How many of you have been 'pinged'? Did you self isolate for the number of days notified to you? Is the system working?

It is frustrating not to have the correct information.

I have had my 2 jabs, tested negative pcr test but still have to isolate due to work.

But my dd is feeling quite rough with symptoms and having to look after a 6 yr old and 14 yr old (he is not too bad can cope for himself) dd is feeling nauseus, headache etc doesn't seem to be improving and I am unable to go and help her, other wise I will have to start the 10 days again I presume.

I was pinged last night, because I had been in a venue where others had been who later tested positive. But I was just told to take a test rather than self-isolate. Have they changed the procedure? I did a test and it was negative.

Did you do a PCR test? I didn't think the results came back so quickly. If it was a LFT, be aware they're not that accurate.

No, I just did a lateral flow. If I develop any symptoms I will do a PCR test.

So you don't know for sure that you're negative.

When I have done a PCR which I have done 4 times over the last year had it delivered by post and posted it back the same day in a postbox with NHS sticker on it . I had the result later the same night usually about 8.30pm.

I know of people who are going away on holiday and switching the App off their phone for the duration. It's as though they're entering a different world with gay abandon. They also don't want to worry about being off work on their return.
I have eaten out and gone to seaside tourist attractions a fair bit, but have not been pinged.

I have followed all the rules but simply refuse to have the app.

I didn't realise it could be done so quickly. A friend of mine has had three done over the last two weeks and has had to wait 24 hours in each case. That's why I asked. GrandmaKT confirmed it wasn't a PCR test.

The app can't be downloaded to my phone, so I've never had it.

I wonder how I'd fare at the job centre if I told them I'd isolated so many times that my shifts were covered, and I no longer had any work?

EthelJ Mon 12-Jul-21 17:28:34

I have the app and use it to check into venues etc. I have never been pinged. I don't go out very often though.

BlueBelle Mon 12-Jul-21 17:35:02

I followed all asked of us but didn’t put the app on my phone

LtEve Mon 12-Jul-21 18:36:31

I’ve had the app since it started and have never been pinged. I work in amongst approximately one hundred people and now go out a lot to pubs and restaurants. I’ve stayed in hotels since they reopened and go to the gym.

MissAdventure Mon 12-Jul-21 18:38:18

It can't possibly be working as it should when you read peoples' experiences.
None of it makes sense.

Whiff Mon 12-Jul-21 18:41:59

growstuff I live in Merseyside. I was surprised to get the results so quickly everytime. My daughter did a PCR test on my grandson and posted it and got the results back the same day this was last week.

It may depend where you live how quickly you get the results.

Even though I have been double dosed I do a lateral flow test every Saturday and take all the precautions. I will still wear my mask in shops and on the bus even if they say we don't have to. Better safe than sorry.

growstuff Mon 12-Jul-21 19:16:03

I wasn't disputing anything Whiff. I was surprised, that's all.

I've never done a PCR test (or even a LFT), so I really don't know how efficient the system is.

Yes and yes.

Oldbat1 Mon 12-Jul-21 22:07:29

My iphone is too old to download app.

lemsip Mon 12-Jul-21 22:22:56

I have not been 'pinged' for many years. .....lol

I was pinged after a visit to Specsavers, told to isolate for 8 days so I did. Went to a drive in test centre and was sent a text the next morning to say the result was negative.

Whiff Tue 13-Jul-21 09:34:30

growstuff I didn't think you where disputing what I said. But I know health services vary from area to area. I used to live in the West Midlands and the health care I get here is far superior .

Polarbear2 Tue 13-Jul-21 09:40:14

Deleted it. It doesn’t work imho. I suspect it’s just randomly sending them out to try and persuade us the billions spent were worth it. I give my details on paper now.

DaisyL Tue 13-Jul-21 10:23:29

I've got the app - haven't been 'pinged' but am thinking of deleting it although I believe that after 16th August you won't have to self-isolate if you've been double vaccinated.

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Jul-21 10:34:40

We’ve both got the app, eaten out and been to the pub, never been pinged, I’ve downloaded my passport now too, so I can go clubbing ??

mphammersley Tue 13-Jul-21 10:40:53

Never been pinged

Alioop Tue 13-Jul-21 10:41:35

Have never been pinged and have had the app from it was launched. I've only had to isolate once waiting on a home test result because I was told to by my doctor because I had a sinus infection.
