Great news from BJ this afternoon for people living alone - they can join another household, stay overnight, no need for social distancing, Unless they’re shielding - maybe some news for those people next week.
Can’t help wondering, though..... I can visit one person in his or her house. But I can’t visit my completely empty holiday home.
BJ did say there were still plenty of ‘anomalies’. Too right.

He's just trying to prevent you from being lonely, Kate54 grin.

Seriously though, yes there are still many anomalies.

I don't see it going down very well with grandparents who are part of a couple still not being to have close contact with their grandchildren, while a single grandparent can potentially go and help with childcare and even sleep over!

MissAdventure Wed 10-Jun-20 18:34:32

I'm so lonely I haven't even got anyone to bubble with.

Chewbacca Wed 10-Jun-20 18:35:21

I'm really excited about this! Can't wait to get my hands on the GC! grin

MissAdventure Wed 10-Jun-20 18:35:43

I understood it to mean two families can merge?

MamaCaz Wed 10-Jun-20 18:39:38

As far as I can work out, one 'half' of the bubble must be a single person or a single parent. Please correct me if I am wrong.

MamaCaz Wed 10-Jun-20 18:40:29

And it doesn't apply to those who are shielded, of course.

I'm so lonely I haven't even got anyone to bubble with.

That's so sad sad

Kate1949 Wed 10-Jun-20 18:42:50

Yes that's what he said MamaCaz one person, not a couple.

Hetty58 Wed 10-Jun-20 18:44:17

It's a trap, clearly. Parents wanted back at work, schools unable to look after the kids - suddenly, there's concern for 'lonely' people. So (like lambs to the slaughter) it's grannies to the rescue. They really must believe that we're all fools!

MissAdventure Wed 10-Jun-20 18:47:23

I've obviously got the wrong end of the stick, and I was really concentrating, too. blush

Clean britches and toothbrush packed. I’m ready to go ??

GardenerGran Wed 10-Jun-20 18:47:46

We understood from Prof Whitty that both halves of the bubble had to be from a single Adult household. The BBC seem to be saying something different...confused..

J52 Wed 10-Jun-20 18:47:57

I am pleased that lonely people can meet with one other person or household. It does not affect me, but I really feel for those who have coped with a very lonely situation.
However, as Chris Whitty explained this evening we are not at the end of the pandemic, but in the middle of it. The Science would indicate that we could see a rise in cases as we go into the Autumn.
I am strictly abiding by the guidelines, DH and I seem to have had the virus, but there is no evidence that we could not be reinfected or infect someone else. That someone else could be a dear relative or friend.

MawB Wed 10-Jun-20 18:48:39

Got it in one Hetty !

MamaCaz Wed 10-Jun-20 18:49:35

I can imagine the upset this will cause.
For example, a family with children, and two single grandmothers both eager to be on the 'bubble' with that family.
One way or another, there are going to be tears.

MissAdventure Wed 10-Jun-20 18:59:57

Oh well, at least I avoid that kind of upset. smile

Hetty58 Wed 10-Jun-20 19:02:29

MamaCaz, I was thinking of the disappointment and upset caused when a grandmother refuses to visit!

MamaCaz Wed 10-Jun-20 19:15:22

That too, Hetty.

Lucca Wed 10-Jun-20 19:16:19

So once again it’s all as clear as mud. If I go into my Ds and Dgc bubble my ex husband can’t ? Or their kids then can’t go into their friends house ?

growstuff Wed 10-Jun-20 19:20:03

I think I'll have to join a dating site. My headline could be "looking for the other half of my bubble" (or something) grin

Kate54 Wed 10-Jun-20 19:26:07

Correct, Lucca at least not at the same time as you. There’ll be rotas being drawn up all over the country.
My son sent this text earlier: ‘So I can go and see a giraffe but I can’t see you!’

Kate54 Wed 10-Jun-20 19:28:25

Or divorce papers - now there’s an idea.

Shelmiss Wed 10-Jun-20 19:29:52

So I just asked my mum who she would like to see as her bubble partner, me or one of my two sisters (we all have families).

I’ll have a think about it and let you know next week was her answer! grin

Kate1949 Wed 10-Jun-20 19:32:08

It's very confusing. I thought he said the bubble had to be one person on their own who wasn't shielding, can mix with one other household only. Not mix and match with whichever household they fancy on the day. Is that right?
