As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Signing off early today, have been extremely lazy.

DH is cooking dinner later, and I will assist by keeping out of his way (laying on the sofa with a glass of chilled white wine)

Sending (((hugs))) to all in the quiet corner 🙋‍♀️

‘Evening All’.

Well we’ve made the most of an unexpectedly sunny afternoon! Left home at noon, walked down to the paseo (20 mins), coffee, a stroll, another short walk along, 2 AF beers, then turned back towards the marina.

There we sat outside and looked at the boats, the blue sky and the birds of paradise plants - I do love them they are so exotic! Then a second wine for me but it was 3pm and getting nippy, the breeze was up so we went inside. Lovely. After an hour inside we got a taxi home from the rank round the corner. A perfect afternoon really.

We’ve just eaten, mushroom omelette and salad. No more wine for me I don’t keep any in the apartment anymore.

Himself is now watching a film on Netflix and I’m about to put my feet upon the sofa and read my kindle. A healthy apple is my dessert. One a day keeps the doctor away provided it is well aimed.

Good evening Kitcheners. I wish I could send you a photo of dgs2! He's at my house for a sleepover. He's had a bowl of soup, two strawberries, a chocolate mousse and some clavers( quavers). Then he said he was a bit not well and had to go to bed but I did too. Now he's wearing my sun hat and ballet pumps and going on a plane to great gran canaria.

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Mar-25 17:42:06

Sorry, we had an unexpected item in the toilet area. Oops. Dgs2, not me! I've had a lovely day. I met my friend for breakfast then I've pottered about the house. Dgs2 arrived full of happiness and we are playing until bath time which will be soon. I'll have dinner once he's in bed. Have a nice evening Kitcheners.

Hello everyone, a lovely sunny day after the mist had cleared. The sun was warm but the breeze was chilly. I didn’t bother with a walk today, did a little gardening instead. I cut back a few overgrown plants and raked up some dead leaves, felt quite virtuous! I’d already cleaned the bathroom, including clearing the drain in the shower (yuk) and mopped the floor.
Sorted out my t-shirts, short & long sleeved, and bagged some ready to go to the tip - not good enough for charity shop!
llfl 33 degrees would be a bit warm for me now unfortunately.
fgt that sounds a lovely relaxing afternoon, hopefully there will be more of the same for you this coming week.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Grannmarie Sat 01-Mar-25 21:16:03

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Sorry to hear about MrSoop's infection, hoping and praying that it clears up soon.

Sounds like great fun, Grandmabatty. Hope your wee DGS2 is fast asleep in his lovely new big boy bed, and you've got your feet up with a nice glass of something!

Hope your DGS's birthday 🎂 🎉 celebrations went well, brook, enjoy your family visit.

We had a good visit with the Wee Boy yesterday, picked him up from school and as it was dry and sunny we stopped at the newly built playpark on the walk home. He enjoyed that, then he hitched a ride on his Papa's mobility scooter for the rest of the way home. Today DS3 visited, good to see him, we've missed him in recent weeks as he's had studio time on Saturdays recently. Tomorrow we have a meet up with our cousins at the local Chinese restaurant, first this year.

Relaxing now with Saturday night 📺 after our dinner of fish and chips. Enjoying Elkie Brooks on BBC 2 just now, remembering so many good songs in her distinctive voice, and recognising my hairstyles of the 70s and 70s!!🤣

Wishing everyone a peaceful Saturday evening and a good night's sleep. Thinking of all in the quiet corner, and those with illness, worries or sorrow. Hope NannyG4 is doing OK.
TOYA, NNGB.

Jaxjacky, sounds like you're having a wonderful special birthday weekend, enjoy every minute with your family and friends.

Cornergran, great news from the hospital, what a relief for you. Happy anniversary to you and your DH. 🥂

Happy birthday 🎂 to your DGD, Hulahoop.

Hope your family lunch went well today, Ladyleftfieldlover. Great to be able to spend time with your siblings and their families.

Sorry, I've got this all jumbled up, not sure what I've done but hope you can make sense of it...

Grannmarie Sat 01-Mar-25 21:28:54

A belated happy anniversary to corner and her beloved.

