I’m a pear !

I have returned to my own healthy eating plan as I need to lose a stone. I am pear shaped with a small bust, reasonable waist and overlarge hips.

On reading the ever sensible Dr Scurr in the DM this morning I discovered a healthy waist size is 31 ins for women and 37 ins for men. I rather smugly measured myself expecting a pat on the back only to find I am 5 ins over the recommended size ?

Onward and upward or preferably downward.

It’s still down ? Shirley. ?

GrannyIris5 Wed 27-Feb-19 19:49:53

How many inches though?

Shirleyw Wed 27-Feb-19 20:11:56

Yes, this is true nankate.....I can't complain.....
Haven't measured myself granny, clothes do feel loose ????????

Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. Felt really down with various cruddy things going on in my family and then the fibro flare up, but now feel much better, so thanks again.

Am very happy after weighing myself today. I have said before it depends on where I put the scales as to what my weight is - old Victorian house with aged dodgy floors - but since being weighed by the GP on Jan 17th I've lost either !st !lb, 1st 2lb or 1st 4lb. I'm going with 1st 4lbs!!!

Seems like I've been dieting forever but actually its not that long and still a long way to go. Aiming for another 2st 6lbs and I'll still be fatty fat fat but I'm a realist! I'll report what I am in about month so keep everything crossed for me please smile

All the best to everyone smile

I always feel encouraged to stick to eating plan whenever I visit this post, weight goes up and down, like most folk I suppose.

We are a small band of losers Old and have stuck together for 10 months. We have a goal of getting slimmer and fitter, sometimes we win sometimes we don’t but at least we keep going.

My own take on losing weight is that I am on a healthy eating plan, most of the time, and this is for life. A diet usually is for a set amount of time. We all have to choose our own path and there are no rules or regulations on this thread.

Onward and downward ?

Oldandverygrey Fri 01-Mar-19 16:28:25

I am with SW Nankate, it works for me (sort of), but am always interested in other people's approach to diet etc., (just call me plain nosey)!

fourormore Sun 03-Mar-19 10:39:40

Stayed the same this morning so I am ok with that.
I am losing it slowly (in more than one way haha!!!) grin
Good luck to everyone as we start another week.

NSV, tried a smaller 18 (why do M & S vary) and managed to do up the button. Zip no, try again in a couple of weeks. At least I can get them on/up with a wiggle or three ?

NanKate Sun 03-Mar-19 13:17:47

Good idea GrannyI it’s great when suddenly you realise your clothes are getting looser.

I was trying on a jacket in Laura Ashley yesterday when the mature (experienced) assistant came up to me and said ‘you’re trying on the wrong size you need a size smaller’! I realised then out of habit I went for my old size not really believing I could fit a smaller size. I bought the smaller size ?

GrannyIris5 Sun 03-Mar-19 15:30:59

Ooh NanKate how lovely. Such a confidence boost.

Shirleyw Mon 04-Mar-19 03:39:58

That was good nankate, bet you were well happy with that comment!....did you buy the jacket??

NanKate Mon 04-Mar-19 07:17:42

Yes I did buy the jacket. It’s a soft jersey material in blue, just right for the Spring. DH bought me a lovely brooch recently which will go nicely on the lapel.

NanKate Mon 04-Mar-19 07:19:09

It had 30% off too ?

Shirleyw Wed 06-Mar-19 03:59:28

Oh fab nankate. sounds lovely.

Got weighin later...am not looking forward to it as went out for a full blown meal Sunday and made chocolate fondants yesterday, wanted to see if it melts in the middle....and it did...lovely it was too...so, I will face the music later......

Don't worry about it Shirley there is always next week, and you have to live a little!

GrannyIris5 Wed 06-Mar-19 09:45:51

It’s a walk not a run

Shirleyw Wed 06-Mar-19 18:40:21

Oh well, up 2 and a half pounds lol, I thought it would of been nearing 4 so can't complain...all my own doing. Hope to have that off by next week.

GrannyIris5 Wed 06-Mar-19 20:26:31

Water weight Shirleyw, too many hot drinks trying to keep warm.

fourormore Wed 06-Mar-19 20:27:37

Don't be disheartened Shirley
The reason I weigh every Sunday morning is that I then have my Sunday lunch (and other treats ALL on that day) but I don't freak out about the calories.
Having my 'Sinday' gives me a break from dieting, but if I 'behave' from Mon-Sat inclusive I am usually ok by the time 'weigh-in' comes around again and find that I can focus more through the week if I have Sinday to look forward to!
Sundays are not convenient though for those going to weigh-in at SW meetings etc. I appreciate that.
You know why you gained weight so don't worry about having this blip - put it behind you now and start again. Tomorrow is another day!
Good luck! flowers

Shirleyw Wed 06-Mar-19 20:33:43

Thanks guys....have a good week

fourormore Sun 10-Mar-19 10:15:55

Little blip this week which I expected as been manic with grabbed lunches etc. so up a pound. However, as I know why, I am fine with that.
This coming week doesn't look promising as it's DH bday treat - short break with DBB - so always eat more at times like that. I will be aware though and whatever happens this coming week I will be back on track next weekend!
Good luck everyone as we start another week flowers

Enjoy yourselves, life is too short. Slow and steady, moderation is the key.
