Then a thank you to the armed forces. Made me think that this generation of royals needs to move forward a bit - the armed forces aren't the centre of everyone's lives anymore.

Couple of minutes reminding us about the dedication of people in public service. And trying to align himself and his family with those people.

"A time of great anxiety and hardship"...which he is doing nothing about except making charitable donations with other people's money and reminding us to be nice to each other. What's your government doing about it, Sir?

All those religious organisations providing support for those who need it? I'd rather his government did something about that.

It was a Christmas message by a Head of State. Pretty similar in general content to a number from around the world including republics.

Not quite sure what Republicans think would have been different if it had been a President delivering it. Including the wealth and comfort of the deliverer. Ive yet to see an impoverished President😬

The President might be able to actually do something about it, and we wouldn't have to spend millions that could be spent on supporting the population of this country, on watching some religious fella putting his jewelled hat on in a televised ceremony.

I particularly want to pay tribute to all those wonderfully kind people who so generously give food or donations, or that most precious commodity of all, their time, to support those around them in greatest need, together with the many charitable organisations which do such extraordinary work in the most difficult circumstances.

I, personally, don't need people with inherited status telling me what a good citizen I am. I don't actually need people in any position of power, elected or not, praising me for doing something which is essentially being a normal human being with a normal response to people in trouble. It's patronising.

Just the way I think, I suppose. But there are many like me, I imagine.

He seemed to me to be giving Royal approval to the need for volunteers to support those around them in greatest need and that depresses me. However, I do like him and at least he has had some experience of life outside the confines of Royal palaces. I rarely listened to the Queen's speeches but I was surprised that the young Parsleys wanted to hear what Charles had to say. Perhaps the RF are offering something to the younger generation with the promise of revealing a human touch.
