On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.

However the 2 Gransnetters who have stayed the course from the beginning are Fourormore and Shirleyw who have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow, most of the time ?, and kept up our spirits.

We now have some other excellent new regulars who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all.

Do join us the rules are simple.

Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.

Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.

So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my mantra.

You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.

Please join us at this difficult time in all our lives with the Pandemic.

So Onward and Downward girls ??

Good morning all?. Well so far this morning sunshine coming through the window and theres a hint of blue skies?.
I'm glad you are feeling better Whiff, I know some people have quite unpleasant reactions to AZ one. It's good that GP on board with UTI and it does feel as though services are gradually reappearing but with delays or in a different format. My GP surgery continues with blood tests, phone consultations where possible etc. My chiropodist hasnt re started yet but I imagine that may be hard to do in a covid safe way.
It's quite funny Whiff, when you said pavers I somehow thought you meant the shoe shop?. Hopefully the project is complete now! I also hope the weather is kind enough so you can try your new boots out?. I love how you got your username ♥️. I think the greatest tribute to those we have lost is the memories that make us smile or remember that love.
I hope you are enjoying your sewing Shirleyw ?. My mum was brilliant at sewing and made clothes etc. She was also a keen gardener,as was my father. Both those skills skipped a generation! My eldest daughter is very keen and excellent at both! Sewing I avoid as much as possible although can do the basics. I impressed myself by hand sewing a zip on an ipad cover I knitted my daughter and it looked ok. Gardening! I appreciate a good garden and dream of an old fashioned cottage garden ♥️. That's as far as it gets! I have a reasonably small garden that was former heathland. It's mainly shrubs and bushes. Its something I find a chore, probably because I'm not very good at it! Years ago my friends son had a gardening business. In four hours he could make it look immaculate. I genuinely could spend the day out there and it would look tidier but not that brilliant?. Sadly ,for me,he changed jobs. I maintain the garden but quite grudgingly. Initially I did try and find a replacement but noone as good. I have decided that now I am working FT I may indeed look for a gardener again. The bushes need a good trim and I can only reach so high. I'm also aware that my time now is more limited and I dont want to spend it doing something that gives me so little pleasure. If someone can give it a thorough trim I'm happy to maintain!
Saturday morning and the weekend stretches ahead. It's quite strange for me as havent worked 9-5 since 1995! I have a few chores but may make a start on the throw for my youngest daughter!
It's quite strange at the moment. Obviously all the usual weekend activities are on hold. There have been a few articles in the press about where we were this time last year. I remember how ominous it felt when Boris announced lockdown. I know my position may be different to others in that until this year I continued to self isolate apart from garden visits and trip to hairdressers! The new normal is something I'm only just really getting accustomed to! I had a diabetic eye test on Wednesday and made most of opportunity to post some items to my daughter and pop into Superdrug for hair grips. ! First time in decades no post office queue?. I'm still struck by how surreal everything is. On other hand lockdown feels so like the norm I occasionally feel surprised when something reminds me of it!
Whiff you have embraced and enjoy technology. I certainly feel I have taken it to a new level. It's only when I look at the training I have had and how my virtual workplace runs that I step back occasionally and go WOW. It's amazing how we adapt!
I am pleased to say I have lost 1 and a quarter pounds. I have been much more mindful. It did also help I had a bit of a toothache! My supermarket delivery is due this afternoon. I am allowing myself a final treat of a cream cake! Other than that unless I fancy munching on cat treats there is nothing in the house to distract me from my kick start on Monday!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend ??xxx

Good morning all, it’s a lovely day here so far, although I think it’ll be cold. I’ve slipped back into my usual early waking since returning to school full time this week so feel like I’ve been up for hours. It was good to have all the children back this week, but it’s been a tough week for both them and us as their teachers. Many children have done no learning at home and unfortunately it shows!

On the weigh in front it’s been a week of no change, but I’m ok with that I think. I’ve got just over a stone to go to reach my target and I recognise that this stone will be the hardest. I’m also recognising that I desperately need to do some shopping, I’ve struggled to find work trousers to stay up this week, so the exercise I’m doing is obviously helping with my shape.

I was hoping to meet a friend for a coffee in the park on Friday afternoon but unfortunately it rained and we had to cancel. We’re keeping everything crossed for next Friday.

I’ve also had my refund for our cancelled river cruise that we’d booked for our silver wedding in early April. Any suggestions for how we might celebrate the day will be gratefully received. A picnic on the beach might be a bit ambitious, Skegness is very bracing at this time of the year! We’re neither of us drinkers either, so don’t fancy joining the clamour of a pub beer garden.