Earlier this afternoon, I spoke on the 'phone to my oldest friend who has terminal cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. She has lost all her hair, eyelashes and eyebrows. Her treatment is, in the main, intravenous drugs. The consultant told her that the drugs prescribed do not usually cause loss of hair. She remains upbeat. She lives in mid-England. When we both lived in Plymouth, we walked with our babies in their prams every day to Saltram House, had ice cream and chatted non-stop. Oh for one more day doing just that. hmm

Mr Soop and I have enjoyed a game of Scrabble. I won on this occasion. grin. I am about to mount the exercise bike and pedal for 30 mins to the music of the Inkspots. Mr Soop is in another room listening to Wagner.

At nine o'clock precisely I shall raise a glass of G&T to you lovely lot. Be gentle with yourselves. smile moon

GrandmaC47 Sun 02-Mar-25 17:07:36

We’ve just got home from a lovely Sunday lunch at our local pub with our dd1, her partner, dd2, sil and dgd and DH’s brother and his wife.
Although we see them all frequently it’s not often we’re all together at the same time.
Family is everything.
Thinking of those in the quiet corner and all with worries and struggles.

Jaxjacky Sun 02-Mar-25 18:30:03

Lovely adventures from the little boys Grandmabatty and Grannmarie - hope you enjoy your meet up and Chinese meal.
Sounds perfect FGT may the rain stay away for the rest of your week.
So hard for you soop what a stoic lady.
Yes family are GrandmaC47, I’ve been surrounded by love and laughter this weekend, thoroughly spoilt by friends and with my darling MrJ as wingman. The weather has been glorious meaning we could get out and about, the restaurant last night so accommodating too.
Have a gentle evening all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 02-Mar-25 19:14:47

‘Evening All’.

Rain here this morning weak sunshine this afternoon so we stayed home to read. Booked a table at our favourite carvery for 6pm - boy it was so busy! Full tums then back up in a taxi. Himself is watching Man. Utd penalty shots now against Fulham in the FA Cup. 🤷‍♀️

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 02-Mar-25 20:20:33

Well kitchen people, I’m about to get up! It’s another warm day in Sydney. My sister in law is taking me to an exhibition on Machu Pichu later. Then lunch.

Yesterday’s family picnic was fun. Nice food, champagne etc. My sister in law’s aunt was there and doing very well at 87! She hopes to see me in three years time for my sister’s 70th.

The only downside of this trip are the number of bites from various flying creatures at my brother’s place. My arms and legs look like currant buns. The sprays and lotions didn’t work.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Mar-25 20:58:42

A surprise visit from DD and her boys so we had a Chinese takeout for dinner.

Other than that another day of rest.

Night Night 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Sun 02-Mar-25 22:42:52

Hi kitchen pals, just popping in here to wish everyone a good night, we’ve had another busy but thoroughly enjoyable day here at DD1s in Cambridge. Time spent with the family is so precious, I count my blessings every day ❤️
Tomorrow we head home so hoping for an easy trouble free journey, it’s always a long day travelling but definitely worth it.
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, gentle hugs and take care all x

cornergran Sun 02-Mar-25 23:00:43

A very happy weekend in cornerland. Much to our son and daughter in laws amazement we arranged to spend our anniversary taking our grandson to a Concorde museum which is neatly located between our two homes. The motorway was kind to us, our grandson was his wonderful self, we were all interested in the exhibits and the sun shone. We couldn’t have asked for more. Today we’ve had a splendid lunch at our favourite garden centre where we are guaranteed delicious roast meals. A wander afterwards and some excellent cake. All in all an excellent weekend.

Back to reality tomorrow when Mr C has an MoT at the surgery before we head out to retrieve our big computer which we are assured will now behave itself. 🤞 the computer wizard is right.

I’m pleased to hear so many are having happy times while also sad that some of us are facing personal mountains to climb.

Sleep well everyone. TOYA.

Grannmarie Sun 02-Mar-25 23:23:19

Special memories of happier times with your dear friend, Soop, brave lady.

Wise words, GrandmaC47, family is indeed everything and it's wonderful when we can see them altogether.

Thank you, Jaxjacky, we had a good catch up with my cousins and I enjoyed my Chinese meal, sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style, DH always orders the steak! I'm glad you've celebrated your special birthday weekend making lots of happy memories with your loved ones.

FGT, enjoy every minute in your happy place with your lovely man.

Sorry to hear about the insect bites Ladyleftfieldlover, hope you've got something to soothe them, baking soda perhaps?

Hope your injuries are healing well, Grannygravy.

Hope you found your Mum comfortable, Grandmabatty.

Safe journey home tomorrow, brook, sounds like you've had a super time with your Cambridge family.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night.
TOYA, NNGB.

