Over 30 NHS staff. I don't understand why we are not more outraged, how did we become so accepting if this extraordinary figure? We seemed to learn nothing from Italy. Now several sources are saying the UK may have the highest death rate in Europe. Worried? We should be.
Its a disgrace and the number is higher because its only the people who died in hospital that counted. This government has been a disgrace in how its handled it., they should have tested , closed borders and been prepared. And don't get me started on Boris in intensive care and one week later home.
WWMk2 many thanks for that link. It is quite terrifying and absolutely shameful that HMG didn't act decisively at least a month earlier. We are paying for it now.
If nothing else, it surely must show even to his most ardent admirers that the PM's gung ho approach was fatally flawed at the outset. It makes a sham of these daily press briefings.
I dread to imagine what the eventual outcome will be.
I think that the next worrying step is how they decide to get out of lockdown.
The cabinet is champing at the bit (?) to get the economy up and running again. But the worry is that they will be as careless coming out of lockdown as going into it.
We do need parliament to examine what they intend to do and feed information into government about what is happening in their constituencies.
We need to be able to examine the scientific evidence for any decision they make.
I don’t know about you but I’m not willing to sacrifice more death and suffering in order to satisfy the economic god.
It appears to me that the government seems to be very selective about only following scientific evidence which accords with their decisions, if past recent history is a guide. If they were more transparent and open to scrutiny about their it would help us to be less cynical and possibly more supportive in this difficult time.
