AGAIN- Rees-Mogg was representing the PM officially, in The House- when he said this- totally in contradiction of the Health Minister's advice. Why should it be taken with 'a pinch of salt'?

Do you think the way Covid is being managed in other countries is wonderful? All countries are feeling their way still and hoping for less harmful mutations, whilst trying to give their citizens a reasonable life and kickstart their economies.

New South Wales have been able to get their covid outbreak under control despite being slow when it came to vaccinating their residents. We had a head start on other countries because of our vaccination programme but look where we are now. Is that good, competent leadership? And when people in the government come out with the sort of stupid statement that Rees Mogg has made is it any wonder we have an escalating infection rate which will lead to an escalating death rate. Not to mention long covid. And high infection rates seem to lead to variants. But hey, why learn from past mistakes ?

Thank you to everyone who are understanding of the situation that my partner and I, and many, many other people are in.
I did just type and delete several paragraphs detailing our circumstances, but it didn’t seem right, and because I think most people have empathy or a degree of imagination.
I doubt very much indeed if anyone on here was in the same or similar situation as us, that they would not also be suffering considerable mental health difficulties.

I wish they'd bring back mask wearing too. I think it would be useful for people at work too who are having to work in close proximity to one another.

I never said other countries were managing Covid wonderfully.
However many countries in Europe are at least having the sense to make mask wearing mandatory.
When Australia had rules they enforced them, which never happened here.

I expect Rees Mogg and his supporters on here also believe wearing seat belts and crash helmets should be the free choice of the individual and not compulsory, so maybe they should argue for that. Since when should a PUBLIC health measure be a PRIVATE choice?

Should we have to report it when someone is minimising the feelings of a poster who is talking about their vulnerable partner and their difficult position with accessing healthcare?

Should people just, through common decency and kindness, not be hurtful in that situation?

Yes on this occasion he was responding to a comment opposite him from Labour. I forget his name Lucca. He’d counted mask wearers opposite -who were in closer proximity to one another - rather than across the divide. I could look up his name I suppose. I’ll finish my cuppa first!

You couldn’t bear to acknowledge that Mrs Pickles’ post regarding Tories was pretty dire so attempted to deflect by suggesting Lemon’s post needed reporting and asked and answered your own question. Psychic as well! As you believed the post needed reporting but KNEW nobody was affronted enough to do so, I helpfully suggested you report it yourself. I assume you have a report option like everyone else. I didn’t report Mrs P’s post but others did. As GNHQ aren’t around 24/7 they quite possibly haven’t looked at it yet.

Lemongrove its interesting to see that although "other countries are feeling their way" they are still managing to have much , much lower rates of Covid than we have.We are next to the top of the world list with more than 52,000 new infections compared with 6,000 in
France and 2,500 in Spain.Italy has a strict rule about mask wearing and that is helping there.
There is an interesting letter in the Times today from a consultant oncologist in which he says " I cannot agree with Sajid Javid that the NHS is coping. There are many vaccinated NHS staff off work because of contracting Covid or because their contacts have. I support the BMA's stance that we must must move to plan B immediately. Since our government will not listen to scientists and doctors , perhaps if other countries followed Morocco the UK might reflect and introduce measures to reduce the rise of cases."
Comments like those made by Rees-Mogg do not help .

I think your post shows far more about you than any posters who feel that respecting a very recently murdered MP is the correct and proper way to act?
