I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

Spot on Merlot.

I might instigate a daily roll call, or perhaps when Panache is back on her feet she could run it for us.

fourormore Tue 25-Sept-18 19:36:16

I would be up for that as I have got very close to 'forgetting' to post blush
How is Panache? Do hope she is progressing well bless her - she was on a very long road.

You’ve got the job Fourormore we all need to keep focused on getting slim and healthy.

Well done Shirley losing weight and going away.

I took my blood pressure at the Doc’s yesterday and for some reason it has shot up (maybe the codeine I had taken the night before was the culprit). Anyway I am seeing the nurse to check BP, cholesterol, weight etc, next month so it is a good incentive to keep going as I am not too far off the upper limit for my height.

Onward and downward Team. ?

Meant to add Panache has written in detail today on Soop’s Kitchen.

Well done Shirley, nice to know you can go away, enjoy yourself and continue to lose weight. Week 8 tomorrow for the deadly weigh in, trembling time, why do I get so nervous?

merlotgran Thu 27-Sept-18 09:57:55

Keep going everyone. I've managed to lose 2lbs in five days even though I've been eating things like pasta that I knocked on the head when I started dieting. It must have been a Whoosh! hmm

Sending Panache best wishes.

I’ve been taking Omprazole for the last week or so for my digestive problems and have put a couple of pounds back on. I read that it can cause bloating and weight gain so I stopped today. Have been fairly active and not eaten anything I shouldn’t so will see if the medication has had an affect.

Billybob4491 Fri 28-Sept-18 06:43:29

Nfk, the medication I am on does promote weight gain, says so in the leaflet, so my weight is coming off slower than I would like! so that could be the reason in your case. Also eating out I find a problem, I check the restaurant menu beforehand, and inform the waitress no sauces, butter etc. but usually my meal is smothered in something unhealthy. (but delicious).

NanKate Fri 28-Sept-18 08:21:50

I too am taking Omprazole to protect my stomach from those nasty steroids. At least we know why our weight loss can be slower than we would like.

oldbatty Fri 28-Sept-18 19:48:28

mmm I wrote a post but it hasnt appeared?

oldbatty Fri 28-Sept-18 20:16:59

Hello folks. I'm going to face the music tomorrow. If I don't do something it'll be half a stone on before Christmas.

Billybob4491 Sat 29-Sept-18 06:31:53

Go for it oldbatty, I seem to have hit a brick wall re weight loss, this is where the going gets tough!

NanKate Sat 29-Sept-18 07:07:09

It’s so easy OldBatty to let the weight creep on and as you know it can affect your mood.

We are a small band of ‘losers’ but it is so worthwhile to wear clothes that used to be tight and to become healthier.

fourormore Sun 30-Sept-18 11:35:29

There is no sense in this weight-loss world and so many of us have been held back by that darned brick wall. confused confused
I wasn't looking forward to my Sunday weigh in today as due to other commitments I haven't made it to gym/swim at all this week but did I do a lot of walking - running errands around town etc. not power walking or what I would consider 'exercising walks'
To my surprise I have lost a pound!
Please folks - don't give up - there are chinks in the wall and if we all keep bashing it will crash in the end!!!
Keep up the good work and together we will succeed! flowers

NanKate Sun 30-Sept-18 16:14:24

Well said Fourormore

merlotgran Sun 30-Sept-18 16:44:07

I'll second that!

Shirleyw Wed 03-Oct-18 19:42:38

Well done for losing a pound four or more .
yes, take the eye off the ball and it soon creeps on.

I lost two and a half pounds this week, one more pound and it will be a stone.....

merlotgran Wed 03-Oct-18 19:47:17

Well done, Shirleyw. I've stalled a bit but I want to have lost two stone by Christmas so I'm on a mission.

Only 4lbs to go.

Billybob4491 Thu 04-Oct-18 06:45:45

Weekly weigh in day tomorrow, only half a pound to go before I reach my first stone! would find it easier to climb the North Face of the Eiger than lose this extra half pound.

NanKate Thu 04-Oct-18 07:53:07

Absolutely BillyB.

Overthehills Sun 07-Oct-18 12:08:28

I’m ashamed to say that I fell off the wagon completely and have put on the weight that I lost with the encouragement of this group. I tried to convince myself that I don’t mind the extra weight I’m carrying but the truth is that I can’t wear the clothes I’d like to and I’m sure it’s not healthy. In many ways I’m very strong willed (gave up smoking with absolutely no problem) but as far as food is concerned I’m hopeless. I’m going to weigh myself today and climb back on the wagon. Please wish me luck.

Billybob4491 Sun 07-Oct-18 17:12:14

Good luck I am sure you are not "overthehills" as your name suggests!

NanKate Sun 07-Oct-18 17:17:06

Overthehills thanks for your honesty. Yes get back on the wagon and keep going. It will be worth it.

Doris19 Sun 07-Oct-18 17:24:37

How are we supposed to keep up with all the advice on a healthy weight! I find it really hard keep weight off It goes on much easier I'm 5 foot 3 inches and weight 10 stones According to the charts I'm overweight!
