Mrneduc Cummings child is not autistic that was started on one of the social media platforms. It was false.
Adverts that are being shown on the tele
My very law abiding neighbours seem to have changed since the Cummings interview.
One couple headed off to their second home the day after and I have noticed that others are no longer observing the 2 metre advice.
This is a very small community and I am wondering if others are not complying now with the rules.
If this is happening across the country then it is very worrying. I know many people are angry and feel betrayed.

I'm with you Lexisgranny. I can't understand how people think it's ok to risk their loved ones health by breaking the rules because Cummings did. So can I break the rules now because they did? Idiotic thinking! I think they would have broken the rules anyway, but now they think they have a good excuse - which they haven't!
I thinks it’s brilliant jishere???
It is indeed first real laugh I've had today Whitewavemark2??
There Is another good one I’ve put on separately called an anthem to the baby boomers (culture and art thread???)
I look at this another way - if I had covid symptoms and my husband was isolating with me to care for me, I would want my 4 year old child to be as safe as possible with family who I knew were safe and who my child would feel safe and happy with 24/7 for as long as necessary. If that meant a long car journey (not many families live close these days) my husband driving and me as passenger as I am too ill to be left alone, then so be it. Whatever Cummings political position I defy any parent to do otherwise and any Grandparent to risk both mother and father of their grandchild being hospitalised leaving a 4 year old child lonely, scared and vulnerable. We all need to let this go and move on. Defying medical advice is just cutting your nose off the spite your face!
I think this is more about loss of faith in government now.
I have stayed at home just one walk a day for the last 2 months and I am concerned that Covid will just go on and on and I will never feel safe to go out, thanks to those who do whatever they want. DC has made things worse.
I know most of us will just plod on doing the right thing for the sake of our own health and others but it seems to me that there will be a significant number who wont.
Just off out for a 30 mile drive to test my eyesight
mrneduc Is there any evidence the child is severely autistic? I could be wrong, but I thought that was yet another lie.
If you had driven 260 miles for childcare for a child, when there were quite clearly alternatives, and would have been totally against the rules as they were at the time, I would have had absolutely no sympathy for you either.
Ah c'mon...he wanted to visit the bluebell woods.Sounds reasonable enough to me
There is no autistic child, I am willing to bet. If there was, they would have traded on it shamelessly.
One of the things I hate most about this affair is the way they think we'll believe any old tat. "I know, I'll tell them I drove to Barnard Castle and back to test my eyesight. The peasants will fall for it."
Don't forget that this is the man who said that rich people were superior to the poor because they had better genes and therefore better brains. (Listen to Donald Trump talk for 5 minutes and you'll find that theory disproved.)
I can't believe people are still going on about this! Jayne67, I completely agree with you, when your young, and possibly only child, is your main concern I would have done exactly the same thing.
I live in a fairly affluent area but no matter what, it doesn't mean that you have any common sense. My neighbours wife and daughter had the infection but he still went shopping, probably spreading the infection all over the place. Others have had regular get togethers from the start. At least Cummings kept away from others. For goodness sake, stop, now. The BBC can't let go, they just want to stop Brexit!
AGAA4 Good job you're anonymous or I might just give the police a little ring
.
Seriously … I have to have six monthly eye tests for diabetic retinopathy. They put drops in my eyes which can sting and the appointment letter always tells me that I must not drive under any circumstances. I would be committing an offence if I did - and that's precisely what Cummings was doing - no ifs or buts, excuses or mitigating circumstances. He broke the law.
So you would have broken the law too Maggieanne. Absolutely no sympathy.
If you couldn't see that was a joke Growstuff not much hope really.
Sorry Growstuff maybe you were joking too? I am a bit touchy today. Lockdown blues.
What a load of cobblers! But it seems to be becoming widespread. This is nothing to do with Brexit, despite what the nutjob trolls are claiming.
This is about a couple who quite clearly broke the rules, including committing at least one actual offence, who have got away with it. It is especially important because one of those people had a hand in writing the rules, which have affected so many people.
No, it must not be allowed to be dropped.
Of course I was joking AGAA4. Sorry!
I'm just pi$$ed off with the number of people who admit that they would have broken the rules too (and maybe have), who seem to think that somehow they're different and are justifying what Cummings did.
PS. I knew you were joking.
Those who say they would have driven hundreds of miles to family if they were ill would most likely have been fined as many were.
I don’t think it matters one jot whether or not his child is autistic, he just acted in what he felt was the best option for his family.
I suspect a large number of people would have done exactly the same thing in his circumstances, but of course not everyone is honest enough to admit it.
It is so much easier to join the herd condemning him for breaking the rules, even though it quite clearly states that there is flexibility with regard to childcare.
So many people hate Cummings and are delighted to be outraged by this.
Surely we ladies of a certain age are used to obeying rules, so why should we follow a complete idiot and his actions, and end up being no better than DC.
We are stronger and can resist the temptation for another few weeks I am sure. Stay strong ladies.
Joe soap I’m only listening to people like Kings College Hospital and the information they put out as well as other independent scientists untouched by the government.
I don’t think that we can believe anything the government says. They are proven liars.
I shall make my own mind up when to go out.
I haven’t done so yet because of lack of loos but I will be going out ASAP for isolated picnics and walks - that’s the first thing I’m allowing myself.
I am sticking to the rules inspite of seeing on a daily basis people socialising with others not even from one household. Even before the new phase this was going on. VE day I saw people having tables out on front gardens with others sitting albeit at what was supposed to be 2 mtr distancing. The latest relaxation and the behaviour of DC has just given credence to the "I'll do what I want" brigade.
I'm certainly not feeling angry or betrayed AGAA4. If I didn't have a sneaking suspicion
the press furore has more to do with DC being pro-Brexit, than him driving to Durham, I might pay more attention. I am eagerly waiting for the BBC to be pay-for-view so we don't have to have their view on the news, rather than the actual, factual news! Oh wait, DC is for that too isn't he?
If you know differently, I apologise but your neighbours may not have seen the DC interview, although I have to admit it would be difficult to avoid. Police have found that he did nothing wrong which is good enough for me. Not that I would copy him anyway, I am an adult and able to make my own mind up. I might put the welfare of my child first, I have to admit, and many of us turn to family in the first instance. Hopefully the people you have told us about are feeling more positive about the situation we're in with decreasing rate of transmission/deaths. It shouldn't make them lose all common sense, especially as we've waited so long, but it is very good news.
You have to look at the big picture take off the blinkers an put one's self in the same situation
