Will you be wearing a mask?

When we are eventually allowed outside will you be wearing a mask? Some countries have made it mandatory but the WHO were saying the other day that it dosn’t necessarily protect you. If you were infectious but didn’t know it might stop you infecting others if you coughed on them. But would it make you feel safer by wearing one and what sort would you wear?
I think I might, I just don’t know.

Listening to Radio 4 this week and the American modellers who predicted 65000 UK deaths early on when such a figure was unimaginable are now saying an additional 20000 deaths if mask wearing is avoided in England. Why the wait, when the evidence is there for all to hear and had been from day 1

I was actually shocked yesterday to drive the length of our nearest little town on my way to the hairdressers, a few miles further on, to see not a single person wearing a mask all the way along the High Street which was reasonably busy - and presumably people were going in and out of the shops.
Here in the village I don’t see any as anybody out and about is usually just walking their dog.
The government haven’t helped matters by putting out mixed messages which cynically I put down to the shortage of PPE in the early weeks and not wanting the general public to hoard any masks available.
“Following the science” ?
Right.

I do carry a mask to put on in shops, but not when I am in the open air in the High Street, so difficult to judge by looking at people there.

Of course you may be right, but surely taking off/putting on a mask repeatedly involves touching the face and negates some of the hygiene advantage?

Yes 100%.

I did look at your reference Summerlove. It did say some information may be out of date?
Rather then dwelling on the word 'poisoning' which I didn't myself use, it states what overexposure to CO2 can cause in the Fact Sheet further down.

MOST CENSORED VIDEO EVER!! I tested several masks on my 11 year old son using a CO2 monitor and Its been deleted every time I post it. If you want to SEE THE VIDEO THEY DONT WANT YOU TO SEE, I’ve posted it here
twitter.com/…/128155734129337… »

'The HighWire' host Del Bigtree and son, Ever, conducted a test, using an OSHA-approved Carbon-Dioxide meter, which revealed something about masks which YouTube, Facebook, and other video platforms are trying very hard to censor.

CARBON DIOXIDE EXPOSURE EFFECTS – FACT SHEET
Symptoms of overexposure by inhalation include dizziness, headache, nausea, rapid breathing, shortness of
breath, deeper breathing, increased heart rate (tachycardia), eye and extremity twitching, cardiac
arrhythmia, memory disturbances, lack of concentration, visual and hearing disturbances (including
photophobia, blurred vision, transient blindness, hearing loss and ringing in the ears), sweating, restlessness,
vomiting, shaking, confusion, flushed skin, panic, parathesis (a sensation of numbness in the extremities),
disorientation, convulsions, unconsciousness, coma, and death.

I’ve read your info, and continue to look up more information online. I cannot find in any reputable journal or non-sensationalist “viral posts” about CO2 poisoning being an actual problem. I implore you to do some more research.

I just don't understand the mentality of people who won't wear masks. Do they really think there's something special about them?

Me either. It’s not for long periods.

I don`t wear one, will not wear one. I will have a paper one in my pocket if the supermarket requires it but will only put it over my mouth. Breathing into a mask is akin to breathing into a paper bag to ameliorate panic and anxiety attacks. Increased CO2 in blood causes acidosis, this stimulates faster breathing and raises blood pressures, heart rate increases, the kidneys and heart work in tandem, the kidneys have to work harder

I am certainly not the anxious type and don`t need a cuddly blanket

Lucca Sun 12-Jul-20 07:46:35

Can’t believe people unwilling to wear a mask. Arrogance.

vegansrock Sun 12-Jul-20 07:47:12

Gosh those medics must be dropping like flies.

MerylStreep Sun 12-Jul-20 07:57:37

I have to wear one for my B12 injection and that's it. If I'm told I have to wear one to shop then I will buy online.
I went to the opticians this week. 2 customers not wearing masks. 4 assistants, 1 wearing a mask.

No mask no public transport, no mask no shops, no mask no indoor public places, and marshals to implement this!

Not in this country! Talking to friends who experienced lockdown in Spain .....what we had was NOT. Lockdown !

GagaJo Sun 12-Jul-20 09:27:05

Sheer selfishness not to wear one. Putting own needs above others. No community mindedness at all.

Incidentally, I wonder if there is any link between political affiliation and mask wearing?

Eloethan Sun 12-Jul-20 09:29:47

Not unless I'm forced to. I don't know if it's the shape of my face/ears but they keep coming off and I'm sure continually messing about with them is worse than not wearing them at all.

Smileless2012 Sun 12-Jul-20 09:38:52

I'm very concerned about this. I don't wear a mask, not because I'm arrogant or selfish but because I'm claustrophobic and I've tried but they make me panic almost immediately.

MayBee70 Sun 12-Jul-20 10:22:41

But the whole point of breathing into a paper bag is to breath the same air in and out. That doesn’t happen if you wear a mask. I don’t understand the comparison. As for anxiety etc I suffer from panic attacks but don’t have a problem with wearing a mask. My panic attacks happen if I’m in an enclosed area from which there’s no escape so the thought of being on oxygen or on a ventilator is enough to persuade me to wear a mask.

BlueSky Sun 12-Jul-20 10:28:15

There would be exemptions for people with medical conditions, but at least let's get the majority of the population wearing them!

Iam64 Sun 12-Jul-20 10:47:12

Smileless a young family member was shielding, now back at work. Her organisation gave her a plastic visor face shield, as she felt panicky in a face mask. My hairdresser, chiropodist and massage places have all opened with staff wearing visors

Hondaboy Sun 12-Jul-20 14:31:57

Greetings Summerlove...I reefer you to three papers for you edification on the dangers of wearing masks
1. Effectiveness of N95 respirators versus surgical masks against Influenza. A systematic review and meta analysis. Younlin Long, et al.
Before you reply the Covid 19 was downgraded to the equivalent status of a 'Flu bug' in March 2020 by our Government and the WHO...
So why LOCKDOWN !!
2. Preliminary Report on Surgical Mask Induced Deoxygenation During Major Surgery. A Beder el al.
3. SNI, Immunoexcitatory mechanisms in glioma proliferation, in invasion and occasional metastasis. Russell L Blaylock.
All highlighting the consequences of wearing masks.

Might be easier by watching a few videos.....!

MayBee70 Sun 12-Jul-20 14:34:39

So, is it still downgraded Hondaboy?

SueDonim Sun 12-Jul-20 14:40:23

Goodness knows how my medic DD is wearing a mask for up to 13 hours a day, if it results in CO2 poisoning. hmm

I also wonder how people who do not want to wear a mask would feel about wearing one to save their life in an ICU. Would they also refuse that?

Parsley3 Sun 12-Jul-20 14:45:43

Gosh, does my poor dentist know about the dangers of mask wearing? Acidosis must be rife in the medical profession. If this is true then an alternative must be found immediately.
