It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

My greatest wish is that my poorly Mum didn't have to suffer any more from Parkinson's/dementia and severe osteoporosis. She is well looked after in her Care Home but has no quality of life any more. I hope she recognises us on Christmas Day, last year she slept through most of our visit. I will be decorating her room with some Christmas lights this week but I doubt she will understand why. I miss the old 'her' so much.

My Christmas list is a small bottle of Jo Malone Orange Blossom and a juicer from my husband. Our children buy us delicious consumables!

Just my Husband Kevin's complete remission from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia - nothing else matters.

This last year has been a very mixed one for the family - two lovely weddings, my brother to the mother of his 3 youngest childre; and my daughter, after a dreadful 1st marriage, finding her Mr Right & marrying him; my mother's death and funeral; a lovely new baby boy in the family; and various health problems for loved ones. So, top of my Christmas wish list will be the time & opportunity to laugh, cry & enjoy one another over the Christmas break (& perhaps a satsuma).

For my dear GS to have a fantastic life despite his ASD.

Firstly, I wish health and happiness to all in these difficult times .
For myself, I would like all iPads, tablets and phones to be put away so that everyone gives and receives undivided attention....even for an hour!
I would also like to get my teenage grandchildren back into reading again. They were all such bookworms when younger,so winning these books would be a wonderful bonus.

I do not wish for any material things. Just health and happiness for the family and someone to wave a magic wand to give world peace and an end to the suffering of all people and animals, no matter what the cause.

My thoughts for gifts at Christmas. In this day and age we, in the Uk, generally have too much. Do I need another dress, hubby another tie, teenagers another techno item, children another toy. No. I thought it would be good to give to charity the amount I would spend on present and they could nominate which charity. Wouldn't we all feel better for it.

An end to the suffering of the people still in Syria, and all those trapped in war zones or refugee camps.

Health and happiness for my wonderful children and grandchildren.

And a Breville Brita Filter Hot Cup please.

My wish is for good health. I've just found out that DIL has been diagnosed with Stage 3 thyroid cancer. She's in her early 40s with 3 boys under 7 who do not need Mum to be going through a lot of pain and heartache. Fingers crossed

That all of my family are pleased with the gift that I've bought them.

A new purse as I've worn my old one out - yes I have had all the jokes about over spedning from hubby. Truth is I have had it for years and my daughter wanted to buy me a useful present, as I always buy her and her family a useful present!!

All I want is good health, no aches and pains. Some slippers and perfume, moisturiser. Would love the books for myself and as presents as my family loves reading books too. This is the best idea. I would like to have one of those smart phone..... May be a little holiday in the summer. I would like the company of my family and their good health. X

My Christmas will be perfect when we celebrate my mums 100th Birthday in a country house house hotel. Afternoon tea for 50 guests. So lucky to have her still.

Some Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Nail & Cuticle therapy. Had some for my birthday in April and it is about to run out. Really works, for the first time my gardeners fingernails are not flaking and breaking.

inishowen Mon 21-Nov-16 12:54:13

I just hope that my daughter's pregnancy progresses well. She's had five miscarriages, but this time all seems to be good.

to see nephew and niece carol concerts. on big day to watch them open presents and enjoy christmas through their eyes with loads of laughter, singing carols, playing. spend lots of time with nan (91) and both hers and my health improve as we both have not been well lately, watch old family favourit xmas films, look at photos and remember past christmas times with family (most now deceased). lots of quality time with hubby relaxing with our dog, watching films and listening to music while reading our new books. hopefully have gifts of books (nearly new/second hand but new to me), chocolate, wine to share. we always passbooks round family and friends after read so joy can be shared.
