After all this time...have picked up covid...feeling absolutely terrible...its like a butterfly..flitting around...lower back pain, intermittent headaches, legs and shoulders painful...and a temperature....but so cold that I'm in bed fully dressed, hot water bottle and a woolly hat on....look like a bag lady .....I'm nearly 70, fit, this is the first time I've ever spent a whole day in bed!!....

BlueBelle Sat 19-Mar-22 02:34:45

When all this started two years ago I knew I wasn’t going to be ill from CoviD and so far I am right You sound one of the most arrogant people I ve ever come across misschatline
What a crowing, unpleasant post
No one knows what will or will not effect them I should imagine your hard exterior has completely frightened CoviD away (and everyone else)
Perhaps boarding school damaged you, who knows! but there’s something missing I think it’s called compassion and humility

Casdon

It’s just not true. This is from the Society of Immunolgy, evidence based.

I know it's not true, but I was interested in why MissChateline thinks it is. It's obvious she doesn't have any evidence.

What exactly do I think is or is not true ? I'm confused now. I have no idea what you are on about.

Certainly not arrogant and definitely not lacking in compassion and humility. Anyone who knows me would attest to that.
I am just stating that I had some feeling right from the beginning that I was not going to catch covid because I never catch anything and so far I have been correct. But......I will not be told who I can and can not have in my house, hug, go for a walk with or how long I can go for a walk for.
Hard exterior maybe a survival requirement. But if you had been with me this evening at a church concert sobbing my heart out about the rapid deterioration of my 90 year old dad you might think differently.

I am just stating that I had some feeling right from the beginning that I was not going to catch covid because I never catch anything and so far I have been right you may not recognise it but this is total arrogance

I will not be told who I can and can not have in my house, hug, go for a walk with or how long I can go for a walk for
Do you wear a seatbelt, do you pay taxes do you drive and adhere to speed limits as a society we are told all the time what we can and can’t do so unless you are a complete maverick living outside the law then you are following rules daily, hourly. Why would this be different?

I was not a slave to the rules and regulations either I never sanitised parcels or food I didn’t stop going out but for the sake of others especially those who would have to look after me I complied with the majority of the restraints

And lucky as you have been in life to never be ill NO ONE not even you knows they won’t catch something or get run over or have a tree branch fall on their head let’s hope your luck doesn’t run out

I m sorry about your Dad today is the anniversary of my Dads death I feel it deeply my mum died 6 months later so I understand about your tears

MissChateline Sat 19-Mar-22 03:56:04

Bluebell.....for goodness sake.

you may not recognise it but this is total arrogance.
Its not arrogance....its knowing how I am. Its a fact, I just don't seem to catch anything, I never have done. Therefore if im not going to catch it and be ill no one would have to look after me.

Of course I wear a seat belt and pay taxes. Its the law. I wore a mask when it was a legal requirement. Social distancing, hugging and only exercising once a day were recommendations not the law.
Its too late for this silliness.

Sorry to hear you have Covid. I have had it felt awful had to have steroids to help breathing along with antibiotics. My DH has a compromised immune system he got it but was ok said felt like a heavy cold. DH had his 4th vaccination for Covid last week.

Thankfully I haven't got a cough, because I do have asthma...I feel weak as a kitten..but worst symptom is aching in lower back/kidney area...anyone else had this?

Pittcity Sat 19-Mar-22 08:12:27

Yes Farview, I had the backache in the area you describe. It was crippling for a couple of days but then eased. Ibuprofen and stretching helped. It was made worse by sitting for too long which was all I had the strength to do.

farview Sat 19-Mar-22 08:20:28

Thanks Pittcity....
Another strange symptom...I keep getting a sensation on my torso that's like shingles pain...but no rash...?‍♀️

You are not alone with Covid and I'm afraid you will not be alone for a long time, especially as the people around you now, do not wear masks to prevent catching it, and, spreading it.

How many people do not realise that it is not going to go away?

Get the message?

