Goodbye Duke & Duchess of York.

Following the accusations earlier this week, Prince Andrew has relinquished his title Duke of York. Same for his ex-wife.

He will still keep his title of Prince Andrew.

But I guess that's the end of the titled road for Fergie.

On a side note, I've just read a post on Twitter about an aide to an American state governor being sentenced for 'engaging in sex' with a six-year-old - yes, a six-year-old. That's rape by anyone's standards - and I wish press reports would make that clear.

I assume there was no penetration, so not rape.

Why would you assume that?

Don’t send Andrew overseas. No one wants him!

Well, if we're going to debate semantics here, the precise legal definition of rape differs from one country to another - and in the case of the US, even from one state to another. In the UK, yes it does have to involve penetration, but in the US, not necessarily so.

I think he was forced into this and quite rightly so and not before time imo. The timing is interesting in view of the book coming out on Tuesday which may reveal more problems for Andrew and I agree that more may be revealed over the China links. It's a blow to his pride I imagine but will have little effect on his sheltered, pampered lifestyle.
To think that he went abroad as the UK's representative for trade is appalling.

ronib Mon 20-Oct-25 13:26:49

I was under the impression that Epstein paid which is more believable than thinking that Andrew did. Always short of cash so unlikely to have 15k ? Anniebach
Also Virginia G was also accusing her father of sexual abuse so a tortured woman. So sad.

friendlygingercat Mon 20-Oct-25 13:32:43

I feel a bit sorry for the man. He has exercised poor judgement, arrogance and insensitivity but he has not been convicted of any crime in this country. Not the sharpest tool in the box but stupidity is not a crime.

So he lied to conceal things that happened in the past. Many people do. Been there, done it, got the t-shrt.

Remained friends with someone who had committed a serious crime. Done that too.

He asked his bodyguard to dig up dirt on Virginia Giuffre . This is standard practice in law. Nothing new there.

I feel more contempt for Michelle Mone who profited massively from fraud at the expense of the tax payer and apparently cannot be touched.

Thank you, Calendargirl, I didn't know that (must keep up 😁).

That sounds preferable, big enough for the lifestyle they have to lead, with Nanny etc but not too ostentatious.

There are going to be no staff 'living in' in the new home being occupied by the Prince of Wales and his family. They will all be in other royal estate houses nearby.

This is the same as in their current home.

Thank you ronib , I didn’t know she accused her father, it seems so wrong that he found her a job as a masseuse . Possibly Andrew wouldn’t think any girl would want payment for sleeping with him .

I would like the accounts made public of all monies paid from the exchequer to Andrew and the rest of the royal family.

No live in staff still, apparently.

🤔

(I assume the housekeeping staff, cleaners, nanny, cook, admin staff and so on just come in daily. Cannot imagine how they function otherwise).

X post MOnica, sorry.

Dulostwo11 Mon 20-Oct-25 14:02:15

Send them ALL to France.
They will know what to do with Whole family

Esmay Mon 20-Oct-25 14:05:43

I haven't read the books ,but I have to admit to bring sorely tempted .
I just so sad for everyone involved .
And let's face it-people are making money out of the whole foul event .
I wonder just how many men in the UK alone are quaking in their boots now that things are more open .
As for Clinton -I can only magine ....

Jockytaff Mon 20-Oct-25 14:22:02

To Casdon - I'm sure they'll get over it.

Casdon Mon 20-Oct-25 14:26:43

I don’t think so Jockytaff. I wouldn’t if it were my father, it would always be with me.

Andrew does not receive public money and has not since he was no longer a working Royal.

The Sovereign Grant Accounts are open to public scrutiny if you wish to investigate them.
You can access them online in several different ways.

I don’t think so Jockytaff. I wouldn’t if it were my father, it would always be with me.

Me neither, a dreadful thing for young women, who are now mothers too, to have to live with.

ronib Mon 20-Oct-25 14:34:41

Best not go there - you have absolutely no way of knowing what services your own father required when single, divorced, unhappy or otherwise having relationship problems. He certainly isn’t going to tell you.

Plantglas2. I read somewhere a while back that Camilla is after the Royal Lodge for her family when Charles passes. I wouldnt be suprised if it was Camila was behind this.

Casdon Mon 20-Oct-25 14:39:50

Words fail me ronib.

Her family?

Camilla's family all have their own homes.

Camilla, I would think, would be very happy to retire back to Ray Mill House should she outlive her husband.

Behind what? Spreading unwarranted gossip about her dear brother and sister-in-law?

You really have to be kidding.
