Yes Devorgilla you are right. I thought women in that age group would probably be on the pill or HRT, which in itself would increase the risk of clots.
Times article claim that Waspi women are tone deaf and should read the room
got my vaccine on thursday after much debate on whether to have it ...i now have plenty of side effects .aching joints /glands up high/so bad that i cant eat or swallow/twinges in my kidneys /one side of face is numb/shivers/chills/ and wait for it tinnitus./painful ear/tiredness /cough/sneezing/and hot flushes/heavy arm. . seems i got a lot of side effects . anyone else ?

I had the second dose of AZ last Thursday and for the two hottest days of the year, yesterday and today I have been shivering and felt very cold. I have succumbed and switched on the heating although T is 20C
If I sit down I could easily fall asleep and do not want to do much. My appetite has not been affected.
Hi Charleygirl5. Did you have any side effects after your first dose?

*Welshy*, please get that lymph node checked if you haven't already, could be caused by a multitude of other things, best to be on the safe side.
I had a reaction of the AZ, couldn't get warm whilst burning up, aching in both arms, but only lasted 24 hours. DH had the same one and nothing at all!
Hi B9exchange
Thank you for your message.
I had some bloods done with the practice nurse last week & mentioned it to her. She said to keep an eye on it.
I have read that it can take up to 6 weeks though. It will be 3 weeks this Saturday for me.
I felt I had a moderately bad reaction the day after the first AstraZenica vaccine. I had a headache and a 'not really with it' sensation, severe abdominal pain and was aching all over, even my finger joints were painful. The most alarming thing was the drop in my temperature- I was extremely cold and shivering. I put the electric blanket on and went to bed with my books and laptop for 2 days. Third day I woke up and all symptoms were gone. I completed the yellow form.
I was very nervous going for my second vaccine yesterday and about an hour after returning home, again experienced extreme cold for a couple of hours then - absolutely no symptoms! Today I have been for 3 walks (to keep my circulation going), cleaned all the garden furniture and got three lots of washing dry.
I do worry about the different reports of the effectiveness of the AstraZenica vaccine, but feel that I have at least some level of protection against Covid-19.
Welshy absolutely nothing- not even a sore arm the first time around.
Bluesky I hope you don't mind me updating you but I am in Canada where 20 million doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine has been purchsed. The roll-out programmes vary a little from province to province
eg Saskatchewan had a drive-thru in Regina for residents wanting the AZ aged 58 and above. Nova Scotia has offered its supply to those aged 60-64 and British Columbia has been administering the AZ to those aged 55-65.
DH and I both over 70 had the AZ jab. DH (who has numerous health problems) had absolutely no reaction at all. I had shivers, shakes and a headache for about 24 hours. Been fine since.
Sorry meant to say we had the Jabs about 5 weeks ago.
Denmark (I think) are saying that the needle should be aspirated (?) to make sure it isn’t going into a blood vessel. Someone posted a picture on Facebook of their arm after having the vaccination and it looked very low down and possibly not in the deltoid muscle. Given that many people are being trained up to give the vaccine I wonder if some are doing it incorrectly?
I had the AZ jab two weeks ago. the first 24 hrs I was fine then I had flu like symptoms over the 2nd evening but no headache. I felt ok the next day but a little more tired than usual, lacking in energy, so had a quiet day. Fine after that.
Thanks CocoPops. I think the jury is still out on this, I guess Canada and Germany are erring on the side of caution by giving younger people a different vaccine until more is known.

Yes, air going into a blood vessel could, in rare cases, cause an embolism, so that is an interesting point, MayBee.
The nurse did take a while searching for the correct place to inject when I had my 2nd dose but I still bled so she must have caught a blood vessel.
I had my second jab about 2 weeks ago, no side effects the first time, second time after about 4 days had the headache from Hell, never get headaches normally,
All this week have felt stiff and even my fingers feel stiff
Didn't associate it with the vaccine, but could be i guess,
Hopefully wont last, but had a painful shoulder before that,[ on the other side] so maybe just a bit of arthritis
Very interesting thread though
Still glad i had it though
I had my first jab mid January with no effects except a sore arm for a few hours I have had more discomfort when I have had my annual flu jab,I am having my 2nd jab tomorrow hopefully with no ill effects.
My DD had her 1st jab last week-end and she has been poorly ever since, razor sharp sore throat, headache, swollen arm which is very painful she works in IT so work has been difficult for her hopefully the symptoms subside during the next few days.
yes i already reported to the yellow card scheme.. i still cant swallow properly ...still got aching joints too.....i think people who have underlying health problems get a whole lot more after the vaccine.....i had pins and needles in the whole of my body for 4 hours . NHS111 said its not uncommon ..they also said the 2nd vaccine is stronger so you could get stronger side effects .
moggie my DH has more health problems than the average person of his age and takes numerous meds for blood pressure, blood cancer, asthma, tremor, etc etc. We both had the AZ on the same day with the same GP. He had no side effects at all. I only have mild asthma but I had bad shakes and shivers and a headache. Doesn’t seem to be any accounting for who it affects or how,
Message withdrawn at poster's request.
I had very fluey shivers and shakes about 12 hours after my first AZ jab, but they were gone by the morning.
Had 2nd jab 2 days ago, nothing.
Dh had nothing from either.
Due 2nd AZ jab today. Both dh and myself felt like we’d been run over by a bus for 1st one. Hope this is better.
I feel immensely sorry for those who have suffered nasty side-effects - you must feel you were damned if you didn't have the vaccine, and damned that you did. I hope everyone has since settled down and felt human again.
I merely want to say, in reassurance for those reading this and wavering about getting jabbed, that I, like many, many others, had no discernible side effects when given the first AZ jab more than two weeks ago. Not even a sore arm.
I am 72 and reasonably healthy, with occasional asthma and perpetually high BP, despite daily meds. Importantly, I was told to take Paracetamol an hour before my appointment. I have no idea if it helped, but it can hardly do any harm. A Google search turned up a Lancet article saying it seemed to reduce side-effects in volunteers.
A minute after i had my vaccine i went dizzy and had to sit down for 15 minutes, followed by severe headache, tingling lips, itchy back, numb tongue, thick throat/felt like i was being strangled and high temprature with the shakes all of which i am still having.
I only had the vaccine on monday so i am going to give it a few days then off to the Gp.
I had my second jab last week. Unlike my first dose of the AZ, when I had flu like symptoms and a headache for a few days, I had no after effects other than a slightly sore arm.
I had my second AZ vaccine last Sunday. Foggy brain all day Monday, fine now.
I had my second vaccine ten days ago. Ever since, I’ve had a weird metallic taste in my mouth. Anyone else experienced that? Apart from a sore arm, that’s the only side effect I’ve had this time.
