Will that be enough, do you think? tchgrin

Anyway, off to bed now - it’s half past eleven and I need to get to sleep before Father Christmas comes.
Happy Christmas, everybody! ????

Throw a few sprouts in that should be enough Witzend. Merry Christmas ,!,

Callistemon Thu 24-Dec-20 23:40:39

Pigs in blankets are a must on Boxing Day so don't eat them all tomorrow.

Merry Christmas Witzend and everybody.

Ha ha, eat a few before they reach the table, chefs prerogative. Merry Christmastchsmile

We can beat that. We have 32!! DH loves them, but really?

WOODMOUSE49 Fri 25-Dec-20 01:09:05

Just how big are your pigs grin

BBbevan Fri 25-Dec-20 05:26:19

About middle finger size. Some, I don’t know where they came from ,are plant based ? They look very unappetising.

24 here, but there's another lot in the freezer! Again, just me and Mr P, but I can guarantee that not a single one will be wasted!

B9exchange Fri 25-Dec-20 09:47:11

At least tge turkey farm swapped our bird for something a lot smaller, or we would have been eating it till Easter!

Rosalyn69 Fri 25-Dec-20 10:03:30

There is no such thing as too many pigs in blankets. ?

Witzend Fri 25-Dec-20 10:23:08

Mine are on the big side, woodmouse - a third of a ‘best’ sausage inside half a rasher of streaky bacon.

I simmered the turkey giblets for ages yesterday for the gravy, then spilt half of the results, and very belatedly realised that I’d forgotten the neck - which was in the other end, so that’s gone in for another simmer today.
Still, if that’s the only mini disaster with this dinner, I won’t be complaining.
Nearly time for some Buck’s Fizz! Cheers, everybody! ?

Nortsat Fri 25-Dec-20 10:33:41

We’ve got no pigs in blankets...

The grocery delivery substituted them with buffalo chicken wings. I don’t even know what buffalo chicken wings are ... and I hate chicken wings.

Witzend flaunting your 16 ... is cruel and unusual punishment... stoppit ...

Marydoll Fri 25-Dec-20 11:16:13

I have lost mine. Do you think I could borrow some?.

Jane10 Fri 25-Dec-20 11:33:56

I didn't get pigs in blankets this year. I did buy some extra stuffing though. I love it!!

EllanVannin Fri 25-Dec-20 11:43:02

I'll have to make my own---2 normal sized sausages and wrapped around with 2 rashers of bacon. They can go in with the roasties and parsnips later. Same thing, just a bit bigger grin

Coolgran65 Fri 25-Dec-20 13:27:15

16 for 3 of us. Just about right.

BBbevan Fri 25-Dec-20 14:53:07

Well he ate 9 !!!

Puzzler61 Fri 25-Dec-20 17:01:09

I made 5 biggish ones with generous bacon ‘blankets’.
DH has eaten 4 and I ate 1. (I did them for him and just pinched 1).

WOODMOUSE49 Fri 25-Dec-20 20:14:13

Made 6 for 2 of us. These were with venison steaks. I ate the last one which was DH's. He was full.
I did middle finger sized chipolatas with a full rasher of smoked streaky.

Spangler Fri 25-Dec-20 23:48:16

We didn't have pigs in blankets. We didn't have Brussels sprouts and we didn't have turkey. But we did have a guard of honour and a wonderful meal it was.

Here's hoping that you have all had a peaceful and joyful Christmas.

ALDI is selling 2 metre long "Soldier in Blanket" which is cheaper per 100gm than individual bite-size minis!, so Grandad can still remain Chief Carver! tchhmm

In Scotland they are also known as "Kilted Soldiers". I wonder why!? tchblush
Happy Boxing Day! Don't get too merry on the sherry! tchhmm
Down the Hatch!
Good Health

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Dec-20 07:54:22

We shared our pigs with our dog. He can’t have turkey
As he’s allergic to all things avian ? so it was sausages for his Christmas dinner.

Marydoll Sat 26-Dec-20 08:30:57

Never heard of kilted soldiers used in Scotland, as an alternative for name for pigs in blankets.

I found our missing ones, so all was well.

Grannynannywanny Sat 26-Dec-20 09:21:31

I saw this posted on another thread a few days ago. I can’t clearly remember now who posted it. I think it might have been Mawbe. I thought it was very funny.