I’ve been spoiled today by my daughter with a lovely Orchid and some amazing Elemis bath treats. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you who fulfil that role in any way.

Have a good week ❤️

Whiff Sun 14-Mar-21 09:20:41

Dorset brilliant weight lose. You seem so much happier and settled since starting your new job. You seemed so unsettled before as you were battling your old work place. It is showing in your weight loss how happier you are.

Pavers will be back next week . Like any job the grown work takes time. They have put down good foundations . We had 2 days of heavy rain but they worked on. No sooner than they dug the trenches for the soak ways they filled with water. The paving is down at the back of the garage and started down the side. Enjoy your cream cake yum.

Sarah that is sad some children haven't been learning at home. I made a point of teaching my 2 to read and write before they started school. It's what my mom and dad did for my brother and me. Education is so important. I love learning new things still. For your silver wedding anniversary why don't you just have a romance meal for the two of you at home. And have a party later on the year when your family and friends can all get together. That way it spreads the celebration out. Well done staying the same.

Mr William Powers came to stay this week and only went over a maximum of 10 calories a couple of days. But was disappointed to find I had put on quarter of pound. He's booked in for another week I am determined he is here to stay so hopefully a loss next week.

My daughter and family are popping round this morning. As I hadn't got anything in . Made a batch of cheese scones before breakfast. They will be going home with them.

Have a great day whatever you are doing . ??

fourormore Sun 14-Mar-21 09:30:06

How lovely to read so many encouraging messages to each other on this thread! Well done everyone, not only on weight matters (even the 'gains' are good for us to acknowledge as it proves we are 'aware') but also on adapting to 'work' and all the various other changes we've experienced.

I wasn't expecting another good drop this week - last week was an excellent start to my new-found determination but DH had his birthday midweek and still being under house arrest we couldn't go out so had a home delivery Chinese hmmhmmhmm Must admit it was lovely and a real treat which we both needed but I stayed firm for the rest of the week and to my huge surprise lost a pound - just the one - but that'll do nicely.

Good luck fellow strugglers - we will all stay firm together!

Happy Mothering Sunday to all lucky enough to have AC who know what day it is! Nothing so far from my three but then DH never had even a card for his birthday - it seems that nowadays a quick text or phone call will do. So sad - a card is tangible and can be picked up and re-read but that's life in 2021 !!!!

However I can't help but feel that the offspring of my boys will have got cards for their mothers but the grandmas don't seem to be important enough to the AC. Very sad as even a cheap card dropping through the letterbox would be so appreciated - even garages sell cards so no excuses!
flowersflowersflowers to all of us !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whiff Sun 14-Mar-21 11:53:44

Four excellent weight loss. My daughter was helping out at Covid clinic yesterday she does it every 4 weeks there was a spare vaccine so asked her if she had it yet. Said no because she is only 37 and will wait. They said they would give it her as everyone else there had already had the first dose. So I wasn't surprised to get a phone call after 10 saying she was in bed . I didn't expect them to come as I expected her to have some side effects. She said she feels worse than she did when she had Covid. Told her she might have some other side effects tomorrow. I will be see her on Tuesday anyway as the baby is having his next lot of jabs and its nannie play time with her eldest. I am a lucky nannie because always had mother's and nannie cards on mother's day. This year it's only off my daughter and grandson's don't suppose my son has given me a second thought. His loss.

Spoke to my brother luckily both him and my sister in law are feeling better today after their jabs on Thursday.

Cheese scones are in the freezer. My daughter can take them with her on Tuesday. Didn't want the temptation.

Enjoy your day whatever you are up to. ?

