We're putting up the tinsel and gathering together a few chairs in preparation for the Gransnet Christmas party. If you're on your own on Christmas Eve/Day, or simply find a spare minute on the day and fancy popping in to celebrate, please do. There'll be a welcome mulled wine from HQ. tchsmile wine

Been swigging Amaretto all afternoon. Might be a few dregs of that left if anyone's interested! tchgrin

Ok, I have some homemade blackberry wine with vodka added, it’s 3 years old and tastes like alcoholic ribina and some sloe gin. Will join in the party tomorrow after my short cycle ride If I am not asleep in the chair.

AlieOxon Sun 24-Dec-17 18:25:11

Give me a gin someone...I have just run out of energy tonight.
Last night I got exhausted seeing my grandsons and then had to drive home, not enough sleep and have been going all day, finally wrapped presents for sister and partner tomorrow..........
I'm supposed to be making bread sauce etc for tomorrow but - no.
I will sit and have a - no several - virtual gins and watch whatever goes on here or on TV - then I am going to BED.

Anything I have not done may get done tomorrow.
Have a good Christmas everyone.

My bread sauce has come from M&S you are being too hard on yourself Annie, seriously wishing you all you wish yourself this Christmas and that goes for everyone, Pink Gin is seriously good.

annsixty Sun 24-Dec-17 21:42:45

Sorry that should have been Alie not Annie. Blame it on Pink Gin!!

AlieOxon Mon 25-Dec-17 07:28:13

I'm up too damn early, but time to have a slow start. I am glad this is here, I will pop in from time to time.

I'll bring the virtual mincepies I never made....
I enclose several bottles of wine to put in the punch for later!

(PS Can't give family anything but made bread sauce, it's our tradition. But they are bringing most of the food)

Happy Christmas all. A quiet one for us, not at all like old times. Just let the cats out and thinking of starting the veg, no hurry at all. Very quiet and peaceful here.

I have some delicious waitrose amaretto tiffin we can share, it is very rich, a little goes a long way!

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 25-Dec-17 08:28:15

Morning everyone. Just dropping in to wish everyone a lovely day, whatever you are doing and wherever you are. Slightly too early for the mulled wine so I have brought mince pies (regular and GF)

annsixty Mon 25-Dec-17 08:29:02

A very Happy and peaceful day to all.
Is it too early for bacon sarnies?
Just let me know how many rashers to get ready and I will start frying, or grilling for the health conscious among you.
Also is 11 am too early for a glass of something fizzy ( NOT lemonade)?

Amira15 Mon 25-Dec-17 10:01:51

No -one coming but I'm doing the full works for DH and I so plenty of food to spare shall I bring something. There is plenty left of the huge panettone I bought for toast at breakfast and the freezer is full of buffet things we shall probably never eat. We live in the Lake District and usually have a lovely long walk before having our meal early evening. Despite it pouring down with rain since yesterday afternoon put my walking gear on this morning but that has now been taken back off as the rain is relentless - feel a bit at a loss now ! Ah well Merry Christmas to all.

Grandmother1234 Mon 25-Dec-17 11:14:31

Thank you Gransnet for being here. I was a bit lonely last night and whiled away a few hours reading posts. smile Today I will be cooking a small meal to eat with another lonely soul. Then looking forward to great British telly! (imho!!)

annsixty Mon 25-Dec-17 12:08:28

I am just about to make cream cheese and smoked salmon on brown, any takers?
I am forgoing any alcohol with it as I am mortified to have to say that I can't tolerate it as I once could, and I do want a predinner G&T and some nice wine with my meal.
