Remember ha thread where we stated what Xmas jobs we intend to do that day, and then came on later and said whether we had done them or not? Well.

How about a thread where we say what exercise we intend to do that day? And then come on say whether we did it? Or not?

You wouldn't have to necessarily do anything huge. No five thousand miles or anything like that. Half hour walking, twenty minutes dancing to Ken Bruce, riding your bike into town if you've got one, (icyalittle has) would be fine. In fact, we would actually have a ban on anything superhuman. smile

Anyone up for it?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 05-Jan-16 16:33:06

Hope you can still enjoy your trip icyalittle.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 05-Jan-16 16:52:28

Oh my gosh! Yes. Stairs definitely count. wine

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 05-Jan-16 16:54:29

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 05-Jan-16 16:54:53

that went well

Stansgran Tue 05-Jan-16 18:00:12

Decorations down but not put away. Lots of toing and froing as the plumber was servicing the ch boiler and the cold burns lots of calories doesn't it she said hopefully. About to do my last lot of exercises. Watched videos of the incipient floods outside a friend's house and I was mentally swimming very hard across the Wansbeck. Eggzorsted now.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 05-Jan-16 18:09:00

Mine are down but not put away. I'm not doing anymore today. Bound to have missed some anyway. Will finish in the morning.

Hard work, Xmas.

Crow Tue 05-Jan-16 18:25:45

Walked to the village and back in pouring rain!! Just over a mile. I do wish drivers would slow down when they drive past pedestrians and the roads are wet and drains are overflowing. I always do. ?
I am so fed up with constant rain that I decided to walk and get wet. It felt great. So shall do that again tomorrow, slowly building up to longer walks and ignore the complaining from the knees!! Thank you Jings

Grandma2213 Wed 06-Jan-16 03:01:23

Just found this thread. I started my fitness regime on Monday as planned with a free Zumba class (never done it before) but also walked there and back - one mile each way.

Fully intended to walk today but spent the day taking down and putting away decorations. Does up and down ladders and stairs count? Oh yes I also walked round (and round several times) the local garden centre to choose half price decorations for next year.

Tomorrow (today) I will walk!!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 06-Jan-16 11:03:05

Yes. Taking decs down definitely counts. And swearing at the wet (dirty?) marks on the carpet where we took the Xmas tree out, might have burned a few calories. hmm

I am going to walk to local shops too Crow. A mile each way, same as yours!

Icyalittle Wed 06-Jan-16 13:22:06

Up and down stairs a lot, packing. And sorted fridge, including walking to local recycling (that doesn't count as the cycling I have sworn off) with random stuff. Used much energy swearing as I tried to wash hair and dry it one handed. I now look like a bush.
But thank you Jings anyway.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 06-Jan-16 14:40:11

I might have to just walk, slowly, to the Co-op, which is only ten minutes away! blush Can't believe how much Xmas has turned this house upside down! Having my glasses on isn't helping. #needscleaning

LullyDully Wed 06-Jan-16 16:30:20

Spent all day taking down decorations AND packed them away AND cleaned........shattered.

Grandma2213 Thu 07-Jan-16 02:25:55

Did my walk today (yesterday) nearly 4 miles. Took lots of photos as it was a beautiful day for a change.
1. My favourite local walk.
2. Daddy swan with youngsters. He has brought them up after Mummy was killed by a dog earlier in the year (last year).
3. The river is still flowing fast!

Grandma2213 Thu 07-Jan-16 02:34:52

That's not all folks! Had to race home including one steep and sweaty hill as I received a text to pick up DGC from school. Then did Tesco shop. Feeling fed up after cooking tea and DS decided to go to the gym first so went for another walk round the village in the dark, almost 2 more miles.

Decorations still need putting in loft and shed, and living room is a sight to behold!! Tomorrow's job plus major hoovering. Then pick up DGD from nursery and the chaos of the weekend starts. Hey Ho! Can't wait till Monday.

tiredoldwoman Thu 07-Jan-16 05:30:48

Went back to work on Tuesday so glad that I woke up the Christmas body with some pre- work exercise ! Have just exercised for 20 mins then only 6 mins on the bike - I upped the gears to a stiffer one and 6 mins was enough ! Will do 7 tomorrow !
Feeling much better for it all - yesterday's aches have disappeared .

Grandma2213 Fri 08-Jan-16 00:39:25

Thought I hadn't exercised today then considered :

- Stretching and bending to pick up everything that would jam the hoover.

- Hoovering for almost an hour until I was in a sweat, to pick up glitter, bits of tinsel, food, chocolate bits, stuck on sellotape and many even more unmentionables!

- Balancing over paving stones to negotiate my flooded lawn and get to the shed.

- Lifting heavy bikes and boxes to put decoration stuff at the back of the shed.

- Up and down ladders to put more stuff in loft, some of which was quite heavy.

Sounds like a work out you would pay for at the gym so yes it was exercise!!!

tiredoldwoman Fri 08-Jan-16 05:50:09

Yes, Grandma2213 that sounds like an intensive work out. I've slept in this morning , no time to do my bike etc. Will work extra hard at work today , big steps over the puddles and do my work out tonight ! Promise !
It would be so easy to slide off this new routine but I want to keep at it . Going to Portugal in May and need to be fitter . Albufeira - anyone been ?

Grandma2213 Sat 09-Jan-16 03:19:41

tiredoldwoman, no never been there but going to Fuerteventura in August so also need to get fitter (and thinner). I have failed today except for taking DGD (aged 3) for a walk round the block with her pram. A gentle stroll really except for running down the hill after her pram to catch it (several times) which she found extremely funny. Does laughing count as exercise??

cornergran Sat 09-Jan-16 05:36:31

Would love to join in. Hope laughing counts as exercise. Think of all those muscles it uses and it's something I definitely need to do more of. Have an instrument of torture called a body blade. It's been in a cupboard for months but is supposed to strengthen muscles and re-claim waists. Need both of those. Training course today and a food shop which I hope counts as exercise. Those bags are heavy and mowing people down pushing the trolley must count - please? So Sunday I will watch the instructional DVD again and use the body blade at least 4 times a week. Will walk a bit more too. But not in the rain I just hate that. Will at least smile and try to laugh each day. Have turned into a right old grump. blush Hope all this counts.

tiredoldwoman Sat 09-Jan-16 06:30:33

Yes, laughing must be the best exercise Grandma2213!

I saw them body blading on QVC - tiny little movements but works the body - quite fancied it . I'd be interested in your blading, cornergran . Keep smiling !

Icyalittle Sat 09-Jan-16 10:45:50

Walked 15 minutes in the pouring rain to the bread shop (good). Then ate the bread (bad). At least while it is raining I am not tempted onto the soggy snow. Another day for my arm to improve...

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 09-Jan-16 13:53:18

Bread is lovely good for you icy.

I will make no comment on this thread at the moment. I have been baaad! shock

Grandma2213 Sun 10-Jan-16 00:22:25

Jings, if you have been bad do you feel guilty? They say guilt eats away at you so at least you should be slimmer!!!

I have actually jogged today (not on purpose) to keep up with 3 year old DGD on her bike. A good hour of this, fast walking, chasing and football can only have me on track for a place in the Olympics!!! Or Physio! hmm]

Grandma2213 Sun 10-Jan-16 00:23:27

hmm Thought I'd try that one again - failed smiley!
