Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

Oh neine that’s just awful, I do hope the scanning machine can be tracked down and you get your scan soon, with surgery to follow.
My back is slightly better today and I’d planned to plant bulbs today - but it’s been raining on and off all morning and is scheduled to rain all afternoon. So I hope to plant them tomorrow when it should be drier! I’ll be forced to wave a duster about this afternoon, which will make me feel virtuous.

Blossoming Fri 31-Oct-25 16:37:10

Good evening dear Kitcheners. So sorry you’re having all that palaver Neine and sorry you’re still having back pain Redcar.
We have been out for 2 walks every day this week, often dodging showers! We don the Big Coats, hats, gloves, etc. and so far we’ve enjoyed them. I think icy weather is going to be a problem though. Somebody has recommended Yaktrax ice and snow grips, has anyone tried them?
We were rewarded with a beautiful double rainbow at the end of today’s walk.

brook2704 Fri 31-Oct-25 17:53:00

Sorry to hear it’s such a hassle neine I hope the GP call on Monday brings some resolution
Definitely one of those days corner, I hope today has been better for you
I’ve done a couple of classes at the gym, aerobics and FitSteps. DH went for a swim whilst I was there so we travelled home together and I didn’t need to get the bus home. Just as well as it’s very windy today. This afternoon I got on with a bit more tidying & decluttering, I listed a few items on Vinted & Ebay and the rest went in the charity shop bag. Nothing much happening here this evening although I’ve got my autumn decorations and candles lit on the fireplace and it’s nice and cosy
Enjoy the evening grannmarie🎃
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

brook2704 Fri 31-Oct-25 17:55:19

Beautiful rainbow Blossoming thank you for the picture and well done with your walking. I’ve not tried the ice and snow grips so can’t help, sorry

Nannytopsy Fri 31-Oct-25 19:56:04

Good idea Brook - I will go and get some candles out! These are today’s dahlias - late to flower but huge!

Grandmabatty Fri 31-Oct-25 20:13:05

I had twelve assorted children for Halloween. They were all very polite and sweet. Then dgss arrived. They were also very polite 😂 but really tired and didn't stay long. The pumpkin is in and the door light switched off. I'm going to bed soon. My leg isn't broken but there's soft tissue damage so I need to rest. It looks like dgs2 will have surgery in his elbow on Monday, poor wee man.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 31-Oct-25 20:23:51

Back from an early dinner (Malaysian) pj’s on, collapsed on the sofa 🍷

nn multiple problems for you to sort, wishing you luck 🤞

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 31-Oct-25 21:20:05

Oh neine I’m not surprised you bawled your eyes out. A body can only take so much stress before a release valve is called for. I hope you get some much needed information and reassurance next week dear lady. x

Redcar Fri 31-Oct-25 21:44:51

blossoming my sister in law has some sort of grip things which attach to the soles of her shoes and she says they’re brilliant.
grandmabatty I’m pleased that your leg isn’t broken, but any kind of soft tissue damage is painful. Sorry your poor dgs2 will have to have an operation on his elbow., poor little chap.

nannytopsy what beautiful dahlias! I have some that always bloom late, usually in time to be floored by the first frost of the winter. This year they’re just blown to pieces by the wind! I should pick them, but no doubt they’re full of earwigs.

I’m about go to bed, so night night everyone, sleep well.

Jaxjacky Fri 31-Oct-25 22:14:23

Late for me - I’d be crying and stamping my foot neine you poor love, I hope this is resolved quickly.
Frustrating day for you corner, the fates weren’t with you.
It’s been wet on and off today, heavy rain this evening, soggy witches and werewolves, MrJ went to bowls and soon returned. Someone had double locked up the hall with a key bowls don't have, alarm and all, so after various phone calls, he grumped home.
Malaysian, mmm, not eaten that for years, use to go to a lovely restaurant in St John’s Wood when I was on courses with work.
Snackish now - but it’s bedtime 🥱

Yiayia4 Sat 01-Nov-25 14:14:21

What a rotten situation Neine I hope things work out very soon.🌻

Spiro is now with us,we collected him yesterday afternoon from Gatwick. All went well and he’s happy and eating fine.Lovely to have a cat,it’s been many years.

Pleased your feeling better grannmarie. Have a good weekend everyone.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 01-Nov-25 14:32:45

Spiro looks very settled Yia and looks exactly like my Molly.
I shall post a photo later when I can try to get the same “composition and pose”
They could really be siblings.
I-hope you will all live very happily together.
My kindest thoughts will be with you for the appointment on Tuesday.

