TV 📺 quizzes.

It's not too late to make pancakes, is it?

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening. TOYA.

‘Evening All’.

A lovely sunny day here in Málaga which has been a nice surprise. I strolled home at 5pm in glorious sunshine from LWW, meeting my two friends who live out here. By 7pm (half an hour ago) the wind is up and the sky is slate grey. Rain is on the way again but at least I got a sunny afternoon with my friends!

gillgran Tue 04-Mar-25 19:35:32

My condolences to you, brook, thinking of you, x

GrandmaC47 Tue 04-Mar-25 20:31:00

Brook so sorry for your loss💐

Redcar Tue 04-Mar-25 21:26:35

Sorry for your loss brook. grannmarie I hope you made your pancakes! I knew I wouldn’t bother this evening, so had some for breakfast. It really felt strange, but I enjoyed them nevertheless! My DDs often cook pancakes for their children’s breakfasts. Pleased you had a good time with your ladies who wine fgt, and in sunshine too!
My next door neighbour was out doing some gardening early afternoon, so I joined her & cut a few fuchsias down, then we both complained about our backs and gave up for the day!
I saw my friend with dementia this afternoon, she half smiled at me, then asked who I was. She hasn’t responded to me for about six months, so a good day for us both.
Good night everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Tue 04-Mar-25 21:36:05

Sorry to hear your sad news brook and sending condolences to you. 💐

It’s never too late for pancakes grannmarie I’m still stuffed as I probably indulged too much. 🤢 Grandson was here after school so I bought some Nutella as I know he loves it. DH and I have never tried it until now. Must admit it went down very well with the pancakes and in defence we also had strawberries and blueberries with them 🤣

brook2704 Tue 04-Mar-25 21:55:16

Thank you all so much for your kind messages, I’ve just spoken to my brother, his wife had deteriorated quite quickly over the last few days and was in a lot of pain, she’d been having cancer treatment but I think there were quite a few complications. She was only 60 and such a lovely lady. She was Mexican and my brothers second wife, they had been together for over 25 years. They used to live in Kent but when he retired about 8 years ago they moved to be closer to her family in Mexico City. We’ve visited them a few times there and have lovely memories of happy days spent together.

Hoping everyone in the kitchen is doing ok, sending ❤️

SueDonim Tue 04-Mar-25 22:12:40

I’m so sorry you’ve had sad news, Brook. It must be difficult, being so far away. flowers

Sad news from me, too. My DD1’s mother-in-law died yesterday after an illness at only 68. She was a lovely person, very kind and welcoming and a wonderful hostess. I also heard tonight that my older brother is having palliative care for mesothelioma. The treatment has stopped working and it’s now spread. He is still able to send me texts, which is one thing. I hope they can make him more comfortable.

TOYA. Xxx

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 05-Mar-25 02:31:52

Hello kitchen people. So much sad news. I am sending my condolences.

It is 1.30 pm here in Sydney and it is very hot. I’ve just been outside to bring my washing in - it didn’t take long to dry.

I remembered too late that it was Shrove Tuesday! My sister doesn’t make pancakessad

Today is a relaxing one for me. I have done something every day since I’ve been here. So I’ve done my washing, answered some emails, bought some clothes online from Seasalt from their sale and now I’m waiting for a friend of my bro in laws (the ex-husband of my brother’s partner) to call in and collect a drum!

Then I’ll read.

Grandmabatty Wed 05-Mar-25 07:09:20

Sue I'm really sorry to hear about your sad news too. Life sometimes is just hard. 💐