Dorsetcupcake61 Sun 14-Mar-21 17:16:15

Hi Ladies?. Sarahmob I hope you get the trouser situation sorted before they get much bigger -could be embarrassing ?. I always think trousers can be tricky if have to buy without trying on- they vary so much!
Maybe for your wedding anniversary you could revisit the day so to speak. Maybe watch a film that was in the cinema at the time, listen to music that was in the charts that week ,google the headlines etc? You could maybe recreate the meal you had on the day? I dont know if you live in same area but maybe revisit venues of the day? It's a shame about the river cruise. Where were you going to?
It's a shame your daughter wasnt able to visit Whiff?. Thankfully you can see them Tuesday and i think plans being changed is the new normal ?. Sometimes I do feel Mothers Day is a little like valentine's day,its what happens on the other 364 days that really matters.im sure your sons love you both dearly Fourormore. I think for the younger generation a text or WhatsApp message is viewed as the norm. Sadly physical cards are less popular although there is a new tendency for the personal touch. I know my daughter always organises her husbands families cards etc. All families are different I suppose. As my parents were very involved in the girls upbringing Mothers day was automatically a joint celebration. She has carried this on. I remember a while ago there was a grandparents day,I think it was in September but it never really took off!
Yes,Whiff I'm certainly less stressed. Work made a massive difference. The manager I was having so much difficulty with was sacked for bullying! The civil service is another world. It's as simple as being treated as a human being whose life and health is valued which certainly wasnt case in private sector health and social care. The disparity between the two is truly shocking when you experience it first hand. It's also nice to have financial security even though its potentially only for a year.
It's been a strange year, something we may often say but sometimes the reality of which may not be fully apparent for some just yet. I know there are other threads on here about bucket lists and how a year when life has pretty much been on pause has changed our outlook. I know in todays Guardian there are a couple of articles about how people may struggle on some level with the "opening up" of society. For me the first vaccination was also a game changer. I feel less vulnerable and more content. Both my daughters and I seem to feel as though we are emerging from hibernation.! Althogh I always use moisturiser that's been it. I love make up but have barely used it in the past year! I've always been showered and dressed but that was it.! It could be because its Spring, it could be because we are emerging from survival mode but pampering feels needed! I decided to put make up on today and tbh it was quite a strange experience! It was me,but wasnt the me of a year ago.! My hair is quite long(comparitively) and it's natural colour which to be honest is a drab mousey brown. I think my skin tone has changed,my face is definitely less defined and the added weight has added another chin. I've always been very envious of larger ladies who manager to have a slim face! I didnt feel negative, more curious as though really looking at myself for the first time in nearly a year and thinking yes,I've changed. Hope that makes sense!
I was lucky today my youngest daughter arrived with a bacon nap and a latte. She also bought a card and 6 home made scones, raspberries and strawberries plus some chocolates! Oh and a nice body lotion. Not ideal when about to start a strict diet regime when ?. Still I had one scone and the fruit which was divine, the rest can be frozen and used as occasional treat?. Flowers arrived from eldest plus Grace Dents book and we had a lovely video call. All in all a lovely day?.

Shirleyw Mon 15-Mar-21 03:06:49

I m not surprised but 2 and a quarter up, that will come off this next 7 days.
Well done on the losses...

Rick Stein does a 'stein at home' service....that may be an idea for your silver wedding sarahmob if your both foodies....it does look good, was thinking that for our anniversary treat on March 24th as we can't go out to eat in a nice restaurant at the moment.

Winds have died down a bit. looking forward to the warmer weather.

Whiff Tue 16-Mar-21 04:20:04

Shirley it's a blip. Love your positivity. I am a positive person as well. But it's being stretched to its limit. Started another kidney infection last evening. Because it was near surgery closing time the doctor was on a house call so thankfully could call the walk in centre. I thought it was just a UTI but because my ankles and lower leg had swollen the nurse practitioner said would treat it as a kidney infection. So prescribed the right antibiotic and dosage. My daughter felt better and went and got my tablets for me and brought me some daffodils. Asda pharmacy is open until 11 pm. To fit in one every 8 hours need to take one at 5am. Been up to the loo that many times not worth trying to get back to sleep. Had to put heating on at 1 . Usually don't have it on over night.
Having blood test on Monday hopefully my referral to see the urologist will come through soon. Image it won't be for a couple of months though.

On the bright side my pavers are working like demons and it's looking lovely. They got the paths all flat with all the hard core they put down. Makes it safer for me and my grandson's. They baby will be crawling by summer.

My daughter and grandson's will be here this morning. The oldest will cheer me up and feel ok enough I can chase him around. Can have a nap this afternoon. Sainsbury's delivery today as well so he will help me put it away. His brother having his 16 week jabs. Have to say his age in months now. Can't get how he has grown .

You mentioning Rick Stein always wanted to go too one of his restaurants in Padstow. It was on our list of things to do . But will do it myself one year. My husband loved to sea fish. Once on holiday in Ireland he and our son caught 16 mackerel within minutes. We gave half to the farmer who's cottage we where renting and and had mackerel for breakfast for a few days. That's another thing I want to do. Have a holiday on the west coast of Ireland. Be a city break as I don't drive. First have to wait until I get my pension and save up. It's good to have plans.

Dorset glad you are so happy and sounds as if you had a lovely mother's day.

NanKate hope you are feeling better .

Have a good day everyone. ?

