Let's keep a happy thread going over the Christmas season.

I read this on Twitter, it made me happy tchsmile ❤️:

Jury selection - yesterday
Man: I can’t serve; I’m away for weekend.
Judge: We don’t sit at weekends.
Man: I’m away till Monday. I’m 54, a bachelor & it’s my 1st time in love.
Judge: Then you GO and you GO with my blessing.

Truly an epic moment!

He was very lucky to have a compassionate Judge, perhaps the accused won't be so lucky !!

My OH and I are we spending Christmas day alone (together) but a good friend has invited us to spend it with her and her partner - she said her awful cooking would take my mind off my mum who died in August!!!

We start our journey back to UK tomorrow - not had Christmas there for several years - looking forward to seeing everyone.

I met some lovely people today in Edinburgh at the meet up. I came away from the lunch with a smile.smile

lemongrove Wed 13-Dec-17 20:31:09

Did you wear your faux leopardskin coat Mary and the
Silver stilettos?

Had a happy couple of days since the snow, making a snowman with DGC and attending their nativity play.
All the houses near the school had a melting snowman in their gardens. All that fun.tchsmile

Just back from watching our 9 year old DGD sing a solo in a Christmas concert at her school. This is our 8th year of doing the school run there, and we really feel part of this village school community. Just one more DGC to start in Reception next September!

I went to DGS, year 2, nativity this morning. He was Balthazar. Got all his words right and smiled all the time.
I phoned this evening to congratulate him and asked if he’d enjoyed it. No he didn’t!
When I said that he had a lovely smile all the time he said that was because Mr.? Has said he had to ? even if he didn’t want to!
Don’t you just love them?

I went to my daughter's 36 week scan this morning and saw my 5th grandchild. Very excited I had only ever seen pictures before. This evening we went to my eldest granddaughter's Christmas Concert, carols always bring a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.

I went to Bethlehem this afternoon. It was Buzzing!
(A new take on a nativity play, funny but very sweet too)

Congratulations Teetime, and family. A GGD , how wonderful. I am besotted with mine. tchgrin

I'm off to meet my 85 year old aunt today, on holiday in the UK from South Africa. I love meeting up with her because she likes to reminisce about what I was like as a little girl and she was 17, helping my mother with her babies smile
As my parents both died when I was in my early 40s, it fills a gap, and I love hearing her tales of me as a child.

chelseababy Tue 19-Dec-17 12:35:48

I've just heard I've won a kindle copy of the Gransnet January book club book. Will enjoy that over the holidays.

I enjoy the run up to Christmas, I like the lights and the shop window decorations. I love to put up the tree and decorate the house and put a wreath on the door.
But the thing I look forward to most, I am ashamed to say, is the food. I don't have to worry about entertaining the food, or buying the food an equal number of presents, all the food expects me to do is to cook it and eat it. It never lets me down.
I also like the fact that Christmas comes around every year, so if this one is not wonderful, I can always think about the next one.
Today I will ice my cake. It has sunk a bit in the middle, but hey, it should taste good.

lemongrove Tue 19-Dec-17 16:20:31

I have now decorated the house, and very nice it looks too, full of light.smile
We have also done most of the food shopping too ( always nice to have that done.)
Am settling back in comfort now, looking at the candles and sipping an early Baileys, bliss.

nanaK54 Tue 19-Dec-17 16:20:49

Yay! to a happy thread!

I have finished work today for Christmas and not back until 5th January smile

I will get to see all five of my beautiful grandchildren over Christmas - what's not to be happy about?!

NannyTee Tue 19-Dec-17 17:23:01

I'm just babysitting my DDs 3 children. 7,6& 18 months. We've just found the tot behind the Christmas tree with a face full of chocolate. I told DD to put the tree chocs up high. That cheeky chocolate face haha.

Bathsheba Tue 19-Dec-17 17:24:33

I have the tree up and decorated and I have wrapped all then presents (well, except for two I have yet to buy tchgrin). Food prep is underway. And on Sunday we saw our little GD in her first Nativity, dressed as an angel ?

Bathsheba Tue 19-Dec-17 17:25:12

*the presents.

NanaandGrampy Tue 19-Dec-17 20:21:12

At last .... a thread where I can say.........

I love Christmas!!!

I love the lights and decorations. The shopping, the presents, the delight in the eyes of both little and big kids alike. I don’t care about the commercialism , because there are moments of sheer joy and happiness that has nothing to do with gifts or money.

I’m looking forward to every glittery, tinselled moment :-)

Grannyknot Tue 19-Dec-17 21:16:35

NanaandGrampy that is so true! Like the bin men with their Christmas hats on this morning (I know they were probably angling for a bonus - their smiles were worth it!)grin
