Good Morning Everyone,
Its light and cool at the moment here in brackley .
No plans for today, I am not going to risk the heat by going out, I shall stay in and put my health first .
Health wise OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a warm and sunny corner of La Sarthe.

I think you’re wise to stay indoors, Mick; I don’t enjoy being out in the heat of the day although yesterday it was pleasant in the garden first thing and mid evening with it still being light at 10.00 pm because we are on Central European Time.

Today we shall collect the two cats from the cattery. DH had to book them in there as we no longer have the services of the cleaner/gardener to care for them, following a disagreement twixt her and DH back in May.

Have a good weekend with happy holidays to those who are elsewhere and relief from pain for those who suffer. 🦩🥰🇫🇷💐🦩

Good morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful morning in Cheshire. I had just made the same plan for today Mick, to stay home and safe in the forecast heat of 30C. The morning is still, not a leaf stirring. I have opened all windows and doors to let the cool air. circulate.

I will be watching Wimbledon today. I guess they're used to playing in such heat. I was surprised yesterday to see how many spectators were not wearing hats, even some bald gentlemen. I will picnic in the garden under my new parasol.

Enjoy your day whatever you may be doing. Special thoughts for those who may be struggling at the moment. flowers

Good morning from a hot 🥵 Bristol. I find this heat intolerable.
After making blueberry jam yesterday morning, and picking lavender for “bottles”, I rested a little.
I had been asked to help at the post funeral meal for a young woman vicar (who I didn’t know). She must have been very popular as there were at least 20 vicars, plus a lot of her congregation at the meal. She was a South African Indian and there were vats of curries, etc. it was generally a thoughtful and memory filled event.
I went home before all the tidying up had finished as I had reached a “beyond tired “ stage, staggered home and rested as best I could.
My trusty frozen water bottle helped overnight.
Another dreadfully hot day today. It really makes me feel ill despite trying to do as little as possible.
For those who like it, enjoy the heat, everyone else, keep safe and hydrated! 💦
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Shropshire.Another hot day ahead.

I had a wisdom tooth extraction yesterday and am still feeling a bit rubbish. We are going over to Stafford for a sleepover with DGS1.DH will be in charge as I feel fit for nothing.

Wishing Greyduster, Grandmabatty and all on the move safe travels and happy holidays.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Good morning early birds from sunny already north Wales where a trot out later this morning to Conwy Quay festivities is my weekend delight 🤗. After examining all events and tents we shall retire to a shady spot in Conwy’s Secret Garden with a chilled Pinot Grigio before a bus home for some more 🎾

I’m also blessed with six hours of free electricity between 2 and 8 so the week’s washing will be sorted too!

Enjoy your holidays and health all who can and lots of TLC for those in need 🙏

Good morning from s somerset, a baking hot day today

Yesterday was bad enough at 32, today even higher, so I have gone topsy turvy with timings

I made that Lynn caftan yesterday, finished by 2.30, not much moving and fan on so it was bearable. I love that dress pattern, it makes me feel slinky and slimmer. This one is long, and the colour is gorgeous. I am going t wear it later

Yesterday evening I went completely topsy turvy and decided that my veg trugs being metal are not worth the effort. I pulled stunted plants out of two and despite watering 3 times a day, it was bone dry all through. I did 2 allotment trips to deposit very heavy soil to my beds

The car is full and I added several empty plastic troughs to the trug parts, which were also weighty. Tip run at 9.30. The weather was very bearable during the evening so I worked until dusk. I will do the another trug soon. Future planning here, less watering and less work as these stifling hot summers are here to stay.

Today a tip run then nothing much at home, it is impossible to cool the house, I was up with fans on and windows open at 3.30, made no difference. So I will sit still with a fan on me until this evening

Have a good day

Good morning everyone from a very hot and sunny 🌞 🌞 Northampton. Am up at this hour as I am planning to be at the shops early to get everything done while it's still relatively cool; hoping to get a bus at 8am.

Dance classes went ahead yesterday despite the heat, but we had a large fan going and our teacher kept the classes quite gentle. Went over the road to the bakery cafe afterwards where we enjoyed a drink before venturing home. I was tempted by a loaf of their cheese and marmite bread, which I sliced and put in the freezer when I got home - but not before partaking of a slice which I had spread with butter - yummy!
Did nothing except read the rest of the afternoon.

Hope all can take it easy today in the heat.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 12-Jul-25 06:47:14

Morning all from the Rhine.

Gosh Karma, your kaftans are beautiful! I’m wearing one today but it’s not homemade!

We are visiting Speyer today, which I had never even heard of. Back to the ship by lunchtime where I think we’ll sit on deck and read. It isn’t as hot here in Germany but I caught the sun yesterday. It is our village festival today and I have seen all sorts of warnings about keeping hydrated etc.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning Mick and All from a calm, warming up New Forest. Was out in the garden of our holiday cottage at 6.15 this morning and 7 tiny NF ponies were grazing outside, so peaceful. Will go into Lymington this morning where there will be the outside market. Back to the cottage later for the Ladies Final at Wimbledon. Pub supper no doubt.