TillyTrotter Sat 01-Nov-25 15:17:37

Lovely, lucky kitty Yiayia,
Utbb I think I have a contender for a 3rd sibling …..

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Nov-25 15:39:23

Spiro is a gorgeous kitty and is very lucky to have you

Yiayia4 Sat 01-Nov-25 15:46:13

Looks like Spiros has English cousins.🐈🐈‍⬛🐕

cornergran Sat 01-Nov-25 16:09:51

Spiro is very handsome. We can’t have cats as Mr C is allergic to them. As I plan to keep Mr C no cats here. grin. Hope your husbands appointment is helpful yia.

We bought spikey things that fit with elastic for our shoes when we went off on a trip to the arctic circle blossoming. Worked a treat. Sorry, can’t recall what they are called.

Hope your back is less uncomfortable redcar and you feel more settled neine.

Hope you’re resting grandmab. You’ll be pleased when the pain has settled.

My week has continued to be oh so frustrating, one thing after another which I won’t bore you all with other than today’s challenge. We set out for lunch, usually takes no more than 12 minutes, the route takes us over the motorway. Said motorway was at a standstill, the junction jammed, not all motorists exhibiting calm and common sense. Much blocking of access to the minor roads. 42 minutes later we made it to our lunch. Well fed we headed to a supermarket to find the route at a standstill. Why? No idea. There was much laughter in the car, no point getting het up. It seems the traffic fairy was out to get us today. Never mind, home in the warm now. Worse things happen at sea as my dad was fond of saying.

Must finish cleaning the kitchen. I was half way through when lunch called. There will be little time before our friend gets here tomorrow, I dint want her fearing food poisoning when I cook lunch grin

Be good everyone. Look after yourselves.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 01-Nov-25 17:24:54

One of our previous cats, China, was Spiro’s double!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 01-Nov-25 17:30:10

China at the age of 18.

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Nov-25 18:20:09

You’re not having much luck corner with your arrangements, how tiresome.
Good to know Spiro has settled Yia I’ll be 🤞on Tuesday.
Another day of heavy showers, so I’ve superficially cleaned, wasted time on the net and sorted out dinner.
Have a lovely evening all.

Yiayia4 Sat 01-Nov-25 18:38:19

Wow lots of Spiros around 🤣

Grandmabatty Sat 01-Nov-25 19:05:19

I've been quite lazy today Cornergran. I have stripped the bed, got the bedding washed and dried and remade it. Then emptied and loaded the dishwasher and tidied up the kitchen and cleaned the bathroom. Lots of resting in between. Traffic jams are so common these days. Too many cars on the road. Dgs2 has to be at the hospital for eight tomorrow morning so I'm looking after dgs1. He is getting his elbow pinned and the adults, including me, are quite anxious. Hopefully he'll be first on the list as he likes his food and doesn't understand why he needs to fast! Enjoy the rest of your evening Kitcheners

Redcar Sat 01-Nov-25 19:21:15

grandmabatty your poor little dgs2, I hope he survives being starved! He’ll be desperate for his breakfast after his operation. I hope the operation goes smoothly and he’s not in too much pain afterwards.
yiayia I hope your DH’s appointment goes well on Tuesday. Good that Spiro has settled down well.
cornergran there’s so much traffic about these days, our major road has been closed at some time every day in the last week due to crashes. The nearest town has been gridlocked every day. My back is a bit more comfortable today and I managed to plant up 3 pots of bulbs, but have done nothing since!
Have a pleasant evening everyone, lots of fireworks round here this evening, unfortunately I can’t see them, they’re too far away!

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Nov-25 20:01:32

Best of luck to your grandson tomorrow Grandmabatty and the anxious family.
Better news on your back Redcar may it continue.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 01-Nov-25 21:40:46

I am just back from a meal out with my friend across the road.
It was enjoyable but I don’t get the same sense of enjoyment that I used to get, how is that?
The portions are too large, I can really only manage one course and I don’t finish that, I feel so full when I get home, I am turning into a grouch.
I think this is old age and I don’t enjoy it.
I also feel eating out is so expensive when you don’t get anything out of it.
So ungrateful of me I know.
Also the lesion on my nose is sore and unsightly, is anything ok with me, I fear not.
How bad I feel for those of you with real problems and the need to be upset.
I shall give myself a good telling off and hope to feel more like myself tomorrow.
Good night to you all.

brook2704 Sat 01-Nov-25 22:11:34

Such gorgeous cat pictures thank you all, Spiro looks like he’s settling in well
A good day today, hair done and the fridge fully restocked. Some admin still to do but it’ll wait a while longer
Uttb 💐
Pleased your back is a bit better Redcar but take it easy
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x
