I'm a newbie to web cams Kate1949, having only recently discovered the ones at Yellowstone Park, but these in Venice are very much clearer and better quality. The music is a bonus too!

There's a shop that makes all the papièr machè masks for Mardi Gras, operas and masked balls. Each mask is totally unique and they've never made the same mask twice.

Where to start. I can recall lace shops, Murano glass, beautiful embroidered table cloths - we bought one which came with lovely matching napkins - mask shops. I can recall a shop window with beautiful carved wooden items, including a full size motor bike. I bought some little glass bracelets from a shop in St Marks Square. Much more.

Oh, it sounds and looks it, Kate.
I never thought I would feel the urge to go a-wandering around again, but i hadnt had a taste of Venice.

So many sights. The magnificent Doge's Palace, the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, some of the islands. Pop into Harry's Bar for a Bellini if you don't mind being ripped off! More knowledgeable people than me will tell you more.

Loads of fabulous things MissAdventure! Apart from the mask shops where you can even paint and decorate your own masquerade masks, there are Murano glass shops and dozens of gelateria shops. There's the Teatro Italia, a once beautiful cinema that had fallen into disrepair and is now a food emporium. The original frescoes on the ceilings have been fully restored and are stunning. They sell everything, including meat-free products, including ready-to-eat meals like vegan lasagna and eggplant parmesan, and even vegan Nutella, which will appeal to StarDreamer and you, I think.

No not many times Chewbacca. Four or five I think maybe. I think I'm sounding like a know it all 9n here. I'm not really. I just love the place.

You can do a tour of La Fenice- the Opera house. You are given a recorded guide and just wander around. If you are lucky (and I was) there may be a rehearsal going on and you can sit in the Royal box and watch it. www.teatrolafenice.it/en/