I think I am on day 4 (brain fog) and managed to have a shower this morning. Yesterday I stayed in my pyjamas all day and couldn't even wash.
OH helped me to change the bed so all fresh again now.
The NHS have been wonderful and very efficient. The PCR came very quickly and then they delivered an oximeter (I have lung damage) and message me for readings every day. I was also asked if I wanted to take an immunity test, presumably when I am better.
To those of you who haven't had it yet, stock up on paracetamol and get bread etc. into your freezer.

*Oldandproud*...??...but not the poppadom for breakfast eh?...?‍♀️

That was definitely an unusual breakfast grin
Maybe he felt that grilling some bread was still just a bit too complicated for him, but thought that a ready-made poppadom was the next best thing ... ?

Granmarderby10 Sat 19-Mar-22 13:26:19

Just had a positive result on a lateral flow.
I have a heavy streaming cold (the first in over 3 years) with aching face and knees.
But no cough
It came on like the onset of any head cold.
As soon as I put the liquid on the test strip both lines appeared
Out with the masks again!

farview Sat 19-Mar-22 14:40:42

Oldnproud...that made me laugh...?

Smurf52 Sat 19-Mar-22 19:49:16

Being nearly 70 and retired and hardly going out I’ve managed to keep Covid at bay. Two weeks ago we came back from a week in New York and with Covid. I too had the headaches, joint pains and a nasty cough. Extreme fatigue and sleeping most of the day. Apart from the cough, 10 days later I think I’m on the mend. Hope you all with Covid are getting better soon.

Susieq62 Sat 19-Mar-22 20:21:03

Daughter of 41 has it after staying safe all this time! Says it feels like a chest infection plus she is tired! She is drinking warm ginger ale and rum ! Says it helps! She is isolating ! I hope to see her for Mother’s Day ??

Pepper59 Sat 19-Mar-22 21:45:04

Does anyone feel/ think it's much more than 'just a cold'? Considering I used to shift a cold in about 4 days. Many with Covid seem to be ill for 10 days or longer.

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 21:58:36

Pepper59, a friend had it (the mild, Omicron version) in December, saying it was 'Only a cold!' and wondering what all the fuss was about.

Since then, she's had persistent fatigue, brain fog and insomnia.

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 22:01:54

MissChateline, fyi - my friend hadn't had a day's illness in her life, didn't seem to ever catch a thing - so maybe don't speak too soon?

Pepper59 Sat 19-Mar-22 22:11:35

Hetty, I have heard that before. I hope your friend gets better.

BlueBelle Sat 19-Mar-22 22:13:59

The actual virus was for me, no more than a bad cold BUT 15 days on I am still very tired and feeling weaker than normal the cough lasted two days then it went to my head and I was full of a head cold for two weeks I tested positive for a good two weeks but was negative two days ago one daughter is still feeling weak and tired and a little bit breathless after two full weeks The other daughter was fine after just a few days
Weird it really is how different it is for everybody

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 22:59:10

It seems so odd - most of us know somebody with Covid (Delta, Omicron, Deltacron, whatever) right now, yet it's hardly mentioned on the news - as if it's gone away!

Forestflame Sat 19-Mar-22 23:47:03

According to our local news, 1 in 20 people in my area have it.??to all of you who have it. Wishing you better very soon

Oldnproud Sun 20-Mar-22 08:06:27

I heard them say on TV yesterday that in some areas there are more people in hospital with Covid now than there have been at any other time since it began.
They didn't say which areas, but it really does highlight how much of it there is around now, and how serious it can be for many people. They certainly don't hospitalise people for no good reason nowadays.

Iam64 Sun 20-Mar-22 08:17:10

I had to use the emergency system via 111 yesterday. The wait for my first call to be answered was 1 hour 15minutes. The process started at 12.30 and it was 4.45 before a nurse based locally gave me a 6.30 appointment. I was seen at 7.45 pm. On a positive note, the doctor was thorough announced I’m poorly and prescribed various additions to the antibiotics I’ve been taking for 10 days.
I’m not positive for covid, which I’d known via lft. Our nhs is really struggling isn’t it
