I would love to see Simply Red at Glasto. They last performed in 1986 I think.

Lewis Capaldi is on at the moment, good to see him performing after his health challenges last year. DGD had booked to see him but he cancelled because he was unwell.
He's so much more enjoyable to listen than today's rappers!
I'm looking forward to seeing The Searchers. 🙂

No sign of Prodigy on atavistic
On TV!!
I was looking for that too, Jaxjacky - all I could find was Olivia Rodrigo. Mind you, The Prodigy will never be the same without Keith.
Scrap that - found the live channel on iPlayer
Just watching Sir Rod on iPlayer. I’m 10 years behind him - I hope I’m still as fit as he is at 80! I’ve never been a fan of Simply Red, but I love watching Rod Stewart live. Lulu’s looking good too at 76! I’ve always admired her hair styles. The only disappointment was that Rod didn’t sing ‘Can’t Stop Me Now’, the song he wrote in memory of his Dad. I love that song. 😎
Next year I’d like to see Metallica on the Legends stage. They’re touring though, so maybe in 2027?

They were amazing tonight. Should have been on the Pyramid stage imo. I was never a big fan back in the day* but I’m a convert now.
*until I realised that Keith did dressage but, alas he wasn’t with us for much longer after that RIP. The new singer is awesome. Was he in the band before or did he replace Keith?
I started watching Olivia whoever she is until there was a full on camera shot of her crotch ( was that intentional or an embarrassing mistake
?) and thankfully I switched over.

Not on next year…
Flicked through GLASO but I flicked it off. Not for me this year!
Rod was way past his best, but at 80 much more energetic than most of us, it was a good sing along to round off Glastonbury, next one in 2 yrs time is the plan
Prodigy, fantastic closing act on " other " stage closed Glastonbury with an amazing set.
Rod is wearing well and put on a good show but his voice is way past its best which is only natural at 80.
Not a fan of Simply Red but Mick Hucknall can still sing, and so can Lulu who was looking good.
Loved all the musicians and backing singers, and loved those little red ankle boots (and the gold ones) the young women were wearing.
Pleased to watch it from my sofa as I found the aerial views of the huge crowds overwhelming.

That's Maxim - he's an original member of the band and used to do vocals alongside Keith.
Yes, Keith loved horses - he was also very much into motorbike racing. I know a couple of people who met him through that and said he was the nicest person, a total contrast from his stage persona.
Watching them now!
I was cooking last night [had food that needed cooking and had to wait till it was a bit cooler] but in the end went and sat in the living room with the light off watching Prodigy. It's a good job the dog is off on holiday with her dad as she hates loud noises [it's probably why I don't play music as much as I used to]. I thought nothing could top Neil Young but they came close. And, the good thing is they're on iplayer so I can watch them again!

*Always have to laugh when someone says 'who is so-and-so anyway'? Just makes the person sound really out of touch*
I think it’s a bit odd when older people ( and most on here are well over 60 ) want to ‘be in touch’ with ‘pop music’ & new artists. We’re not their audience 😀
I agree, it sounds too much like claiming to be down wiv da kids 😄
I’m def out of touch, so many at Glasto I’d never heard of and don’t mind admitting it.
Rod does look good, or at least not much different to how he used to look (not always the same thing) but like Paul McCartney his voice has gone. However if fans still like to see them then it’s all good.

If Maggie May was written nowadays she’d be put on some kind of register. 😂
I was thinking that just yesterday 😬

*Good grief, seriously? Do you think we should all be listening to Boom Radio?*
Haha, Boom radio is actually ok.
But I listen to R2 mostly.
I doubt I’d know much on R1 & hardly anything on Capital. Which is fine.
😂
I must be seriously out of touch as never heard of Boom Radio.
Can you imagine how hot it must have been like at Glasto yesterday ?🔥☄️☄️☀️gasp
A question I saw today:
Why were Bob Vylan's calls for death and racial violence simply 'unacceptable' and 'should not have been broadcast' according to a Government Minister when a woman, Lucy Connolly, was sentenced to 20 months in prison for stirring up racial hatred?
I’m def out of touch, so many at Glasto I’d never heard of and don’t mind admitting it.
😁 Me too!
Chatting to a younger person today - not a really young person, and said I was disappointed that The Searchers weren't broadcast at all and she said 'Who are The Searchers?'
Apparently Olivia Rodrigo appeals to the later 'Emo Generation'.
Music:
^Emo music is known for its introspective and emotionally charged lyrics, often dealing with themes of heartbreak,
alienation, and personal struggles.^
Of course, we never encountered any of those things in our lives!
I popped in and out all weekend but really only enjoyed the Ezra Collective. I have to admit Rod did very well and nice to see Simply Red. Other than that a lot of shouty girls but with good voices so I hope as they mature as singers the shouting will be less.
Such a shame The Searchers were ignored by the BBC
I thought it was absolutely disgusting to chant death death to the IDF on stage. Glastonbury organisers should have cut the electric power to the stage and evicted them from the festival there and then. The BBC should have shut it off too and not let it broadcast once they realised what was being said.
I do support an end to the war and freedom for Palestine. People need to remember that the IDF are conscripts and someone's sons and daughters being made to fight of their own free will or otherwise. And so probably are Hamas.

And, as the guy from The Script ( who were excellent) said ‘nobodies on a mobile phone’. I’ll be giving Rod a miss now he seems to support Farage
.
Me too MayBee70, I'm horrified at how much BBC exposure Farage has had and negative stuff about starmer,
it may be no coincidence that farage has just announced a plan to limit the amount of tax wealthy people pay if they buy a brittania card for £25k, maybe thats what Rod likes
