Remember ha thread where we stated what Xmas jobs we intend to do that day, and then came on later and said whether we had done them or not? Well.

How about a thread where we say what exercise we intend to do that day? And then come on say whether we did it? Or not?

You wouldn't have to necessarily do anything huge. No five thousand miles or anything like that. Half hour walking, twenty minutes dancing to Ken Bruce, riding your bike into town if you've got one, (icyalittle has) would be fine. In fact, we would actually have a ban on anything superhuman. smile

Anyone up for it?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 10:48:41

I meant 'that thread' in the title. Sorry.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 10:51:54

I'll start the ball rolling. I have done half an hour exercise biking to Guns'n'roses. and I have got a numb fanny

Tomorrow I will have a small exercise day. Twenty minutes dancing in the hall (parquet flooring - no carpet to wear out) to Ken Bruce. Or Abba.

I have been on a four mile walk through the woods down to the River Mersey. It was very quiet...just a few dog walkers and the golf course was empty.
I have done very little exercise for the last few weeks as I had the cough from hell so need to try to get fit again.

mumofmadboys Fri 01-Jan-16 17:57:51

I walked 7 miles this afternoon and feel worn out!!

vegasmags Fri 01-Jan-16 18:04:12

I tried jogging once, but my cigarette kept going out.

ninathenana Fri 01-Jan-16 18:10:08

Wow, I couldn't walk 2 miles these days let alone 7.
I've done my physio exercises for my neck/shoulder. Does that count smile

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 18:14:09

Yes. That counts. Any exercise.

Katek Fri 01-Jan-16 18:22:01

I've breathed a lot.....does that count?

Walked 3 miles through Grantchester Meadows and back.
Won't manage anything tomorrow as we'll be travelling back up north all day, unless I remember to do stretching & toning and the plank before we set off.

Exercise classes which I normally attend 4-5 times a week don't get going again until next Monday, so just doing my usual daily 10-15,000 steps. Turned on TV earlier to find it was tuned to shopping channel, advertising www.beachbody.co.uk/product/fitness-training/hip-hop-abs.do?code=HIPHOPABSCOUK
which looked fun, so ordered the DVDs. I suffer from vertigo, therefore hate lying-down abdominal crunches etc. this works abs from standing up. I have a stack of fitness DVDs which rarely get used, but you never know, I might enjoy them, even if only to admire the men's six-packs!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 21:03:55

I think you have all got the wrong idea of the thread.

Never mind.

smile

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 21:04:39

I might do it all on my own.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 21:05:21

Tomorrow I will do another half hour on my exercise bike.

NanKate Fri 01-Jan-16 21:11:31

How have we got it wrong Jing ?

I said we would go for a riverside walk today about 3 miles. We did it but were up to our ankles (well nearly) in mud. My shoes got soaked and
I felt a bit miserable. My DH who is usually the pessimist tried to cheer me up. Couldn't wait to get home in the warm and dry.

So much for a brisk country walk. hmm

etheltbags1 Fri 01-Jan-16 21:20:43

Ive been walking but I did it to encourage my friend who needs to excersise, I hated it, I prefer to excersise my eyes with a good book/kindle book/magazine.

shysal Fri 01-Jan-16 21:41:08

Tomorrow I shall do my usual 10-15,000 steps. Then I shall come back to say I have done it. O.K.? When the DVDs arrive I shall tell you whether I did the exercises or looked at the six-packs. Is that worded more like you wanted Jingl? grin

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 22:14:02

Well, yes. That's fine. Sort of.

But I envisaged this thread to be a bit less super-human more for 'little' exercise achievements.

Haven't you got yer own thread for the 5000 steps thing? confused

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 01-Jan-16 22:16:07

The exercise DVDs sound very include-able. smile

I intend to haul out my exercise bike to get these wonky old knees working ! 2 minutes to start with , increasing by a minute each day , then once stronger , I'll find my ancient Rosemary Connelly video . I used to love it and managed to do the whole hour before going out to work - funny how we get lazy ? New Year - New Me - feeling happy , happy !

grannyqueenie Sat 02-Jan-16 08:47:59

I'm thinking about walking from the bed to the shower....but it's just a thought, does that count jingle ? grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 02-Jan-16 09:26:09

No! Norty norty girl!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 02-Jan-16 09:28:01

tiredoldwoman half an hour on my bike can really lift my spirits. And it doesn't affect my bad knee as much as walking can do.

Onwards!

tiredoldwoman Sat 02-Jan-16 10:19:47

Da - dah ! I actually did 5 mins on my bike while the bath was running ! Feeeling good , will add more minutes each day !
Clever thread , Jinglbellsfrocks - it's got me jingling !