Dorsetcupcake61 Tue 16-Mar-21 17:53:37

Hi Whiff,my heart sank when saw you had another infection ?. Thank goodness at least you managed to start antibiotics. Hopefully appointment be start of solving problem?.
Your daffodils sound lovely?. Hopefully you spent some lovely time with your grandson and are getting some rest now.
A break in Ireland sounds lovely?. Sending hugsxx

Whiff Wed 17-Mar-21 05:29:03

Thank you Dorset. At least I caught it early so feeling better this morning. Because I have to have a tablet every 8 hours I have my first one at 5am . That way I can leave at hour before I have to take my usual tablets. My daughter took my sample in so that was being sent to the lab. Blood test next week. I know it will be a few months before I see the urologist but at least I will see them.

Had a lovely time with my daughter and grandson's. The eldest wanted to know everything the pavers where doing and loved watching the concrete mixer. Even put the teabags and sugar in their tea then shouted them . They are really lovely men and they talked to him like an adult and explained what they were doing. The back will be finish this morning only few little touches and then they can carry on with the front. I am overjoyed with what they have done. Will post photo once done. It's silly really being so happy about paving.

The little one didn't make a fuss having his jabs. And gave the nurse a big smile. She wished more where like him as she had had a few screamers before him. Last week we weight him using my scales. My daughter weighed herself then past him to her. 16lbs I measured him 27" . He's a bit bigger than his brother was at that age. Already started to rock side to side.

My daffodils are fully open . Had my mother's Day cards and gifts yesterday . I am a mad cross stitcher. Love the pottery throw down. So they brought me an air dried clay kit. 2 lots of clay all the tools, paint and sealant. Going to have a go the weekend. And a heat wrap you put in the microwave. It's lovely fur on one side and fabric with bees on. Perfect to easy my joints when the pain flares.

My new rose arrived yesterday Thomas a Becket. Had a 15% off voucher from David Austin. Had Gertrude Jekyll last year. Can't wait to be able to get in the garden. My pavers are going to put my green house up for me. I am the queen of add on jobs. Just say add it to the bill. All the tradesmen have never refused me . Even if the job is outside what they usually do.

You can tell it's early I ramble on. Have a good day pears and hopefully will have sun again.

Dorsetcupcake61 Fri 19-Mar-21 08:09:13

I hope you are continuing to feel better Whiff?. I remember the last course of antibiotics I had ,drove me mad all that one hour before etc?.
Your grandsons sound adorable. The eldest reminds me of my eldest grandson who is 5. For mothers day he drew a picture of how he saw my next birthday, there was a full fridge and an awful lot of cake?.
I'm staying very on track this week and it seems to be working ?. A light breakfast,2 100 cal snacks ,a slimfast and low calorie meal. I'm viewing it as a kickstarter. I'm very conscious it's very processed as regards to meals but after a day over a hot lap top and combined with my boredom of anything I have cooked its suitable for moment.
I had my phone appointment with GP on Tuesday after blood tests and my liver is a bit more fatty than previously. That spurred me into action like nothing else.! I look back at what I was eating last summer and although it was interspersed with lighter options there was an awful lot of home baking! Quite cross with myself that have put myself in position where a stone crept on but ready to do battle?. Another element is being office ready. WFH comforting in that anonymous. First impressions count! Hope everyone having a good week?

Whiff Sat 20-Mar-21 05:18:56

Dorset I am feeling a lot better . I caught it earlier so only was on pain for 2 days. I have to have 3 tablets a day 8 hours apart luckily don't have to take them with food. But have to have the 1st at 5am, 1pm and 9pm. If I wake like this morning just after 4 it's not worth me going back to sleep. The main thing this week is tiredness. Had a letter confirming the referral to the urologist if I don't hear by 30th I have to phone them. Blood tests on Monday.

My paving will all be finished on Monday. Just finishing touches and cleaning. It's ridiculous I know but I am so happy with the job they have done . It's beautiful totally flat with the soak ways so no more flooded garden. My green house will be erected the following week as they have a massive job on next week. Next door had her front garden taken up and brick paving it's not even flat it's all lumps and bumps. I image she went will the cheapest she could find. She had the shower room redone. But instead of tiles on walls and floors she had this sheet fake tiles on the walls and cheap flooring. I didn't ask she, asked me what I was having then told me what she had done . Mine will last me out.

I see Dorset is one of the places they are rolling out this faster broadband. Will you be able to have it?

Hope everyone is well . Spring is differently on the way.

I did my census yesterday. I thought it had to be done tomorrow but if your not having over night visitors and your household is the same you can do it before. Very easy on line.

