I wonder what these distraught young women who are driven to drink at the thought of their mothers reading the Daily Mail think about those who repost the DM’s articles on social media?

Good point

We might be talking hard drugs

There you go. Why don't you contact the DM and tell them this awful situation where young well educated ? people are swigging it back because of their article.
I'm sure thousands would find it as hilarious as we do.

Blimey ????????????????????

I didn’t realise having a mother who read the daily mail was a reason for becoming an alcoholic - that’s a daily mail story in itself!

MawBe Sat 09-Jan-21 13:31:23

Best if I don't post some of the ones I've seen today who have been pretty damning and not mincing words about their DM reading mothers- some of them have had to take to drink

Frankly ridiculous - well actually beyond ridiculous!
Who has taken to drink? The young friends or the DM reading mothers? .
And to say they have had to take to drink
How on earth can anybody take this statement seriously. Nobody has to take to drink (if they did there might be an orderly queue on GN!)
Seriously alcoholism in the young is not something to joke about.

With respect Biba your young friends’ posts are of no consequence to me.
Does their youth automatically validate their comments-which according to you are extreme?
What are you doing reading and regurgitating their moans about their mothers?
I cannot believe this is not a wind-up!

Thank goodness my children are better brought up than your young friends.
They sound quite dreadful, biba!

I'm not even sure who's taken to drink - the young folk or their mothers.

It's going to be me turning to drink if I read any more of these insane posts from supposedly mature women with axes to grind

In my experience, the well brought up younger people in my world aren't remotely interested in any of this nonsense.

They're just getting on with living and doing their best to cope with adverse conditions due to this virus.

Are these young people who have turned to drink because their mothers read the DM ex students of yours?
They haven't exactly been prepared for the real world, have they.

Yes because sometimes poppyred you might be wrong and it's important to listen to others in order to work out what we think. Nobody is always right. It's very important to have the capacity to change your mind. I admire people greatly who do that and are able to say I was wrong.

biba70 Sat 09-Jan-21 12:56:28

Well, so many more young friends have posted about this since- and the OP is very very mild. Best if I don't post some of the ones I've seen today who have been pretty damning and not mincing words about their DM reading mothers- some of them have had to take to drink.

Ggravy 'Wanting to support UK businesses is not xenophobic or nationalist.' - yes, I agree, totally, and said so above. Just depends how it is done and the reasons and thinking behind. And those young friends posting today have no doubt and stated the reasons quite clearly.

Visgir1 Sat 09-Jan-21 12:54:26

Well if it has been published in the Daily Mail - it has to be true ! .....NOT!
I'm NHS staff ,the vaccination of all the staff is well under way. I'm getting mine on Monday.
Remember your local NHS / Primary sector is probably the biggest employer in you area? So...lot to do , plus getting these members of staff free to get their vaccines.
Regardless of which vaccine you get , you get protection, even if the second one is slightly delayed.

Poppyred Sat 09-Jan-21 12:53:30

Really? Life’s too short!

Iam64 Sat 09-Jan-21 12:52:24

Or just skim read and dismiss !

Galaxy Sat 09-Jan-21 12:48:58

I think that concept would be awful. It's very important to read and listen to people you disagree with.

Poppyred Sat 09-Jan-21 12:38:45

Kandinsky totally agree! ‘Hide poster option” would be bliss!

Chewbacca Sat 09-Jan-21 12:25:24

Well indeed GrannyGravy13, but then we wouldn't have sensationalist headlines that provoke a knee jerk response would we? ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 09-Jan-21 12:21:10

Taking the comments of 10 olde people as an example of the way 66 million of the general population think is quite ridiculous in my humble opinion!

GagaJo Sat 09-Jan-21 12:20:53

Poppyred, yes, I am inclined to vehemently disagree. But I hope I do not stoop to personal remarks.

Kandinsky Sat 09-Jan-21 12:19:59

GN needs to introduce a ‘hide poster’ option like most other forums have.
Problem solved.
