Why do you travel? What drives you to venture far from home and see sights you've never seen before?

Collette have spent the last 100 years taking people all over the world, and along the way they've learned that travel isn’t about the places you go. It’s about you and your reasons for going.

And everyone has different reasons. They can be big - a promise to a loved one, fulfilling a lifetime goal. But they can also be small - the blue water in Capri or the cuisine in France.

The reason doesn’t have to be happy for the trip to be important and fulfilling. In fact, the most powerful reasons probably won’t be. But they will be personal, deep, meaningful and maybe even surprising.

As the longest-running tour operator in North America, Collette has provided guided travel for 100 years. With trips to all seven continents, Collette’s guests fulfil their deepest travel aspirations in a variety of ways with travel styles that are diversified to suit every traveller’s personal style.

So, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, tell us - what's your reason for travel?

I love travelling to different countries to experience different cultures, ways of life and to expand my knowledge. I like to get out and about in the country to really get a feel for it.

The reason I travel is to explore the weird and wonderful.

We love to see new places and meet new people in new cultures - and taste new foods and drinks. One of the joys of being older is that one can do this sort of thing!

I love travelling, seeing and meeting different people, seeing their cultures and tasting different types of food. Understanding their ways and exploring the differences between so many cultures and defined ways of living/existing in this world.

I think travel gives you a new dimension or outlook on life that you wouldn't have if you never travelled.

You can see and learn a lot about the world through modern media, but I travel because I want to experience it.

To make regular visits to Sydney Australia to visit our youngest son and our eldest daughter and their families that live there. Also gives us a great chance to have a short breaks on route in such places as Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Curiosity mostly! I lived overseas for part of my childhood so travel has always felt 'normal' in lots of ways.. unaccompanied minor travel gives you a bit of confidence! I love to see famous sights as well as exploring 'off the tourist trail' corners of anywhere including UK. So many interesting places, so little time!

kaiseroo16 Mon 17-Sept-18 20:21:06

We travel all the time for our son's hockey, that's Ice Hockey. Roller Hockey etc. It's tedious but we did have a brilliant trip to Corona in California for the Junior Hockey Olympics last year, I had a good trip to Lyon 2 months ago.

Truthfully it's because my husband wants to, don't get me wrong I always enjoy myself but I'm a bit of a home bird and could give or take it but my husband wants to see the world it makes him happy and that's all I want is for him to be happy, I know he'd do the same for me x

I love to travel and take my family with my grandchildren to broaden their minds. I think it is important to take children to places all over our country and also abroad.

24Bellfield Mon 17-Sept-18 21:32:08

I travel to see as many countries as I can and experience all the different cultures that people in these countries have - I didn't travel when I was younger as my mum and dad couldn't afford to take us on foreign travel so I love to see how the people in other countries live. My husband and I like to try all the different dishes in these countries and there are many more countries that we would like to see in coming years health permitting for both of us.

paulapantaloons Mon 17-Sept-18 22:23:26

I travel as I love to be away from home. As much as I love my home, I love the peace, the tranquility, no phone signal. Complete quiet to read a book, listening to waves, not having to be up for anyone or anything and spending quality time with the family xx

mphammersley Mon 17-Sept-18 22:55:43

The world is full of such wonderful places, I would just love to see as many as I can. From the buzz of a big city like New York to the quiet, relaxing island of Herm or the uniqueness of beautiful Venice. But I also love coming back home after my travels!
