...who actually have, or had, Covid19? Not just people who say they’re ‘ sure they had it’, but definite cases. I only know of two, one who contracted it in hospital following admission for a broken hip, and another who died in a care home.
Please try not to drift ‘ off topic’, as I’m really interested to hear your answers to the question.
A couple in the next village (Cornwall) caught it visiting friends 'up country'. Not tested but had all the symptoms. My niece and partner had it. She is a social worker and probably caught it at work. Not tested but had clear symptoms. A man we know in nearby town has recovered after a hospital stay and a friend who was in France is sure she had it only symptom was loss of smell/taste. She is back and grumbling as she has to isolate for fourteen days.
Four people. I live in north west. Two died but one was over 80 and had medical problems but the other was about 60. Of the two who lived one is a young mother Who is a doctor, who works in a Liverpool hospital And the other a doctor at an orthopaedic hospital
I don't know anyone personally but on the Isle of Anglesey a chicken processing plant has just confirmed that as of yesterday 158 workers of 400 tested were covid19 positive. The first few cases a few weeks ago were not reported and this has run out of control. The workers live in all corners of the island and beyond, now apparently cases in Holyhead and Valley. Two of my sons who work locally have told me that there are cases in their respective workplaces. Scary times.
5 People, a doctor who gave it to his wife, a neighbour who is a nurse but didn’t adhere to lockdown rules and a friend whose daughter came home from university with it and shared!
My daughter, her husband, their toddler and six week old baby right at the start of lockdown- probably brought home by my SIL. SIL still has no sense of smell and daughter’s is intermittent.
I’m sorry for your loss, Hf59. My mother’s cousin who died was also in S Wales. His story sounds v similar to yours. He developed a ‘cold’ on the Monday, muddled through until Thursday afternoon when his breathing suddenly deteriorated. An ambulance was called, he was taken to hospital and they were then contacted in the early hours of Friday to say his condition had worsened. He died shortly afterwards.
My friend's two aunties died with it recently. Both on the same day and in their nineties. One with symptoms, one not. When life gets back to some kind of normality and we can mingle again we will more than likely hear of people we know that have had it.
DD1, who is an occupational therapist in a hospital and DH who is in a nursing home. DD recovered, and DH too, though it has left him weaker than he was before. I don't know the actual number, but some of the other nursing home residents and a number of the staff also had it, and there were deaths among the residents.
None that I know personally here in Portugal although we had a circular from the village junta to say that one lady in the village had been confirmed as having it so she and her husband were quarentined at home. My friend here has a granddaughter in England who works in a care home and she was confirmed to have it a few weeks ago. Other members of the family were tested but all were negative. Here in our council area which covers a large area there have been 96 cases confirmed since the beginning but only 8 people currently have it. Portugal has done more testing per capita than most other countries. Because I am attending hospital I haven been tested twice so far and both negative. So I am keeping well away from everywhere to keep it that way.
One friend in early 50's living in N. Italy who recovered; one nurse at a SW London hospital aged 34 who died; 2 of my friend's children, one a doctor in Sussex in his 30's and the other in her 20's working outside London, who have both recovered.
16 in total - Both of my daughters and their partners - one works in A and E. My ex husband and his wife. 5 friends from WI . 2 neighbours. All recovered ok. 3 elderly relatives in care homes all sadly passed away.
