A couple of years ago my daughter got engaged and I was determined to lose some weight before the wedding which was less than 6 months later. (I have had a weight problem most of my life and was about to turn 70.) I cut out virtually all processed food. Ate lots of veg and salad, plus lean meat, fish, eggs, cheese, bacon and occasionally sausages (which I love). Ate fresh fruit in place of desserts, and a few plain nuts in place of crisps etc. I didn't have a target weight, but took encouragement from each pound I lost. Ended up losing 3 stone by the wedding and a further 7lbs following the wedding though those extra pounds have slipped back on. I am currently working on removing them again, and hopefully make further progress. I feel generally better than I have done in years and just kick myself that I didn't do something about it much sooner as sadly the skin is not as elastic as it used to be!
