Every Country has a right to control its borders obviously.

I just wonder why posters on GN are blaming the UK Government for the chaos these closures are causing?

Personally, I haven't blamed anybody. Why are people blaming Macron?

For that matter, why are some people always so keen to find somebody to blame?

Watch BBC news 24 now - angry lorry drivers with no access to water or toilets.

It must all be fake news (according to some hmm).

How do you know that toilet facilities are being provided? The media and tweets from the drivers themselves suggest they're not.

I do.

Yes.

They are angry at being held up and quite rightly.

But yes, facilities and food are available

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:10:34

They have just said they have no access to water or toilets. Earlier there were different lorry drivers saying the same. They are relieving themselves in the fields and by the side of the road.

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:10:54

They also said they have been given one cereal bar since yesterday

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:12:55

Maybe turn on news 24 & you can see various different drivers saying they have no access to food/water/toilets.

Very few articulated vehicle tractor units have fridges installed in their cabs if any. There is just a bunk behind the driver and passenger seats and that's it.

When the vehicles are in normal use they are usually parked up at a service area at the conclusion of the drivers regulated hours of driving and where the driver has toilet, wash and hot food facilities. They then just bunk down in the cab.

In the above, they can keep going comfortably several nights on the trot but not when they are parked on the side of a motorway with absolutely nothing by way of facilities.

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 20:15:11

Maybe speak to someone who is there?

Hello, how are you?
?

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:18:02

Callistemon - the lorry drivers being spoken to are there. Or are you suggesting they’re all making it up? There isn’t one place anyway. Drivers stuck on the motorway will be having a different experience than ones who have found a hotel room (as a German lorry driver who has found a hotel room pointed out).

Yes
Have they interviewed them all?

Open the border Macron.

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 20:21:28

I'm not arguing with those who know it all because they read the Guardian and watch someone being interviewed on ITV.

I will believe my own sources.

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:22:45

Are you saying it doesn’t matter if 1000 people are using fields as a toilet if 50 are in a hotel.

Here’s piece on it - www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/22/disgraceful-lorry-drivers-stuck-at-dover-tell-of-lack-of-facilities

Some of those quoted in that article were interviewed by the BBC - they keep being played on news 24 (amongst others)

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:23:22

I think to resolve the argument perhaps ^callistemon could tell us where we could see the evidence for ourselves that the truck drivers have lavatories, hot food, hot drinks etc.

I have seen nothing but quite the opposite, including tv presenters on the ground saying that.

Blimey - talk about ignoring evidence.

BBC has interviewed multiple drivers in multiple places. They must all be liars hmm

''Open the border Macron.''

so you don't think other nations are not right to try to stop the spread of a mutant virus that our Government has been fully aware of since September, and have done nothing about?

Sovereignty and putting your citizens first- no?

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 20:30:03

My source is not the news media.

We've been told so often on GN not to trust the MSM, but now it is Gospel

So where should we look for the evidence?

Callistemon Tue 22-Dec-20 20:31:30

You tell me - because you are one who constantly tells us not to believe the MSM.

I think when you see multiple people saying the same thing, standing on a road miles from nowhere with no facilities in sight the you have to work really hard to not believe them.
