Florists selling poor flowers

I have banned my famiky from sending flowers (they don't live nearby) for Mother's Day. The prices rocket and the quality is suspect. A friend had ordered flowers for his wife's birthday middle of March. Wanted to order the same for his Mum at beginning of last week for delivery on Saturday, price had jumped £30.00. He didn't bother.

I get flowers from Freddie’s Flowers they are stunning and often last three weeks.

I followed their instructions to the letter. What a rip off from these company's.
I haven't told my son or daughter BUT I have emailed relivent company's, waiting for a reply.

Am I alone in not appreciating flowers? I just don’t get it. They sit in a vase waiting to die and then you bin them. I tell my kids not to buy them. It’s a waste of money.

Years ago a new florist set up near me but I refused to go in. They had various flowers outside that I could see a mile off were either dead or dying and the pots they were in looked shabby.

A friend told me she's gone in to get some Roses but the entire place looked like ''something from a horror movie'' she said and with petals etc. dropping off and not being picked up and things not being watered.

She said the woman on the till was gruff and unfriendly.

She closed up after only about 6 weeks! All those poor sweet innocent flowers being abused.

Mine were from Freddies, I love the arranging help plus the fact that the flowers are so fresh for a long time. The roses in mine looked a bit droopy as they were delivered at the end of mothers day, they perked up and now look wonderful

I can’t believe anyone not appreciating flowers! How are you with other things - meals, jewellery and similar gifts?

Mine came from Moonpig, sent by my son in Dubai. They looked sad when they arrived and are wilting already, despite my cutting the stems and adding the food as directed.

Mine came from a local independent florist.

I had a gift delivery from Bloom & Wild. Not up to their usual standard with some broken stems. I photographed the broken stems and contacted them. Wonderful customer service, no need to contact the purchaser, they sent a replacement bouquet by premium delivery. I can't fault them. The rather full vase looks glorious!

As an aftermath of Mothers' day sales Asda had a huge amount of bouquets reduced to 10p yesterday. Most expensive I noted were £24:99. Needless to say I indulged irrespective of prospective longevity!

My DH has always been very generous with an elaborate bouquet of flowers at Christmas and birthdays. He has always purchased from either of the two local florists in our small town and they have been wrapped and ready for his collection.

I'd been disappointment with the quality nearly every time but chose not to show the disappointment to DH (he can be quite sensitive...!).

But recently the flowers were so poor I just had to speak up. I'm just as happy with supermarket flowers. At least you can inspect them, and so much cheaper!

Here's what I complained about. On unpacking, the leaves were brown and shrivelled.
To be fair the company did rectify this. I would order from them again.

I used to buy all my gift flowers from Bloom and Wild and they were beautiful. Recently though, I have found that the quality has really gone downhill. The leaves are limp and slimy, the flowers themselves are the cheaper varieties and the whole ‘bouquet’ is disappointing.
I shan’t be buying from them again.
They will have to be careful - I can’t be the only one feeling like this, and they could well go out of business.

My children clubbed together to buy me this beautiful basket of flowers just before Mothering Sunday weekend, supplied by a local independent florist whom we use regularly and who never disappoints. So far, I've only had to discard three or four blooms, 11 days after receiving them!
