My DH is on the shielded list. Just wondering how many others there are on GN and how you are coping with staying in all the time.

Doodle Thu 23-Apr-20 14:05:12

Just popping in to say Marydoll and cherry hope you are ok.
cherry on the GM thread you said you were not well this morning. Sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better now and improve as the day goes on.
marydoll missing you and hoping you are alright.
Take care all x

lemongrove Thu 23-Apr-20 14:14:32

am being bullied by Callistemon for my lack of egg catching skills! grin so I shan't send any eggs to spare your way (so there! and you can't come to my birthday party now either.)

am glorying in my newly gotten gains ( loads of eggs) and am wondering what to bake, as I have a tiny bit of flour left ( can't get any from any supermarket delivery, where the hell is it all?)

Dreamkeeper Thu 23-Apr-20 14:31:57

Hello cell mates from a very warm and sunny Wales.

It would be nice to be sunbathing but at least the view is rather uplifting in sunshine!!
Trying to keep up the standards by dressing up daily, not exactly "Posh" but just as though I am going places! I think it does the morale good.

We are both the proud new owners of straw boaters ..........we are a couple of swells!!!

Spirits have been somewhat lifted by a phone `call from our Welsh Government about being "Sheilded"
Many of you I am sure are already in receipt of these food boxes, now it seems from next week so are we!
So no longer looking out for those Tesco slots!!

All I need to complete the day is some of your delightful chocolate Doodle, you stir it to perfection!!

Have a safe one cell mates.

dragonfly46 Thu 23-Apr-20 14:42:19

Good afternoon everyone.
Hope you are all well and chirpy.
I am exceptionally tired but that is probably listening out for the dog all night.

I don’t look particularly healthy as I have to stay out of the sun.
Had a telephone appointment with the doctor yesterday re my achy arm. She seems to think it is iPad strain!

Looking like we may be in lockdown for the rest of the year. I can’t think about that.

Love the idea of your straw boater panache, it is a pity you can’t wear it out!

Doodle Thu 23-Apr-20 15:00:54

lemon my DGD has flour but no eggs. Whatever you make, send it in here for tasting ?
dreamcatcher your new straw boaters sound nice. Hope you get the chance to wear them out soon.
dragonfly so you have iPaditus! I am trying not to think how long we will be in lockdown. The thought is too scary.

jussiegirl1116 Thu 23-Apr-20 15:16:15

I’m a US member and have been in lockdown since the beginning of March. I live in New Jersey which being so close to NY has become an epicenter. Haven’t seen sons or grandchildren either. Very frightening. We do do our own food and drug shopping(husband). Stores leave orders on sidewalk. Please stay safe. I would love to come back and visit.

Callistemon Thu 23-Apr-20 15:21:12

I'm not choosing you for my egg and spoon lacrosse match, that's for sure, lemongrove!

We have eggs! Kindly neighbour added them on to her online shop.

I may make a birthday cake because we're having a big party at the weekend for a family member.
Virtual party but I may make a real cake for her and eat it all myself

Callistemon Thu 23-Apr-20 15:30:52

Hello, jussiegirl, welcome

Stay safe. I hope you're managing to have virtual visits with your family, it's not the same but it's so good to be able to keep in touch that way.

Grammaretto Thu 23-Apr-20 15:47:20

Dreamcatcher we did get the letter and call to say we were eligible for the government box but haven't claimed it as yet. We may do in future if our delivery girls get tired of us.
Honestly it took 2 of them to carry our order from the shop.
We all had a cuppa in the garden, quite a few feet apart, and discussed the outside world and what's to happen. One of them had not realised we weren't getting a walk.

Welcome to our American visitor jussiegirl (I thought Trump had closed the gates so it's nice to see you here).

This thread is mostly for the shielded, imprisoned those who are not even allowed outside our gates . We get a wee bit jealous of you who can get out for walks and shopping!

A big birthday cake sounds good Callistemon. I hope we all get a slice.
I love that you dress up in a boater Panache
I have summer clothes on and now I am freezing.

Alishka Thu 23-Apr-20 15:51:36

Hiya jussiegirl - all my (small) family live in Chapel Hill, N.C. I BLESS the Internet! My g'daughter, who's 18, is just at the end of 'The affair of the Century'.
all together now ....ahhh...
We've all been there, haven't we?
So, we've been chatting - a lotsmile

Callistemon Thu 23-Apr-20 15:55:11

Everyone is welcome to a piece of virtual cake, Grammaretto.
However I may not post a picture of the real thing because my cake making skills are negligible grin

Mamissimo Thu 23-Apr-20 20:51:39

Severe tactical error last night when I started a thread....the warriors came over the hill and high jacked it for their own sport so I haven’t even opened the door of the cell today. I caught a glimpse of Maw in the melee before I ran to hide behind the curtains.

My biological medication unit has been moved to a private hospital in Winchester so Monday’s drive can include a glimpse of the sea if we take the motorway route....or the huge view from Cheesefoot Head on the other route. We have to make the most of this legitimate outing so my guess is we will do the circle.

Tomorrow is another day and I will do better! Can I please have a drop of brandy in my cocoa?

Doodle Thu 23-Apr-20 21:10:47

mammissimo you can certainly have some brandy or anything else you like in your cocoa. You are quite safe in here. I can always lock the cells ?

