The coronavirus vaccine rollout

I don't know how to do links but the article is in The Independent online. Priti Patel said the queue jumping is 'morally reprehensible' and she hinted at fines.
It says people have been sharing links to websites on social media and people are booking when they are not eligible. They are not being asked for proof of eligibility.

I didn’t post to denigrate Scotland Alegrias1, we’re all in this together, and of course there are bound to be variations on a day to day basis depending on reporting methods, particularly where there are a lot of smaller vaccination centres in more rural areas.
The graph was a 10 day period with a lag, which should allow most glitches to be ironed out, so my concern was with the declining rate of vaccination, not with the percentage vaccinated. I’m sure there are explanations, do you know what they are - weather resulting in cancelled appointments, poor uptake of appointments, or whatever?
The UK is doing incredibly well I think, it’s just interesting to understand the detail of what’s going on (I am a saddo I know).

Casdon we posted only a few minutes apart and I noticed your post after I had posted mine. I'd be happy to discuss the details with you. I'm a nerd too ;-)

But there have been several posts complaining about how badly Scotland are doing, and comparing it with the English rollout, and I'm pretty fed up of it. Scotland are slower. I hope we can speed up a bit. But we've not ground to a halt and like you say, the more who get vaccinated the better.

Reasons for Scotland's number going down? Well I notice that England's has gone down as well, so maybe its a consequence of the supply being less this week that last. Wales were slower to begin with so maybe they had a bit of a stockpile that they were able to use up. Just my thoughts, I have no insider knowledge.

Let’s not get into a daft competition about which country is ahead by 1 or 2 percent in the vaccination programme. As I have already said, the people I know about have either been vaccinated or had an appointment letter. I can’t believe that those who are suggesting that nothing is happening in Scotland are unaware of this. Don’t let political bias stand in the way of reality.

After posting earlier my jab is booked for 7th February. Seems like Wales is getting its act together.

I’m almost 81 and I haven’t had the first dose yet. Not too pleased.

SueDonim whereabouts do your friends in England live that 50 and even 40 year olds are getting called? I only know of 70s and over and extremely clinically vulnerable people younger than that (I'm one!) being called for vaccination, unless they are carers or front line health professionals. When I got my jab eligibility was being thoroughly checked before you could register.

Me and my OH. 2 neighbours and 4 friends. Freinds have told me of people they know having the jab aged under 75.
No underlying issues with any of them.

A friend here in Manchester had AZ yesterday. She’s 58y and immunosuppressed. Delighted for her.

It’s great isn’t it when we actually hear of people we know getting immunised? I think about 20 people now that I personally know. Wonderful.

Nice to see the good old EU showing their true, bullyboy colours. They’ve messed up and now banned exports of the Pfizer vaccine. Even though we have a contract with Pfizer. Disgraceful. No wonder we left and I, for one, am pleased we did.

My mum managed to speak to her surgery today. They just said ‘You’ll get it, eventually.’ ?‍♀️

I’ve not heard of one person between 70-80yo who has yet had this blue-envelope-letter-that’s-white.

SueDonim They've been blooming lucky then, especially the London one where not even all over 75s are done yet. I don't know about the rest of the country but some of my NHS frontline family have only just received their jabs in the last few days. Are any of them in the special categories to jump the age priority? Hope your mum gets hers soon.

Only one has been CEV, in her 40’s. My mum’s 78yo friend in London has had both jabs as has her 96yo cousin in Hampshire.

Our GP surgery is currently vaccinating over 70s plus people who are CEV.

They have a note on their website to ask people to contact them if they are older and haven't yet had their first vaccination appointment, so long as they are registered with the practice.

We had texts today, within seconds of each other, from the surgery. It contained a link to a treatment centre wesbite at the small local hospital, 10 mins away.

A choice of times for next Thursday. All booked for 17:00.

Our surgery is vaccinating people in their 60s.

Couldn't agree more UG. A few days ago a friend put a post on Facebook saying how her mum and dad had had their jags, and about 20 other people commented with things like "mine too" or "they're having it next week!" That cheered me up a lot. We're getting there.

DH came in from a walk the other day smiling, a neighbour who we don’t see very often had stopped him and asked if his parents had been vaccinated yet.His parents ( had they been alive) would now be 116.
True, he was a late baby and isn’t grey as yet, but even so...?

That was convenient muse we had ours done three days apart, but the centre only a 20 min drive away.
