Hetty58. If your post is in reference to the post I wrote, then I will say I am neither ignorant off mental health or unaware on its effect on people, especially those suffering from domestic abuse. FoghornLeghorn, yes, of course lockdown has to be lifted. We are not 'all in the same boat' however. A lot of us are retired and have the luxury of the choice to continue our isolation.

Yes, and I’m one of them so at higher risk because of my age. It doesn’t change my opinion and I won’t be self-isolating for any longer than I have to. I will take sensible precautions but refuse to live the rest of my life like a hermit.

Well said grow stuff. The lockdown has be eased far to quickly, it has taken how long in lockdown, 10 weeks or so to get the famous R rate just below 1 so we are returning to near back to normal with no room for mistakes. The R rate should be 0.5 or below before its eased, but the good old Boris doesn't think so, he knows best, I am afraid it won't end well and its scary to think that our ives in the hands of such an idiot.. Money is no good to you if you are dead.

No Pantglas2 but they are easing it much more cautiously, Wales has said schools will go back when the time is right and still has a pretty tight restriction on movement, this is the way England should have gone. But of course Boris is hoping to deflect Cummings lies.

No, our restrictions in Wales are actually quite lax in some respects - no face masks recommended, meeting any number of folks from another household etc.

Not sure about Scottish and Irish details but they’re nowhere near .5 either and they’re lifting things willy-nilly, just like the Tories! A week or so here or there isn’t a great reason to call one an idiot and t’others saints!

The Government realises that you can only keep the healthy majority of the country on Lockdown for so long, that is why they did not want to start it too early.. Doing it for the NHS was a brilliant move but people are getting restless. If you do not lift it people will take it into their own hands to do what they want, Lifting Lockdown with rules is timely. Unfortunately I shall still be self isolating but I do get to see my grandchildren, in the garden.

Why is so much of the discussion centred on restrictions when the real issue should be protections?

Easing it??? Has become a rush and now a storm of getting rid of lockdown. ANother week and we will say Lockdown? What Lockdown???

As individuals, we each have a responsibility for deciding what is appropriate for keeping ourselves and others safe. Just because we can doesn't mean we must.

A lot of the masks on sale or homemade ones are virtually useless. I think for many of us it is still easing and not getting rid of the lockdown. My company still won’t allow everyone back as they cannot distance to work. People are in very small groups doing sport. There are still screens in the shops and markers where you queue apart. Always there will be those who ignore but they ignored from the start. It really must depend where you live. Our sit-down restaurants have opened but only offer collection or delivery. Brasserie Blanc talked of this and yum, what a change from lots of the other, often greasy stodge that can be available.

Whitewavemark2 I agree that in some aspects Government has been slow to act, but certainly some members of the public are responsible for the spread of further infections.

Just locally I have seen a family that has had a houseful of guests to stay over both bank holidays, and several others have clearly had visitors throughout lockdown, judging by all the extra cars.

When shopping, some people are not attempting any social distancing, some don’t even use the sanitiser.

EllenVannin and PGAgirl are right. If everyone followed the rules it would be a big help.

I didn’t say she had. I was saying that with so many stories on various threads about neighbours/general public not following guidelines, there are sections of the public who may well be to blame for the continued spread of the virus.
