three - yes, why is is essential for medical staff to have them if they are no use?

I think you will find the masks worn by medical staff are different to and more effective than those sold to the general public

I see Thailand and South Korea are reported to have banned the export of face masks because of shortages at home. I would only wear one as a last resort but it seems there may not be one to wear.

A large You Gov poll had revealed that the UK is the most unconcerned country regarding the virus. Even more laid back than the US. I am pretty sure that this is not a good thing now. I don't think that we as a country are concerned enough.

The only face marks which work 100% are the big wrap around ones (see picture). The other types have limited protection but I doubt there will be any masks available anywhere now.

I think it's more important for healthcare professionals to have effective masks so I would rather they had them. Without anyone to care for the sick we will be in dire straits.

I'm never that impressed by YouGiv polls. I used to do them but got sick of my responses being funnelled down into what they seemed to want to find. Also they didn't seem to bother much with the demographics of the people completing the polls. There are financial rewards if one does enough polls.

It seems that wearing a mask is a good idea if you must go out when suffering with any respiratory infection - wearing one as an attempt at protection is a waste of time, according to 'experts' yesterday. Also, thinking about the figures being quoted, the 'total affected' is an accumulative one and many of those people must by now have recovered and gone back to work, and this will continue alongside the further numbers for those who are falling ill. That is rather obvious, but does offset the potential alarm for the spikes of infection. People are getting better too - it's easy to lose sight of that.

Bridgeit it all depends on the type of mask, we sell masks as part of our Health & Safety range, are finding it difficult to fulfill our regular customers orders, will not sell to any walk in customers.

I am guessing that it probably makes folks feel better protected if they are wearing something?

I definitely live in another world to some of you. What on earth is wrong in trying to prevent yourself dying if you don't need to or trying to prevent spreading an infection to others? If that's being a snowflake I would rather be that and take sensible precautions than joke about the Black Death.

i am wondering if some of the ridiculing/ dismissing/ minimising/ head-in-sand-ism is a kind of reflex emotional defence mechanism, in the face of extraordinary circumstances. it can all feel overwhelming.
that would explain why some are not amenable to reason.
