The Ugly Duckling - I used to think I suppose there is hope for me yet

Twingo Thu 19-Sept-19 12:03:04

Little Red Riding Hood for me!

RAZZLEDAZZLE Thu 19-Sept-19 12:06:35

Rapunzel. I always wanted to have such long hair, and I did for a while, but the doctor told my Mum to have it cut short as it was taking all the goodness out of my body!

Winter18 Thu 19-Sept-19 12:06:41

Cinderellas my favourite, didn’t like the awful sisters, but was so pleased she got her prince in the end and it all ended happily for her, true fairy tale.

grandMattie Thu 19-Sept-19 12:08:23

The ugly duckling. Oh, how I hoped to turn out to be a swan!

Grannyjacq1 Thu 19-Sept-19 12:19:20

Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. I can still hear my father's voice reading it, with a different voice for each bear. And we still say 'who's been sitting in MY chair?'. My grandchildren love this too.(Anyone else remember - and enjoy - stories that would now be considered politically incorrect, such as Epaminondous I wonder?)

SueB20 Thu 19-Sept-19 12:19:28

The Ugly Duckling for me as well - used to love hearing the song on Uncle Mac's favourites on the radio

CaroleDH Thu 19-Sept-19 12:21:53

The Princess and the Pea was my favourite story when I was a child as I used to ask my Mum if it was real ?

Annefozzie Thu 19-Sept-19 12:33:33

Snow White. I loved the film and the animation here pretty Rosie apple face and the music. All so innocent

Jovis Thu 19-Sept-19 12:34:01

Peter Pan as I would have loved to fly (far, far away).

marpau Thu 19-Sept-19 12:48:22

The elves and the shoemaker I have always been a champion of the underdog. To this day I love to help where I can.

Disneyfan Thu 19-Sept-19 12:53:24

All the Beatrix Potter books and the Famous Five. Even now as an adult I'm inclined to pick one up to read. My children loved them too.

Valski Thu 19-Sept-19 12:53:57

The Boy Who Cried Wolf - such a powerful story with a message that resonated.

Dianeeheath Thu 19-Sept-19 13:10:53

Cinderella as she got her prince in the end!

Mindy5 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:20:24

The Water Babies - I loved Mrsdoasyouwouldbedoneby. The message was to treat everyone as you would like to be treated yourself, a very important lesson to learn.

marieingham Thu 19-Sept-19 13:27:57

The Hobbit

Hameringham Thu 19-Sept-19 13:33:52

It has to be Hazel and Gretel as we spen many hours playing in the woods building dens and hoping to see the Gingerbread House.

WharfedaleGran Thu 19-Sept-19 13:37:51

Always little Red Riding Hood! I really wanted a red cloak just like hers, and a little basket. Just the right amount of danger with the heroic woodcutter coming to the rescue and a happy ending in the little cottage in the woods.

nosyla Thu 19-Sept-19 13:39:04

Pinocchio was my favourite , because I loved the idea of the little boy coming to life .

bernie777 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:04

The elves and the shoemaker - a lovely tale with an emphasis on how to help without being too obvious

dencoy Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:29

I loved Peter Pan and even more so when I saw the film. A world where kids rule and magic - what more could you want.

mumagain Thu 19-Sept-19 13:43:50

My favourite was the little mermaid - it could make me laugh or cry in equal parts.

legray22 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:57:28

Peter Pan was my hero!

sheilads105 Thu 19-Sept-19 13:58:38

I always loved The Elves And The Shoemaker. The isea of little, magical creatures helping an old shoemaker in secret fired my imagination. It made me want to help adults when I was tiny.

elsboot Thu 19-Sept-19 14:18:19

The Three Billygoats as I loved pretending that there were trolls under any bridges that I went over!