Grammaretto Sat 12-Jul-25 06:57:14

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another sunny day forecast.
I'm having a party today so yesterday I was busy preparing, shopping, cooking, cleaning, making up beds for the family, but in the evening I cooked for my cousin and my friend and we had a very nice time. We put up a gazebo so that the garden will be well shaded. A rare problem to have!

I hope you feel better soon Susan

Happy holidays Grandmabatty, Greyduster and Ash and all travellers.
Keep cool.

Mizuna Sat 12-Jul-25 06:57:17

Good morning from Cornwall where I don't need to describe the weather! I'm hoping for a bit of breeze today which will make all the difference. Even my giant echium is wilting on my patio and they usually survive on nothing.

Couldn't do anything planned yesterday as my breathing was affected by the heat, but my youngest son stood in for me at the school fair. The littlies love their uncle so that was nice for them. I watched tennis all afternoon. Eventually went on my swing seat at 7pm with a book and it was still hot.

Today I'm collecting a lovely painting I've bought from my young artist's exhibition and will then hunker down, sew and watch more tennis.

The photo is of something that arrived on my hand uninvited.

Good morning everyone from a dry, sunny and pleasantly cool mid Essex. I woke at 5 again and opened a few windows, but it’s still very warm upstairs. There was a pleasant breeze yesterday which cooled the temperature a little, I think we have an easterly breeze today which will push the heat towards the west of the country. I watered most of the garden, especially the tomato plants. Bingo yesterday lunch time was fun, but warm as the only ventilation in the room was the open fire doors! I didn’t win anything, but my friends did. We don’t go for the prize money, but for the company and laughs.

I hope all those who are poorly or struggling in any way find some improvement today. Happy Birthday/Anniversary to anyone celebrating today!
Have the best day possible and keep cool!

luluaugust Sat 12-Jul-25 07:06:50

Good morning from a warm W Kent. An early start here to get everything done as early as possible S DD1, SIL and GS4 arrive today for a few days. I just hope we are up to it. I have prepared ahead where I can and DD2 has offered to do a bbq tomorrow. They are easy guests so fingers crossed.
Best wishes all round

GrannyGravy13 Sat 12-Jul-25 07:11:28

Good morning from a glorious S E Essex.

Local shopping first thing, and I have some dry cleaning and a handbag which has been repaired to pick up.

Then it’s going to be a leisurely day, sitting in the garden in the shade with my kindle and going in and out of the Spa Pool.

DH will BBQ later in the evening.

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

cornergran Sat 12-Jul-25 07:25:07

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is wonderfully cool at the moment, I’ve had all our windows open for an hour to cool the rooms. Back to a cave soon.

We went nowhere yesterday, no need, so it was a day at home with lots of liquid. Sitting outside at 10pm is something of a novelty if very enjoyable.

The plan today is an early hour at the sea front, we’ll return via Waitrose for some supplies and to enjoy their air conditioning before heading home to put the fans on. Just today and tomorrow before we are due much cooler weather, a relief until I feel cold!

Safe travels to all on the move. Wishing everyone the best day it can be.

harrigran Sat 12-Jul-25 07:33:01

Good morning from a sunny North Wales.
Yesterday was a shopping day to stock the fridge for the weekend and spent the afternoon in the kitchen making potato salad and preparing other dishes for dinner.
GD2's schoolfriend arrived at 6pm, driven by her father, she had been on an engineering course and is going to spend the next week with us.
I think I will stay put today and sit and read in the shade because tomorrow we are booked to travel up Snowdon, I will be making the return journey by train but the others will be walking down.
Have a good weekend.

NannyJan53 Sat 12-Jul-25 07:36:34

Good morning from a hot and humid Black Country.

Had a pleasant afternoon with my friend, sitting in the shade in her garden, with a glass of Pimms.

MrJ BBQ'd Mackerel last night, and we were sitting outside until after 10pm as it was cooler there than in the house.

Hair appointment at 10.30 today, as we have DGD1's 21st party tonight (she is 21 tomorrow, how is that possible?) Apparently there will be around 130 people there, but there is an outside area in the pub.

Enjoy Lymington NanKate I have visited there a couple of times in the past when we camped in the New Forest.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

baubles Sat 12-Jul-25 07:45:32

Good morning from a gloriously sunny South Lanarkshire.

Photo is the view of Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park as we collected the DGDs from their Art Buds class.

Ice cream cones from the parked van went down well after which we fed the ducks and geese at the Swan Pond before walking home.

Today I’m meeting up with Baggs, another Gransnetter, to visit Govan old church which is now a museum housing Viking artifacts. We have looked previously looked around the outside but the church was closed the last time we were there. I’m looking forward to it.

Have the best day possible everyone.

merlotgran Sat 12-Jul-25 07:47:35

Good morning, everyone from an already hot and sunny south coast. Early gardening for me before escaping the heat to watch Wimbledon.
I’m granny no mates this weekend with friends and family all away so I’ll finally get around to clearing out my fridge and freezer. Tonight’s use up meal will be interesting!
Hope you all have a good day.

