Hypocritical neighbours

My next door neighbours have had a continuous flow of guests today. I think it was somebody’s birthday. They’ve been in the garden drinking etc. Also they went outside to collect a gift from somebody and hugged them just about the time of clapping for the NHS. They had the audacity to join in with the clapping. Am I being a Grinch by being angry w it’s this hypocritical gesture?

Yesterday everyone in my daughters close, including two nurses, and one Mum of a new young Nurse (only qualified a year ago) had all the families out the front (right outside my door pretty much, two steps out of my house and I would have been in their midst) all singing, getting drunk, sat apart at first, then as the evening wore on, inhibitions fled, and they were all sat arms round one another, while my daughter and her husband and children all tried to watch their film and play their games.
The smoke from the BBQ that was right out side their house filled the house so my grandaughter was coughing all night which isn't the best thing atm, and my daughter just felt like sobbing.
Her older children are still working so hard, they would love to be able to meet up with friends and have fun, however, they want to keep people safe and the NHS from getting snowed under again.
And as my daughter expected, the taste of freedom was so enjoyable to those neighbours last night, that they are back there today, sunning themselves right outside her house, all loud, laughing, enjoying this like its a holiday...I predict a huge surge / spike in deaths in a couple of weeks, where they will blame everyone but themselves.
Selfish.
They have been reported, but thanks to the 20,000 police cuts the Tories so kindly made, we won't see a darned thing happen to them. :-(
I long to be governed by someone who can be clear, concise, and actually sort out a proper lockdown.

All I can say is I’m glad I don’t live next door to a lot of you ladies and/gents. Of course it’s spying and it is hypocritical.
“Behaving in a way that suggests one has higher standards or more noble belief”. Also sanctimonious and self-righteous.

Flakesdayout Sat 09-May-20 13:02:07

I cant say any more just that I am angry at the blatant disregard for what the majority of us are doing.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 13:02:46

Likewise. flowers

moggie57 Sat 09-May-20 13:04:25

you can report them
i would ...

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 13:06:12

I'm happy to have a moan on here.

3nanny6 Sat 09-May-20 13:10:04

We are all spying and hypocritical are we Rosalyn69 ? We all think we have higher standards and we are sanctimonious and self righteous that is a good post to put out.

Your post says it all you have not put up with idiot neighbours so you must have a nice big house with spacious grounds where you have not been bothered with others that are less than considerate of people.
The bloody lockdown was put in place for a reason and some of us have not seen family or grand-children for weeks on end because we have stuck to the rules. So take your sanctimonious and self righteousness and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

Sweetness1 Sat 09-May-20 13:12:37

Rosalyn 69 ..agree ..seems like mass hysteria..spying and snitching..

3nanny6 Sat 09-May-20 13:16:24

BAA BAA BAA is it really spy snitch mass hysteria what a load of bull---- !!!!!!!!!!!!!! people get a life.

May7 Sat 09-May-20 13:27:42

Rosalyn69 did you even read MaggieMays post which was just above yours? Perhaps you should have done so before you accuse people of being hypocritical.

SunnySusie Sat 09-May-20 13:31:42

ALANaV you have stated my view almost exactly "PLEASE live and let live. This mass hysteria has to stop ….think how you would feel if your neighbour 'grassed' on you ….I hate this spying on people." We mustnt let Covid turn us into a nation of spies and informers, if we do we have all lost something very precious.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 13:35:54

I'm neither a spy nor an informer.

I am, however, a moaner, so moan I shall.

lemsip Sat 09-May-20 13:40:43

everybody fuming! willing to bet that most of those fuming will say 'hallo' and talk to the neighbours they are fuming about! too faced or not! come on lets have the the fume!

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 13:52:41

Just as people who moan about their family members on here still talk to them.

Here is a place to vent, without causing damage to anyone.

travelsafar Sat 09-May-20 13:54:51

We have the same issue here too. So many people not following the 'rules' sad

Xrgran Sat 09-May-20 14:07:22

Happy to be. Busybody ?

Theoddbird Sat 09-May-20 14:19:20

After reading through this I am glad I live in an isolated place. I don't understand why people do not say anything to them. Why don't they report?

Tweedle24 Sat 09-May-20 14:20:30

I think “Live and let live” is not very appropriate in the current situation. Maybe “Die because others continue to live normally” might be more relevant.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 14:31:08

Why don't I report?
Because I'm not a snitch, neither am I outraged.

I'm disappointed.

lizkaz1 Sat 09-May-20 14:46:21

They are stupid. My mom and dad were self isolating and both caught COVID, from where we don’t know. My mom recovered, my dad died last Sunday. We were allowed ppe to sit with him. Watching dad struggle to breath and in pain was horrible. Just keep yourself safe and your own family. If they catch it or take it to elderly relatives they will have to live with it.

Esspee Sat 09-May-20 15:06:45

While I don’t approve of the behaviour of some of my neighbours I refuse to be sanctimonious about it.
This lockdown is certainly bringing out the worst in many.

Harris27 Sat 09-May-20 15:11:28

Let’s hope it’s not for much longer. It’s getting to everyone isn’t it.?

Harris27 Sat 09-May-20 15:12:13

I agree miss adventure.

MissAdventure Sat 09-May-20 15:12:29

It most certainly is, espee smile

ineedamum Sat 09-May-20 15:17:28

Lizkazl, I'm sorry to hear that.
