Frugal February

Anyone like to join me in this?

You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.

I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.

It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.

So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?

Oh never mind MissA You can always get back on it.grin

I'll have to, cavewoman. I'm going to give myself a good talking to. I went and bought supplies today: I didn't plan to eat nearly all of them in one sitting!

I had promised myself a Cadbury’s cream egg on 14th as a half-way cum Valentine treat. But my appointment with dentist is not till 15th and I be afeared of biting into anything solid until I’m sure the new crown will stay on.

Can one suck a cream egg into submission, do any Frugaleers know? ?

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 18:13:17

I'll eat one for you, if you like...

Millbrook Thu 08-Feb-18 19:08:59

I was thinking exactly the same thing Tegan2 !

I could never eat just one creme egg! I seem to have lost one pound this week- could be better, but I’m only aiming to lose about 5 pounds overall. Today we went to the pictures then to Pizza Express next door. So my food intake has been 2 complimentary oat and raisin cookies then a 500 calorie superfoods salad with added anchovies. Unfortunately with a mixed starter and - ahem - dough balls. That will definitely be it for today though, apart from snacks of a few olives and a little bunch of grapes.

Thanks a lot Tegan & Millbrook ?

Oh I was hoping for a picture sad

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:24:44

Ignore that it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 20:29:30

So naturally we all have to follow the link to see what it is you don’t want us to see!!

Jalima1108 Thu 08-Feb-18 20:30:23

All I can say is - ~We've been out a lot this week.

whitewave Thu 08-Feb-18 20:34:15

Well it should have been a picture of a chocolate bar and a quote from Oscar Wilde about temptation.

I hope to hone that newly acquired skill grin

Maggiemaybe Thu 08-Feb-18 23:05:49

Giving up chocolate for March?! shock What fresh hell is this?

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 07:32:34

Not for us Maggie we’ll have done our bit by then.

Incidentally thanks to those who are joining me in this, you’re a great support. It’s lovely to read your success posts and a big help to know that you too are trying so hard.

Without meaning to upset anyone, if this isn’t something you seriously want to do, then perhaps posting frivolous excuses isn’t helping the rest of us. I distinguish betwen genuine reasons or setbacks and ones that show you had no real commitment in the first place .

just saying

whitewave Fri 09-Feb-18 08:38:05

I know what you are say meg but I don’t really mind a bit of frivolity.

I have a favourite dress - blue and white silk wth a blue band around the waist. I am desperate to fit into the waist as it fits everywhere else. That’s what I’m aiming for at the minimum. I want to wear it in the Italian lakes and feel glamorous. grin

Yesterday went ok except that wretched hungry gap late afternoon. Fruit doesn’t really do it for me as I always crave carbs so usually have buttered crackers. Any ideas please? Really I guess it will be easier come the warmer weather as I will be more active and doing rather than sitting reading or watching tv.

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 08:46:34

I certainly don’t mind frivolity either WW or I wouldn’t have posted on advice on tacking cream eggs ?! But I think you understand what I getting at.

That’s a brilliant aim WW ??

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 08:46:55

Tackling

Niobe Fri 09-Feb-18 08:49:48

Weight at beginning of the month was 68.4 kg. Weight this morning 67.8 kg. It is soooo slow! Would love to be 65 kg by the end of the month but we shall see. I don't like Cadburys Creme Eggs but can't resist the Caramel ones so that will be my reward when I get to 65 kg. Onwards and downwards!

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 08:54:50

Yes, I recognise those late afternoon hunger pangs. Suggest you plan a healthy snack for about that time, possibly pushing it back 30 minutes or more if you can.

Fruit is full of sugar, so not sure but a buttered cracker might be the healthier option. Nairn’s oat biscuits are very low in sugar. I’d be tempted to have a couple of those with a thin slither of cheese.

Or how about a hard boiled egg?

A small handful of mixed nuts?

Or, if you can just eat the one, then alllw yourself just one biscuit with a cup of tea. I firmly believe that having one, little treat at your weak time can help you stay on track.

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 08:56:34

Hey Niobe you’ve cracked the 67kg barrier. Well done ????.

Now keep at it until you’re in the 66kh range,

OldMeg Fri 09-Feb-18 08:59:42

PS Any of you finding you’re doing more housework? If I get a fit of The Munchies then I find myself grabbing a cloth and wiping down worktops, units, or grabbing the hoover, or ironing, or bathing the puppy.

whitewave Fri 09-Feb-18 09:01:51

Yes I can only eat Nairn’s gluten free so that’s ok. I guess I have to accept that and go with the flow. Nuts are another idea, but once started....... I have zero self control as far as food is concerned. I can’t have it in the house because I would eat it.
