Poor kid. I heard this on breakfast news and could not believe it. She is apparently a grade A student in her first year at High School and this will surely stay with her right through her school career now.

The school have apologised but what on earth were they thinking of in the first place?

I guess the buck stops with the Head Teacher and she should definitely be forced to take some training on being proud to be British.

Let's put this into context ......

It's a weapon that the parent can use against the school.
The school cannot publically explain the situation.
And most importantly, the school will NOT disclose any information about the child.

That is what posters on here meant by no one having the full story, or knowing the background.

The very fact that the school have publicly apologised and said their staff will be trained further in policy shows they believe they were in the wrong so no explanation is needed. I am quite sure that if there were legitimate reasons for their stance, they would have said that they couldn't comment on individual cases but stood by their decision. You don't always need the full story to know a mistake has been made.

Let’s hope the fuss dies down

... and that we don't loose more teachers because of yet another parent confusing his role with regard to schooling.

If your child is bullied by either pupils or teachers what is the answer?

Not all teachers are perfect and in the job because they want the best for their pupils although I think most are. Some seem to actively dislike children and humiliate them.

That is not the case in the primary schools my grandchildren attend Allira. It certainly was the case at my high school but I expect they’ve improved as well

Not at primary schools my DGC attended (although when my DC were at primary school then yes!).

Secondary school can be like a bear pit.
