A boring day thread

There seems to be a need for it!

Post here what you are doing, if your day is boring.

I, and some others, will still find it interesting.

Aldom

FGT the mustard spoon was in the drawer of a tall, free standing unit in the kitchen. This drawer contains small (ish) kitchen utensils, the soft one uses infrequently.
I recently decided to weed out anything I no longer use.
Suddenly, there was my little spoon.
I was so rediculously happy to see it again after assuming it had been lost during the house move almost 14 years ago. I use my spoon regularly again. smile

Ah. I can sleep tonight now Aldom!
Seriously though - the joy of finding lost things is immense. 😁

Got up early today (7:30) for my first go at the gym, made OH tea in bed. Then while I was getting ready (can’t leave the house without a full face of makeup unfortunately) OH emptied and then loaded the washing machine and switched on the dishwasher. I went to the gym for an hour (DD coached me) while OH did a Sainsbury’s shop and bought potatoes to plant from a garden centre. I made lunch of a mixed edamame stir fry with a squeeze of lemon for me. OH had slices of fresh olive bread with ham and tomatoes.
Now I’m resting on the settee in the pool room with the sun shining in, deciding whether to do the ironing and change the bed or just stay here until dinner time. Decisions decisions 🤣.

Anyway, I bet none of you can do what I did today. I put my knickers on while my slippers were actually on my feet!

Jules59 Mon 14-Apr-25 14:31:13

Housework ….
Hoovering
Put a wash on
Recycling
Change sheets on bed
Wrapped two presents- 60 birthday and retirement
Visited neighbour to drop some books off for her
Later I’m popping to the chap I befriend for a natter
A catching up sort of a day ….
Oh! And I changed my Sky package and saved £33
So quite a good day really …..🤔

Exciting news!!

I recently found my little wooden mustard spoon. Great joy. It's been lost for thirteen years.
Bet that snippet has relieved your boredom! grin

Aldom. My mustard spoon is bone/horn. Are you sure yours is wood(en).

Got up ready to help a friend but having had a sore throat that’s developed into aches, temperature and chesty cough (not Covid!) I’ve come back to bed with paracetamol and my kindle.

I am waiting in for the plumber whose company is renovating my ensuite. Supposed to be arriving afternoon, no sign yet and its nearly 3 pm. May not be an exciting day for him either when I highlight the faults created by his joiner that I've uncovered.

My definition of a boring day? I prefer to call it a quiet one, like today. No rush to get up, sorted out some of my winter jumpers, put a wash on and hung it out. Walked to pick up a prescription and had a look round some of the local shops. Bought some solar lights from B&M. Back home for lunch. Now about to get washing in, read a little and may have a nap.
Lovely day.

knspol Mon 14-Apr-25 15:13:46

Been ill for a couple of weeks, very little sleep and feeling grotty so each day has been just hanging around trying not to feel sorry for myself and nodding off here, there and everywhere. Got more meds from GP this morning so hoping to be better soon. In the meantime probably another nap in front of the TV.

We have just commented how lucky we are to be using the last Christmas gift of an overnight stay in a hotel near Burnley! Had a delicious coffee in the town centre, a bit of retail therapy plus a chat in the market whilst admiring the model railway ! Going to read, swim, have a drink and a meal ! Very lucky people

Re-did window display in town for recent book release, threw away two chapters of current one, now heading out into garden to chop brambles away from shrubs I shall need to be flowering in a month's time and will then either go back to writing or cook evening meal - DH is voting for the latter but we will see...

Redhead56 Mon 14-Apr-25 16:05:45

I have spent most of the day in the kitchen making different meals for the next three days. I like to tend to our veg patch and cook its a pleasure to me. It's quite cold today, so the kitchen is warm. I couldn't be bothered going out for bread, so I made a loaf too.
Both our DS and D are away with their families they Whatsapp us every day. My husband laughs and says it's a good job we didn't have more. We would never be off the phone so it not often I say I'm bored.

Cateq Mon 14-Apr-25 16:06:22

I spent this morning catching up on some house work and ironing as I’ve started packing for holiday

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 14-Apr-25 16:10:39

Caleo. Thank you for the laugh out loud moment! This thread is brilliant,
I gave up on the GM thread which I thoroughly enjoy reading, but my life is so dull there was no point at all in contributing.

Sparkyb Mon 14-Apr-25 16:16:23

Just to add to everything i have burnt mouth syndrome which is exactly what it is 24 hours a day feels like you have burned your mouth, very difficult to eat so have dumped a lot of weight in 6 weeks since it started. I am also fed up being ill and on my own (my husband 42 years died 2 years ago)

Sparky ouch that sounds very uncomfortable. I hope you can find a treatment to give you some relief soon.

Welcome to the thread!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 14-Apr-25 16:40:44

👋 Sparkyb welcome and condolences too on your loss.

woodenspoon Mon 14-Apr-25 16:52:09

Yet another quiet but productive day here. Changed bed linen, washed and on the line. Began the mammoth task of sorting through summer clothes and putting winter ones away. High time for a big clear out too. This will go on for a few days while I dither and try things back on. Tonight, carrots, chicken pie and jacket potatoes. An exciting day!

Allira Mon 14-Apr-25 16:53:22

Sparkyb I've never heard of that but it sounds very unpleasant and painful.
Is there treatment for it? Or do certain foods trigger it?

Macadia Mon 14-Apr-25 16:55:32

Ate blueberry lemon cake for breakfast then went back to bed, fatigued.

I've lost my mustard spoon!

Macadia Mon 14-Apr-25 16:58:29

Hello, Sparkyb ! We are glad you have joined us.

loopyloo Mon 14-Apr-25 17:08:21

I have had my hair cut. Far too expensive must find cheaper one.
New bucket for cleaning has arrived

I’ve just filled all 12 (!) of my bird feeders and hung them on the apple and fig trees in my back garden. I’ll soon get lots of garden birds and love watching their different behaviours and antics.
Then I’ll plant out the bedding and strawberry plants I bought yesterday from The Range, water front and back gardens, then feet up for a good hour or so - lovely!
