(Forgot today was Thursday and your birthday! Losing the plot.)

Happy birthday Jane10!

Lupin Sat 11-Nov-17 18:04:44

Thank you Jane for posting on this diet. I have been 16:8ing since Monday and am in the groove. It's a relief to feel hungry! I can be such a pig. Have tried various diets in the past including hypnosis and lost weight but put it all back on.
This diet feels like a life style I could settle into. I don't feel so restricted on the foods I can eat.
I have noticed the weeing!
I feel really well.
I hope you had a happy birthday Jane10.

Jane10 Sat 11-Nov-17 18:28:43

Thanks all. I had a lovely day. I'm still going strong with this 'diet'. However, I do think I'm pushing it. Its sort of given me the green light to eat all sorts of things I know I shouldn't. That being said a layer of me round the middle seems to have evaporated. Lots more to go though. Onwards!

Lunch at 1.30 which was a bit late but was at airport, had two pieces of toast with sardines and half a melon then veggie lasagne about hour ago, I feel stuffed which is good, have drunk lots of water and will have some more fruit before my cutoff time. Really don't feel like gorging so it can only be a good thing.

J52 Sat 11-Nov-17 19:23:09

I had a slice of fruit loaf toast at 12, my breakfast! Then nothing until 4pm, a cup of mint tea and a mince pie.
At half past 6 I had two fajitas and a glass of wine.
I feel really full now. I think your stomach shrinks and expects less.

Menopaws Sat 11-Nov-17 20:05:52

Yes it's weird, I wish I had done this years ago, I feel my digestion is much healthier and I'm eating food for the right reasons now rather than just being a pig and I'm not stressing about what I eat for the first time in years, long may it last, scales tomo!

NfkDumpling Sat 11-Nov-17 21:47:28

I think I may have messed up a bit this afternoon. I managed the 16 hours without a problem but then all these people came round to help consume all the goodies Messrs Marks and Spencer had provided, and I joined them. DiL and DS had made me an enormous chocolate birthday cake and I partook and SiL kept filling my glass when I wasn’t looking and I couldn’t waste it. I fear I may be undone.

If it was in your 8 hours you'll be OK! Don't panic. Slow but sure.

Interesting to see if any other benefits. How about acid reflux? Bloating? Indigestion? Insomnia? Arthritis? etc....

Any improvements on these or other complaints which might be triggered by diet?

Menopaws Sun 12-Nov-17 08:46:29

I've lost a couple of pounds and I'm def sleeping well cos not overfill and so don't feel as bloated, in that place where you first start a diet and you can feel a bit of loss and generally feel more in control rather than the 'I'll start tomorrow feeling' of mild despair, so that's a nice feeling. I've done too many diets to know how it works though but I do feel hopeful as this is so easy, fingers crossed!

I lost 1lb after 3 days. Today it’s back on!!
I’ve been doing the 16:8 religiously and not eating a huge amount in the 8 period.
I’ll stick with it for a bit longer and see. Then it’s back to 5:2, if there’s no improvement.

Jane10 Sun 12-Nov-17 09:28:06

3 days really isn't long enough. A pound can come and go for all sorts of reasons. It was almost 3 weeks before I noticed a difference. I resolutely refuse to be a slave to the weighting machine. The jeans test is best for me. However, it was the realisation that I was just plain smaller round the waist and hips that first amazed me enough to do my first post on this. That and DHs clothes now hanging on him!

whitewave Sun 12-Nov-17 09:47:37

Here I am after a couple of busy days, but still persevering.

No problems so far. I wee a lot anyway as I drink a lot of fluid, particularly in the mornings.

I’ve lot 1lb, but not taking any notice of that will see as jane says how I feel in say three weeks time. I think that this is my 5th day.

Today is porridge and fruit at 9am.
Crab bisque (M&S) with a slice of dried bread at 1pm and chilli and rice at 5pm.

I’ve given up on the weightwatchers as they were allowing me far too many points. I think my metabolism must be very slow.

Can you have milk in your tea during the 16 hr fast?

loopylou Sun 12-Nov-17 09:58:26

I do Sunlover
I've been doing 16:8alongside LCHF for 3 months and have lost 21 lbs. I'm lighter now than I have been for years!
It's easy and as a bonus I have lost my sweet tooth ?

loopylou Sun 12-Nov-17 09:59:27

Oh, and IBS seems to have gone!

Madgran77 Sun 12-Nov-17 10:10:47

What is it ok to drink during the 16 hour fast? Can I drink my English Breakfast with milk but not sugar! I'm fine re no food for 16 hours but struggle without cups of tea!

Madgran77 Sun 12-Nov-17 10:12:21

Oh sorry just seen sunliver has asked same question today!

Jane10 Sun 12-Nov-17 10:15:30

Drink whatever beverages you like. Lose the 'rules' that restricting diets impose.
I agree with other posters that maybe the 16 hours gives time for one's stomach to shrink as well as all the various health benefits.
Its not cool I know but I keep patting my tum to see if its still less than it was. It is !! Whoopee. Sunday lunch out today. Yum.

hildajenniJ Sun 12-Nov-17 10:19:04

I've been doing 16:8 since you started the thread Jane. Today is the first morning that I've felt really hungry. My son comes to us for lunch on Sundays, but he doesn't arrive until about 1:30. It's a long time to hang on! I will survive on black coffee. This morning I have been tempted, because youngest grandson has been here for a sleepover, and I had to make him breakfast.?

whitewave Sun 12-Nov-17 10:39:15

Would it be a good idea if those who are successfully losing weight give a sluggardly person like me an idea of what you are eating please? I am posting. What I am eating every day in the hope someone will say No!! That’s all wrong!, I shan’t mind at all, so feel free to criticise my efforts.

Blinko Sun 12-Nov-17 11:49:55

I've been doing 16:8 since you posted, Jane10. I feel lighter round the middle, no scales yet though. I'll give it three weeks and check then. Feels great so far.