Grammaretto Thu 23-Apr-20 21:10:56

Mamissimo that was brave of you but then you put yourself in isolation. I hope you recovered.
The thought of a glimpse of the sea sounds almost as exciting as a sighting of a DGC.
I do wonder how it will be when we meet again. We talk everyday on whatsapp but even so.

Doodle Thu 23-Apr-20 21:11:29

Hello to our American friends. Hope you are keeping safe.

lemongrove Thu 23-Apr-20 21:59:19

Welcome to GN jussie ....or as I like to call it ‘a funny thing happened on the way to the forum’.
smile
New Jersey! Makes me think of The Sopranos, the Bada Bing and the New Jersey turnpike ( that’s my tiny sum of knowledge about NJ) perhaps you could tell us more about it?
There are a couple of US Gransnetters on the site, mainly we are British, but there are a scattering of grans in France and Italy and New Zealand and Australia too.

MawB Thu 23-Apr-20 23:25:34

I caught a glimpse of Maw in the melee before I ran to hide behind the curtains
Really Mamissimo which particular melee?
I hope I was(nt) .causing a rumpus?

BradfordLass73 Fri 24-Apr-20 03:21:56

Grammaretto No, it's not solved. For reasons I and the bank cannot explain, it's impossible to have my ATM card renewed online and posted out. I have to make a physical trip to the nearest branch (they closed our local branch years ago "to improve the quality of our service to you". Liars.

However, it's gloriously sunny here, the birds are singing and on Tuesday we move to the first stage of Covexit. smile YAY!

We'll still be isolated but Police won't be stopping drivers to ascertain their journey; my son will bring me essential supplies.

Normally, pretty much every New Zealander would be out at an ANZAC parade and service tomorrow, so I'm planning a virtual one online.

jussie My friend Jayne, currently living in Tudor City, NY is planning to retire to NJ in October. I took a virtual stroll around the retirement town where she hope to have a unit.

I've been taking many such strolls since isolation, it gives me a little freedom at least grin.

Here's an interesting place to walk around

jdga Fri 24-Apr-20 04:29:39

Hi everyone, like Jussiegirl, I also live in America, but I’m down in Georgia. waving hi
Since the beginning of March, I’ve been confined to home, & b/c it’s heavy pollen season, I can’t even escape into the garden! (I hope that doesn’t sound too much like whining, lol!)
My DD & family live in Devon (as I used to years ago) & it’s v hard being so far away!

LullyDully Fri 24-Apr-20 08:28:54

My brother has just received his letter to stay home. He and my sil had been going for walks in Derbyshire ,where they live, at 6.00 am. Now they are walking around the house and garden, up the stairs many times and reckon to do 3 miles.

Marydoll Fri 24-Apr-20 08:45:00

Morning all, just popping in to wish the newcomers a warm welcome.

Panache, I have just realised it is you posting. @Not very bright I'm delighted to see you, not that I'm delighted you are in lockdown.

I was very unwell yesterday and DH thought I had the dreaded virus, he was flapping like nothing on earth.
As I have not been in contact with anyone and have been incarcerated since 13th March, it was very unlikely. Anyway, I feel a bit better today, thank goodness. The last place I want to be is in hospital! sad

Dragonfly, I hope you and Dexter are feeling a bit better today.
Gramamretto, I shall come back and report on DH's haircut, that is unless he chickens out! grin.

Have the best day you can all.

Grammaretto Fri 24-Apr-20 09:36:30

Nice to see you back Marydoll. I hope you are better today.
Eagle eyed Gillybob observed that Nicola Sturgeon had some proper hairdressing scissors which is not the usual thing to have lying around.
I am glad I don't dye my hair and never have. Some small things to be grateful for.

I am glad that your DS will assist you Bradfordlass. Is it a case of computer says no? Can you keep trying until a sensible human helps?

We had a wonderful video from DGS explaining the 4 levels of lock-down being observed in NZ.
It ends with his sad realisation that you are still on level 4! He is 8 and is missing his pals. They are allowed to go to their gates for Anzac day.

Callistemon Fri 24-Apr-20 10:07:31

New Jersey makes me think of Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter extraordinaire, Jussiegirl

And, of course, jdga there are so many songs featuring Georgia that I'll be humming all day now. Welcome to GN.
We should be visiting family in Devon but that is now on hold.

Doodle Fri 24-Apr-20 11:23:04

Hello to jda and lullydully.
jda DH and I have allergies too but as we live in a flat we don’t have a garden. Sitting on our balcony seems to be helping keeping the sneezing down. Nice to hear from you.
lullydully your brother and SIL seem to have worked out a fantastic fitness regime.
Love your idea of Google trips bradfordlass might try that myself. Let us know how the exit plans work out.
Hello Marydoll nice to have you back with us. grammaretto your DGS seems to have it all sussed.
Morning callistemon enjoy your sing along ?
Hope cherry and the dreamcatchers are ok.
Have a good day all. Take care

Mamissimo Fri 24-Apr-20 11:49:16

I’m opening a flour shop on the east wing.......I ordered bread flour and pasta flour and dear old Sainsbugs has just delivered 6kg of ordinary plain flour ?
You can’t return anything at the moment so if anyone’s in my area I can trade! ......what have you got?
