I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

Since was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my hbaic has come down 1 point for every 1lb and a half of weight I have lost. So if I lose another 6 lbs I should be in the normal range. Can I do it before Christmas? Will try

fourormore Sun 18-Nov-18 09:53:34

Good luck Loopyloo really hope you can do it!
Sunday weigh-in shows the same as last week which I am happy with as it's not been a brilliant week, but it does seem that I am on a plateau once again?
At least I remain the same - we are away for a few days this week meeting friends pre-Christmas etc. so the eating may be a bit dodgy? I will do my best and keep everything crossed!
Good luck fellow strugglers!

Fourormore - hope you have an enjoyable time, am off to Christmas markets next Saturday but will not be tempted to indulge (I hope!)

NanKate Fri 23-Nov-18 07:30:55

Off for my first MOT at doctors today and suspect they will say I am over weight at 10 stone 2lbs and 5 foot 2 ins. I should be at the most 9 stone 10 lbs. whether it will cut the mustard when I say ‘this was my weight when I got married 47 years ago’ I don’t know. All my friends have been told they are over weight when going for their MOTs. Will report back later.

Billybob4491 Fri 23-Nov-18 08:21:32

Hope all goes well for you Nankate, you are only a few pounds over, don't worry about it. Off to dreaded weigh in today, why do I always feel like a naughty schoolgirl when I step on the scales!

NanKate Fri 23-Nov-18 19:39:52

Yes Billy all went well and to my surprise I wasn’t challenged on my weight. The problem for me is stopping the pounds creeping on.

Well folks we're back from our little jaunt and I am dreading weigh-in tomorrow morning sad
We had a lovely break. I ate sensibly at the main meal each day but there was also bread involved, as in beautiful garlic bread etc. which I really did enjoy blush I really mean beautiful garlic bread!
I generally avoid bread as it always tends to show at 'weigh-ins' so fingers crossed that there won't be too much damage tomorrow. I'm expecting it though sad

fourormore Sat 24-Nov-18 12:30:29

Oh I forgot to mention the lovely breakfasts that I would never had eaten at home blush
Doesn't look hopefully does it!!!

Epic fail in the weight loss department. My aim now is not to be absolutely stupid in the next few weeks and gain, followed by January misery and beating up of self.

fourormore Sat 24-Nov-18 16:09:56

Oh poor Batty - shall we both put this week behind us and start again on Monday?
I will still weigh-in tomorrow morning but don't hold out any hope of even staying the same so share the same aim as you!
I must admit I have been thinking of 'taking a break' until after Christmas as I am certainly on a plateau at the moment. I will stick to Sunday morning weigh-in though, just in case my graph shoots off the top of my laptop and across the room grin

oldbatty Sat 24-Nov-18 16:55:37

to be fair, fourormore, its a lot more than a week I need to put behind me.

If I can manage to eat like a normal person in the next few weeks , that will do for now.

Grandmama Sat 24-Nov-18 18:51:31

Haven't been on here for ages . . . totally fell off the wagon, not for the first time. Got really fed up and down so gorged on choccy biccies which didn't cheer me up at all, made me even more 'down' the next day and cross with myself angry.
I think I might be climbing back on now, skirts too tight and no need for a safety pin on the waistband of my trousers because no slack to take up. Target: half a stone by Christmas (I've managed this in the past). I have a skirt lined up for Christmas day so determined to get into it.

NanKate Sat 24-Nov-18 19:30:05

Keep going folks.

