After much eye rolling, inspections, and laughter about my washing up skills, or lack thereof, I have pushed the boat out and bought something boys will really appreciate for Christmas.

Now they can be happy that nan isn't trying to give them upset stomachs.

So, that's their present out of the way.
Secondhand, never been used, bargain!

Granniesunite Mon 06-Dec-21 21:03:11

Love it. Hope they have many happy hours playing with their new toy.?

Perfect present buying in action.

midgey Mon 06-Dec-21 21:07:33

Brilliant! That will teach them to be rude about your skills! ?

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 21:07:50

Honestly, it's like having forensics in my place when they inspect the plates before using them.
I just can't see that well, and my fingers have gone a bit funny, so now I can't feel the crusty old baked on food either.
This little beauty will take care of it all, even though I've had to fiddle around to fit it on a worktop.

Excellent MissA a gift that keeps on giving, and a bargain as well smile

Is that a table top dishwasher ?

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 21:21:37

Yep.
Uses only 3 litres of water per wash, too, so less than a sink.
I wonder if I could get away with half a dishwasher tablet scrooge

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 21:24:48

Yes, it is, crazyh.
I've been thinking about one and researching for ages.
This one comes out really well by reviews, but it would have been expensive, considering it's size.
I found someone selling it because she just couldn't get it to fit in her kitchen.

Urmstongran Mon 06-Dec-21 21:28:14

Fabulous MissA! Well done you putting such a lot of thought into your gift buying this year. At that size at least you didn’t have to gift wrap it either - another win!

I have a slimline dishwasher even though it's just me making the washing up. I'm sure it saves water because it takes a long time for the water to get hot in the kitchen whereas it's two seconds in the shower (thank goodness)

I hate seeing water going down the drain. I can fill watering cans in the summer while I wait for it to get hot but I don't think the garden would welcome any more at the moment.

Grannybags Mon 06-Dec-21 21:33:45

Brilliant! ?

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 21:36:53

I fill this one from the top, and have rigged up a container for it to empty into.
It takes around a minute or two to heat up. smile

merlotgran Mon 06-Dec-21 21:40:05

Sounds ideal, MissA You will have a clean and tidy sink to admire. grin

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 21:44:20

Yes.
I am going to use the water out of the container to soak the plates first, then swill it around the sink.

Anyone would think it's my present, the way I'm going on. grin

MissAdventure

So, that's their present out of the way.
Secondhand, never been used, bargain!

Mine used to get a tea towel each from Father Christmas ? grin

Ps it will change your life. I remember my DB and SIL buying one before most people and I thought why?
Now I'd hate to be without one.

merlotgran Mon 06-Dec-21 22:27:01

I bought my first one two days after DH's 40th birthday party which I was stupid enough to agree to having at home.

It took me those two days to do all the clearing up!

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 22:44:27

It's a constant round if washing up here.
I just get it done, then another pile appears from the depths of "somebody's" bedroom.
If there is an easier option, I'm taking it, these days.

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 22:45:17

Of! Not if. angry
Told you my fingers have gone all funny.

Chewbacca Mon 06-Dec-21 22:49:22

That's a fantastic bargain MissAdventure and I do love a bargain, especially at Christmas! I looked at those for my other house and the reviews were all good; water, energy and detergent efficient. Are you sure you don't want to keep it for yourself? You could get them socks? Or underpants? wink

Calistemon Mon 06-Dec-21 23:02:59

You're so much nicer than me MissA

I have several Christmas tea towels on offer, hardly used ?

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 23:05:06

And me plates fit in, chewy.
That was a common gripe about the countertop ones.
I reckon I've spent almost as much on socks as the dishwasher.
It was only purchased new at the end of September! Result!

MissAdventure Mon 06-Dec-21 23:12:27

I can't stop talking about my their present.
It takes 4 place settings, so I reckon that's enough for 2 greedy people.

JackyB Tue 07-Dec-21 08:49:00

If it takes less than a whole dishwasher tablet, perhaps you could try using the old-fashioned loose powder. A teaspoon would probably suffice.
