Good morning to all the night owls
I m late waking this morning and seem to have missed my
3 am slot however 4.30 am will do ( 4 and a half hours is positively a very long sleep for me) who knows I might even drop of again for a doze before I get up at 6 ready for some work
So who s around ?

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 04:00:14

Nice to know someone’s around
Now going to start some sudukos see it that make me sleepy
Doesn’t feel so cold and can’t hear any lashing rain or wind Fingers crossed

Greenfinch Sun 30-Nov-25 04:08:09

I’m quite warm sitting up in bed but the cat is prowling around. I wish he’d settle.

Liaise Sun 30-Nov-25 04:17:31

I am also awake. It is so annoying. Need to keep calm. It’s nice to know there are others out there who have the same problem.
I sometimes read my kindle when I can’t sleep (which is most nights).

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 04:29:08

I think the clue is not to feel annoyed or upset about being awake accept it for what it is , you often find that once you stop worrying about it you settle into a better routine.
Who knows we might all get another doze in zzzzz

Clock said 3.10 when I first woke then I drifted off again till now. Just made the usual ☕️. the rain was ridiculous yesterday, driving along the A1M was not good, anyhow , weather says cold and sunny today ….

I haven't been on GN for some time. Life gets in the way, and I don't actually know what I do all day anyway. Like this 3am thread though, and to note that most are of the same mind. Must be nice though, waking up at this time in Oz!

grandMattie Sun 30-Nov-25 05:17:30

I agree with you Bluebelle; since I have stopped worrying about my hours of sleep and acceptedit, I feel a great deals worried and stressed.
In my case, I woke up at 2.25. I refused to give in! So I dozed until 4.30 which is ok.
I can have a nap after lunch after which I’ll arrange foliage for three little advent candle posies for my neighbours, today being the first Sunday of Advent.

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 05:24:33

I think in life we can fight but when fighting only makes things worse then it’s best to relax and accept and you may be surprised
Good luck all the ‘less than solid sleepers’ X

cornergran Sun 30-Nov-25 06:06:16

Tried a different tactic last night. Each time I woke, probably 4 times, I waited it out trying to stay relaxed. Have I had more sleep? Probably not. Was it a more relaxed night? Maybe, but goodness it was boring. Am I less tired this morning? Definitely not!

I’ve not worried about lack of sleep for many years, just accepting it’s how it is. My internal message is I’m comfortable, not too warm, not too cold, I’m relaxed and it doesn't matter if I’m not asleep.

It was more frustrating when I worked because I needed to have a clear head although I found I could always function well enough. Now I adjust the days accordingly. If I’m really tired I leave what I call anything needing a brain to another day. I don’t nap in the day, somehow can’t although I do try to learn from Mr C who could win gold medals for daytime napping and invariably sleeps soundly at night. smile.

I have not been awake long after anther different night.
Yesterday, instead of having an afternoon nap, which I desperately wanted, I went out after lunch to a garden centre with my GD and her friend and I enjoyed as I knew I would, I hadn’t been out of the door since last Sunday
We admired all the Christmas stuff for sale and had coffee and cake, but of course was so tired when we got back that I was asleep before 8:30 then inevitably awake by 11.
I last looked at the clock at 2:30 , hence waking just now.
I shall adjust my day now accordingly.

Good morning early risers. I had an excellent sleep for me. Asleep I think.at 10.30ish and didn't wake till 5ish. Inspite of grandchildren being here this weekend and leaving lights on all over the landing.

JamesandJon33 Sun 30-Nov-25 06:43:55

Awake between 2:30 and 4: 30, then drifted back to sleep. Quiet day again today , so perhaps a nap later.

Mollygo Sun 30-Nov-25 07:02:57

Slept right through till the alarm. That’s a good start to the day!

Aveline Sun 30-Nov-25 07:09:30

Terrible night's sleep. My Fitbit is furious with me. Awake at 2.17 (thanks digital watch) for a couple of hours then a doze till 4.32 then doze until 6. Feel seriously not right. Boring day ahead taking amazingly, dull loosely related student for a dull lunch. I'll probably drop off there!

Awful night here I was awake at 2am I have a big cold sore on my eyelid it’s both burning and itching, then DH woke with a bad headache, what a pair ! Turned and tossed until 6.
Now DH watching Match of the day, I’m going to find something to watch on my iPad. Have a good day everyone.

Aveline Sun 30-Nov-25 07:28:55

A cold sore on your eyelid? Ooh so sore. Hope it clears up soon

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 07:45:18

Is it not more likely to be a stye ?

Grannynannywanny Sun 30-Nov-25 08:00:20

I don’t want to alarm you Erica23 but what you’ve described on your eyelid sounds like shingles. It’s important you have it checked as you may need to urgently start a course of antiviral medicine to prevent damage to your eye.

Erica23 Sun 30-Nov-25 08:31:48

Hi yes it did cross my mind last night about it being shingles, but ive had cold sores before, around my eye, and also on my cornea since I was about ten years old, Also I've never had chicken pox so shouldn’t get shingles.
My theory is I started with this instead of chickenpox. My best friend in primary school never had them either, but when her son contracted them as a baby she got them too and was very poorly. Maybe I have some strange immunity, my own DC and DGC had them but not me 🤞
Thank you for mentioning it though, its a flipping nuisance.

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 08:57:17

I wouldn’t leave it to fate Erica
A old sore is herpes which can effect the eye but it does need specialised treatment not just leaving
I hope you get some medical help anything on the eye is so sore because we blink so regularly

BlueBelle Sun 30-Nov-25 09:52:57

Sorry that should read ‘could be’ not ‘is’ and cold sore not old sore oh my oh my oh for an edit button

Went to bed at 3.30. Got up at noon, when my partner came home after a 20 mile run.
Just eaten a breakfast with a croissant which was lovely, the breakfast was cooked for me.
Hope everyone has a good day.
