Mine is Stop The Cavalry (Jonah Lewie?)
I know lots of people really dislike it but I find myself humming it when it’s played on the radio.

Always Last Christmas for me, also Santa Baby but has to be Eartha Kit.

I wish it was Christmas Every Day?? Kill me now!

Fairytale of New York.

Just heard Chris Rea has died. Very sad. Good to know that Driving Home for Christmas will away trigger memories of him.

Greenfinch Mon 22-Dec-25 15:10:28

Feliz Navidad

I like a lot of Christmas so gasoline difficult to chose a favourite.
I am quite surprised that so many love Fairy Tale of New York. We sing it in our choir and I hate it.
It is really a sad story and I usually think I’d like to leave the room when we get to it in the programme.

I love it. It is different from the usual Christmas songs, most of which I dislike. Mind you, I saw an interview with Shane McGowan's sister on TV who said that she can't listen to it now.

Oh that is sad * Greyduster*.

The only ones I like are Fairytale of New York, 2000 Miles by the Pretenders and Live Aid. I don't like any of the others particularly Santa Baby.

Fairytale of New York or a very catchy tune by Bing Crosby. I heard it on an advert last Christmas and it came on the radio yesterday as we were driving home. It's Mele Kalikimaka. It's the Hawaiian way of saying Merry Christmas.

Fairy tale of New York (has anyone heard the version by Grace Petrie?)

Youngerthanspringtime Mon 22-Dec-25 16:21:15

Grannydarkhair - I don't know that Bob Dylan album and I am a fan.
Thanks, will look into that

ginny Mon 22-Dec-25 16:23:23

I know I said earlier that I coul stand Fairy Tale of New York, seems I’m unusual.
A song about a couple who met with great expectations and ended up broken and disliking each other intensely. Doesn’t seem very much like Christmas to me.

gentleshores Mon 22-Dec-25 16:31:33

Greg Lake "I believe in Father Christmas", but Jonah Lois is a close second and Wham are close third!

ruthiek Mon 22-Dec-25 16:33:50

Dominic the donkey it makes me laugh so much and my GC’s love it xx

lizzypopbottle Mon 22-Dec-25 16:44:33

All I want for Christmas is you-ooh baby! I only love it because I have to get up and dance! 💃

WelshPoppy Mon 22-Dec-25 16:54:46

Never sure if it's a carol, but I love O Holy Night sung by a strong bass baritone not a warbly woman. Bowie and Bing's Little Drummer Boy and Jim Reeves' C H R I S T M A S.

Bluecat Mon 22-Dec-25 17:03:02

Fairy Tale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty McColl

Gaudete by Steeleye Span

River by Joni Mitchell

Santa Claus Is Back In Town by Elvis

I’d forgotten about Greg Lake! I saw him with Emerson, Lake and Palmer at the Isle of Wight festival in 1970.