Liberty Sat 12-Jul-25 07:59:32

Good morning from an,as yet, cloudy Suffolk. Because we are only about 5 miles from the sea, we don’t see to be getting the unbearably hot weather that others are here.

We don’t have any fans indoors and yet the house has been bearable to be in,with the odd window open. I think it much be something to do with it being built many centuries ago with small rooms, small panel windows.

We went into Norwich yesterday and the heat was intense. No plans to go anywhere today apart from a dog walk shortly. I hope today is a good one for all especially those with health or other worries.

Jaxjacky Sat 12-Jul-25 08:01:58

Morning, from a sunny S Hants, same as merlot. Yesterday’s stretch class was gentle, the butchers visit afterwards in their a/c was lovely!
Pub visit at tea time hot and busy, good to see people though.
Today will be quiet for me, washing, newspaper and an easy dinner, meanwhile MrJ is playing in a golf tournament, the pub charity game. He’s well prepared and I’ll nip into the pub for presentations.
Safe journey to those travelling, MrSar and happy holidays to those away.

Marydoll Sat 12-Jul-25 08:19:13

Good morning from a very sunny Glasgow, where it is 13°C.
It was unbearably hot during the night and I have had little sleep. The heat is affecting my breathing too, Mizuna

Susan, sorry you are feeling so rotten.
Karma, you are so talented. I love that colour.

As I thought, despite weeks of drops, the wax in both ears is impacted.
I have new drops and will take them with other drops for two weeks, then will have an appointment to try and remove it. It was fascinating, to see inside my ears.
Apparently, due the fact I am on blood thinners, it will need to be done over a few sessions, for fear of a bleed in the ear canal.
Why is nothing in my life simple?
Hopefully, that is the reason for my hearing loss and I won't require aids.

I rushed home to get ready to catch the bus to DD's, to find DH not ready and foutering about.
Just as we were leaving (the buses are only every half hour) he decided to bring in the washing.
I went and locked the conservatory doors, then found he was nowhere to be found .
I had locked him out complete with the washing!!
Oh the back door is sticking in the heat, so I went through the conservatory. said he.
This should have been a sign, that our trip out was going to problematic.

Just as we were leaving, I noticed a trail of white powder through the house. Nothing to do with me, said DH. It never is.😉
As we were walking along the road, DH of course was marching miles ahead, I noticed the same trail of white substance. Then I looked at DH's shoes, the heels were crumbling as he walked. 😱
To make matters worse, he had no idea. How could he not notice, that his shoes had no heels?🤣
He ran back to change them, while I hobbled on. I waited and waited at the bus stop, but he never appeared. The bus we had planned to get, flew past, then another one.
I was starting to get anxious, so went to the corner to see if he was coming, but no DH.

I messaged DD and DIL, to say I was getting worried and was going home to look for him. I had visions of him lying dead in the road! A bit of an exaggeration, I know.
Eventually, I spotted him in the distance, near our home. I was raging at him, because he wasn't answering his phone and was almost back home.
His excuse was that I had taken over his part of the wardrobe and he couldn't find a matching pair of shoes!!
So basically, it was all my fault.🤬

By this time, I was starting to experience angina pains and felt lightheaded, due to the extreme heat.
DD phoned to say, that SIL was coming to pick us up and to wait, where we were.
There was no shelter from the sun and I began to feel increasingly more unwell. I got out my heart spray to find it had jammed, I was starting to feel panicky. DH of course was oblivious, because he was standing with his back to me.
Anything wrong he asked. I swear that man lives in a parallel universe.
Just at that, thankfully SIL appeared, with the air conditioning going full blast.
A message appeared on my phone from DIL. Dollie was protesting about walking up the very steep hill in the heat to DD's and had the bright idea that we could we pick her up on the way! Smart move!

We had a lovely family time, but I missed much of the chat. At one point, I realised that I had become my mother, sitting in the corner, oblivious to all that was being said. I did however, hear the lecture from my all of them, that I am doing to much!
We were still sitting out at 11pm, unheard of for DH and I.
It was too late for the bus, so taxis were ordered. My son is like the King, he carries no cash. The bank of mum to the rescue again!
I was flagging very badly and just wanted to go to bed. On entering the bedroom, I thought we had been burgled. There were shoes everywhere.
That man will be the death of me!!

Today, DS2 is having a barbecue, but we have declined.
DIL's family will be there, but I don't feel too good and am so embarrassed at being unable to hear and socialise.

I forgot to wish you a happy holiday, Grandmabatty , enjoy!

Wishing you all a good day.

Marydoll Sat 12-Jul-25 08:19:51

Grammaretto, I hope you have a lovely time. X

Good morning all. A lovely blue sky sunny day in Glasgow.

I will have peace and quiet in the garden this weekend as the workers have the weekend off. I had coffee al fresco listening to the birds and watching them feed. All windows are open with a cool gentle breeze flowing through the house. Not planning on doing much outdoors today, a comfy chair under a tree, book and iPad at hand. Bliss.

Have a pleasant day all.