Hello, is anybody here? It’s very quiet in the kitchen this afternoon, I hope you’re all outside enjoying the lovely sunshine! I’ve done almost nothing today, went to the dentist and had my root canal filling. It wasn’t too bad, thank goodness, but the tooth needs a crown now. I have an appointment for June to start that process. Lunch was late as a result of the long appointment and I’ve just sorted through some old house insurance paper, read the rest of the weekend papers and am about to tackle a big heap of magazines!
I hope you’ve had a good journey home brooke after your busy weekend. Pleased you had a good celebratory lunch yesterday cornergran.
fgt I hope the weather has improved for you.
Enjoy your evenings everyone, whatever you have planned (or even if you’re just relaxing!).

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 03-Mar-25 17:53:56

‘Evening All’.

Still no photos allowed so you are spared that tedium! Another good day. No rain which has been a pleasant surprise. I’ve spent most of the day reading my book on Kindle.

We’ve just eaten. We had a stroll up into Arroyo. 20 minute walk. A new cafe/bar delightful run by young Spanish couple.
So inexpensive to ‘eat where to locals eat’ in a little space off the main drag.

I’ve had two glasses of ‘tinto’ Rioja and a toasted seeded flatbread with tomato, grilled bacon and goats cheese smeared with olive oil. Himself enjoyed two coffees, croissant with tuna and salad plus a slice of (he said) very moreish chocolate ganache cake. The bill came. Guess how much for all that?
€17. About £15.50. Unbelievably good value.

Home now (it’s 7pm here). Still dry. Warm but not sunny.
Pj’s on for me soon, a mug of tea and back to the novel that I cannot put down and am really enjoying - only 3 hours left to be read! I shall miss it that’s fore sure.

Jaxjacky Mon 03-Mar-25 17:58:44

I’m here Redcar 👋
Day off my volunteering, so washing, window cleaning (that sunshine!) and weeding, particularly in my greenhouse.
I detest the dentist, more so as I’ve aged, but I wish I’d had a better one over the years, my teeth are suffering from my lack of education!
I hope brook is nearly home after an easy journey.
Ouch, ouch llfl everyone says don’t scratch but the itching is often horrid, particularly at night, fingers crossed it’s easing off.
Sounds brilliant corner hope the MOT went well.
Quiz tonight, always enjoyable, it takes a fun evening to get me out when it’s dark and cold.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 03-Mar-25 18:04:31

I had a lovely lunch out today with a GN pal who also chauffeured me door to door, thank you very much.

Each day things are getting easier, not so reliant on painkillers.

(((Hugs))) for the quiet corner folks 🙋‍♀️

Yiayia4 Mon 03-Mar-25 18:47:06

So pleased you had a good weekend Jax sounds like you made some happy memories.

Glad your dental appointment was O.K Redcar. I’m another one who detests the dentist. Its got to be nearly 2 years since I went.I can blame moving house and then DH’s illness but it’s mostly fear.Luckily the antibiotics are doing the job but make me feel a bit rubbish.

My eldest DGS has an interview with B.P tomorrow for an apprenticeship. He has had four uni offers so far so who knows what will happen. Its all quite exciting.

Safe journey home Brook.
Happy Anniversary to the Corners.🥂

Kind thoughts to you all

Grandmabatty Mon 03-Mar-25 18:54:13

Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a nice day. The boys were on great form today and no tantrums to deal with. I worked for a couple of hours in the school library and had coffee with the staff. They enjoyed the lemon drizzle cake. The kitchen now needs a sort out but I might leave it til tomorrow as I'm tired. I'm watching Towards Zero but it's lacking something. I hope Brook is well on her way home, that Grannmarie is ok and The Soops are better. Good night all

Grandmabatty Mon 03-Mar-25 18:55:23

Yiayia the best of luck to your dgs. I hope he gets on well. Life is full exciting promise when you are young

Redcar Mon 03-Mar-25 20:21:11

Thank you jax and yiayia. I don’t mind the dentist now, but my mum was terrified of dentists and so didn’t take me or my brother unless we had toothache. My current dentist is lovely and sympathises with me for my horrible teeth! yia I’m glad the antibiotics are doing their stuff, but the side effects can be difficult to deal with. GG good that things are getting easier with your knee and foot. grandmabatty I’m glad you had a nice day and that the boys were well behaved for you.
Good night everyone.
