Frugal February

Anyone like to join me in this?

You can set your own ‘frugal’ guidelines but the aim is to eat and drink in a more restrained (and healthy) manner that usual just for 28 days.

I did this last year and lost those few extra pounds that nobody wants. For those who have more than a few pounds to shift it can kick start a real weight loss plan for 2018.

It can be combined with 16:8 and any other ‘diets’ you are following.

So, anyone out there want to join in for 28 days and we’ll share ideas and support each other? ?

I’ll be watching you and that pizza MissA ???

whitewave Wed 07-Feb-18 19:01:38

Oh I’ve lost 1lb this week! So that’s ok.

Although we had roast chicken tonight with roast potatoes.

MissAdventure Wed 07-Feb-18 19:04:30

Well done, whitewave! smile

Tegan2 Wed 07-Feb-18 19:11:37

I had my scone and latte at John Lewis so I'm only having a small meal tonight. Have been shopping for DGD's birthday; if only using a credit card could automatically lose weight at the same time I'd be sylph like....

grin tegan and me in fact it would be worrying

OldMeg Wed 07-Feb-18 19:31:57

Great news WW ??

whitewave Wed 07-Feb-18 19:40:35

I’m not sure how I managed it though. Talk about stumbling from day to day. I think maybe stopping having a glass of red wine every evening is the biggest factor.

Evening Oldmeg and fellow Frugeleers

WW well done!

Hopefully will get on the scales tomorrow.
I haven't weighed myself as yet,
So will not know if I have lost anything.
Seem to have developed a scales phobiashock.

Usual fruit, oats and yogurt, small glass off orange juice and Coffee for breakfast. (10:30am)

Apple for snack

Pork chop (no fat)
Sprouts and carrots
Roast potatoes made with low cal sunflower spray (5 sprays)
Table spoon of stuffing
Small amount of gravy.

Will check in tomorrow fingers crossed will have braved the scales grin

The pizza has been polished off by grandson now.. thankfully! I'm still hungry though, I probably should have made some veg to go with my dinner. A salad sandwich might be in order. blush

I've realised my dog loves broccoli; when I cook myself some to go with whatever I'm eating she sits by her bowl waiting for hers.

Well done, everyone, on today’s efforts! I’ve made up today for yesterday’s wine and midnight snacks. I fasted till after 2, when I had to give in and have some sourdough toast. Then DD2 made us a lovely tea of spicy roast veg with quinoa and tahini, lemon and maple syrup dressing. I’d never had either quinoa or tahini before - am I proper middle class now? smile I resisted the choc chip cookies on offer and just had grapes for pudding. I’m feeling virtuous, if slightly peckish - I’ll be off to bed soon with the GN book club choice, away from all temptation!

We were out today so we had soup, which I think must have had a lot of cream in it, plus two seeded rolls. Then DH cooked sausages and mash as I was going out (I did eat some). Since I came in I've eaten a bowl of stewed apple (no sugar).

Ah well, tomorrow is another day.

Jalima1108 Wed 07-Feb-18 22:47:32

I'll join you Maggiemaybe
ie bed and book club choice

Tegan2 Wed 07-Feb-18 22:55:59

I've got a packet of quinoa in my larder which I keep looking at....in fact, I even bought another packet to look at to go with it,,,,

MissAdventure Wed 07-Feb-18 22:59:14

grin Tegan..
I've had 2 crusty rolls with turkey and stuffing in. No butter, but I'm not sure that's going to make a whole lot of difference. Today hasn't been as frugal as it could have been, but still..

Tegan2 Wed 07-Feb-18 23:55:53

I feel healthy just looking at it...

Weight loss this week 1.65kg. I’m well pleased with that.

How about other Frugaleers?

NannyJan53 Thu 08-Feb-18 08:26:58

I have lost 2 lbs, but all this talk of food keeps making me hungry smile

I am following the 16:8 too, so cannot have breakfast till 10.00am! Which is normally porridge with berries. Only want to lose about 5 - 6 Ilb but it is proving hard this time.

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 08:39:44

Yes, NannyJan those last few pounds can be the hardest of all to shift. According to a BMI calculator I also need to lose another 5lb. But we’re getting there ?

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 11:43:06

Remember that 'latent heat of vaporisation' thing that we did in chemistry [or was it physics]. I think weight is like that. You seem to reach a certain weight where the weight suddenly stops coming off for ages.

OldMeg Thu 08-Feb-18 13:49:26

cavewoman less tired this morning and motivated by my weight loss, so tackled those carrots and made a huge pan of carrot and ginger soup. Just had a bowl for lunch and, though I say it myself, it was yummy.

I’ll bear that in mind Tegan ?

Well done on you 2lb NannyJan and that sounds like a very healthy and frugalish breakfast.

Tegan2 Thu 08-Feb-18 16:08:03

Made some miso soup today and really enjoyed it. Had some packets of instant miso that I've had for ages; tried them and liked it. So got a jar of miso from Holland and Barrett with a free coupon I had and mixed it in with a vegetable stock cube, mushrooms and bio yoghurt. Going to make my own vegetable stock to use next time. If I have miso and quinoa in one day will I turn into Gwyneth Paltrow?

MissAdventure Thu 08-Feb-18 16:11:39

I've not only 'fallen off the wagon', I think it has run me over and reversed a couple of times to do a good job of it. blush
Bad day all round, one way and another. Sigh.

cavewoman Thu 08-Feb-18 16:15:18

Well done to the losers!
I.m not weighing until 1st March as I know from past experience that if I haven't lost I'll cheer myself up with chocolate.
And if I HAVE lost, I'll celebrate with chocolate!
In fact I've just decided to abstain until Easter (egg)
Hope it's not late this year.