Fourormore have you considered taking a day of a week off to have what you want. If you take a break for 5 or 6 weeks quite a few pounds could easily slip on and you will be back where you started. This is just a suggestion it is totally up to you. You will always be welcome to return.

fourormore Sat 24-Nov-18 20:40:18

Thanks for your encouragement NanKate - I do in fact take Sunday 'off' each week - I call it 'Sin-day' when, although I don't gorge myself, I do allow myself a sweet (if we are out to lunch - at home I don't bother!) and I also have chocolate in the evening!
I won't disappear off the radar I promise - I will continue to monitor at my Sunday weekly weigh-in and record it on my chart but, at one stage, I was getting obsessed and that's no good for any of us.
I am lucky in many ways in that I am not desperately overweight - if you believe the BMI charts I am about 2 stone too heavy but just a stone would make me happy. The trouble is, that it is always that last stone that is the hardest to lose isn't it sad I have lost 12lbs though since April so going in the right direction! It is definitely a slow but sure process!
Will report in tomorrow morning! flowersand thanks to you and everyone!

fourormore Sun 25-Nov-18 10:51:29

Not as bad as it could have been hmm
I have put on 2lbs which was very expected. With three nights B&B it would have been rude not to have partaken of the full English wouldn't it hmm
We both ate more of the 'wrong' food than was good for us so now I am paying for it!
Will make the effort this coming week to get rid of the added 2lbs and as long as I can stay level will try not to go silly over the Christmas period hmm

merlotgran Sun 25-Nov-18 11:10:25

I'm managing to maintain my weight loss of 2 stone 4lbs (so far) but I'm having to be very strict with myself. I'm lucky not to have a sweet tooth and just snack on a banana if I get hungry whereas DH is always mooching around looking for biscuits. There aren't any!!

I've had to by a couple of new bras having stood up straight after weeding the garden and discovering my bra dangling round my neck. shock grin
The weird thing is that although I've lost two inches in measurement around my rib cage, the cup size has actually gone UP so I've gone from a 40C to a 38D hmm

DH will be watching the grand prix at lunchtime so I have no excuse not to take the dogs for a long walk. All I need is the motivation!!

Onwards and staywhereIamwards if not downwards.

I was let off weigh in last week as it was 60th celebration....for the week lol.....was thinking of thousand excuses not to go back to SW.....I did go and get weighed in the end, as was sure I put on half a stone but I was well surprised, gained half a pound......I was very happy.....came away with a couple new cook books too lol..

Happy eating guys

Billybob4491 Fri 30-Nov-18 06:37:28

Shirley - you must have felt you had won the lottery! The SW Take 5 cookbook has become my new bible, ideal for me as I am not a natural cook but can manage the recipes.

Shirleyw Fri 30-Nov-18 14:20:30

|Lol Billybob, yes i did, came away with a big smile on my face.....yes, I have that book, I like it, nice sometimes not to have a list of ingredients as long as your arm...

NanKate Fri 30-Nov-18 14:44:08

Pleased to see a few of us are will together in the Onward and downward club. I will weigh myself when back home early next week. I am still eating carefully and pleased the nurse at the Doc’s was satisfied with my weight loss.

fourormore Sun 02-Dec-18 12:51:26

Sunday weigh-in could have been worse but could have been better! Lost 0.4 of a pound but as I am not really concentrating I am ok with that. Had several days 'indoors' this week so activity levels down unless wrapping loads of Chrstmas pressies burns calories haha!
Will do better next week but as long as I stay in the same area I am happy. Good luck everyone else!

merlotgran Sun 02-Dec-18 12:58:56

I MUST quell my inner 'human dustbin'. We have a houseful this weekend and I just know that the fridge will be full of leftovers tomorrow and I hate waste. hmm

Shirleyw Wed 05-Dec-18 18:00:45

Lost 2 lb this week, well pleased with that...next week will be a struggle as out for two evening meals at the weekend ...happy weigh in guys.....

NanKate Thu 06-Dec-18 08:22:24

I am happy to report I have lost three quarters of a pound. I am very slow at losing weight but at least it is going down ?

I no longer count calories but I virtually know what I can and can’t eat. I think giving up eating all the little added extras I used to consume has made all the difference.

Keep going folks. Onwards and downwards.

NanKate Thu 06-Dec-18 08:23:23

Well done Shirley 2 lbs is a lot in my book.