Stay safe ?

Sarahmob Sun 21-Mar-21 07:20:09

Good morning all,
It’s been good to catch up on all of your news. Whiff, I’m sorry to hear of another infection and it’s good that you caught it early. Let’s hope it won’t be too long before you get an appointment with the specialist.
The first lockdown didn’t do me any favours either Dorset, although it was adding to an issue that had been a long time in the making. That’s my main concern now, that once I’ve reached where I want to be regarding my weight it’s going to be maintaining that level that will be the problem.
I can’t say I’ve found it hard or been hungry while I’ve been losing weight, but it’s the limiting of food that’s been a problem. I love cake and chocolate and cheese (why do they all begin with C? ? and know that I can’t put those things back into my diet without serious consequences. So much of dieting is going on in your brain it’s crazy.
I’ve managed to lose 3/4 of a pound this week which is ok, although after last weeks static result had hoped for a little more. But a loss is a loss!
I’ve let my exercise slip a bit too, being back in the classroom on a more regular basis has impacted on my available time in a big way. I’ll have to find a bit more discipline there I think.
Wishing you all a good week ?

Dorsetcupcake61 Sun 21-Mar-21 09:02:30

Hi All?. Well another Sunday already! I think today is supposed to be the first official day of Spring, although still a bit chilly! I dont know about anyone else but I think for the first time ever I'm looking forward to the clocks going forward! I normally am a total Autumn /Winter person and love the cosiness of it all. This year I have relished the increase in daylight and really dislike how dark it is at 7.30pm,most nights I have to stop myself going to bed at 8pm!
I'm a terrible gardener Whiff but some of my earliest memories are of a neighbours greenhouse when I was a very small child. Even now I can smell and feel the warmth and taste the tomatoes she grew! Im with Virgin Media who keep telling me I have updated Broadband which is the best/fastest. Tbh I never really have experienced a problem other than the occasional outages Virgin have. It may help I'm the sole user of course!
Well done on the loss Sarah?. If you are very close to goal it will get harder. I know Weight Watchers used to slightly reduce daily points at each 2 stone lost. Maintenance is often said to be harder than the diet itself which ever schedule you follow. Sadly it's more common than not for people who have lost even very large amounts of weight to put it all back on plus some?. It's one of the reasons slimming clubs make so much money and are a bit of a revolving door.
Our weight is such a complex combination of psychological, physical and biological factors. There is definitely more information now about the biological/ genetic aspect. Everything from gut bacteria to how your brain recognises you are full have an impact. Our relationship with food can relate to our upbringing and concepts of treats and comfort.etc. Being delivered by C.Section can affect how your body acquires weight. Looking at family members can be illuminating ,the last family gathering I was at the build of my mothers family was undeniably mine only I lacked their height!
Probably the most daunting evidence I saw was a few years ago. Scientists followed the journey of a winner of the Biggest Loser. Obviously they had lost a tremendous amount of weight. The scientists followed and measured what happened afterwards. In a nutshell however much this person exercised and however healthy their diet their body was fighting to get them back to a certain weight! Years of yo yo dieting work in a similar way.
So it is a constant battle. It is psychological but i think also we have to take into consideration the effects of genetics. Interestingly one of my best friends struggles to get above a size 8. Watching her was quite helpful. She is someone who has a lot of nervous energy. She can demolish a huge portion of food but she rarely snacks and that may be her only meal of the day. Grabbing a biscuit or chocolate bar isnt her. Occasionally she will buy a small bag of maltesers and keep them in the fridge and maybe have one a day. Shes not being restrictive or disciplined its just not in her head to eat the whole bag at once!
I must admit there have been endless times when I have so envied those for whom their weight or what they eat is just not an issue, but i expect they may have their own struggles.
So,maintenance is the hard bit. The solutions appear to be gradually adding to diet until weight is stable. The biggest pitfall is going back to old habits. I had another friend who in her 20s successfully lost over four stone. She was very rigorous in sticking to her diet but eventually it was a case of she put it back on plus some. I remember her remarking at the time that because she was slim she felt she could eat all the things she had missed. The one person I have known who has kept it off had a firm policy of if she put on half a stone she got it off immediately.
It's often said that a diet has to be viewed as a lifestyle change that is permanent, it has to be a whole new way of looking at what you eat and why you eat it. I've learned some valuable and hard lessons on the way but i think it will always be a struggle.
The impact of lockdown and the pandemic psychologically blew my diet and I'm sure many others out of the water. Even the knowledge that obesity almost certainly would make Covid fatal wasnt enough to completely shock me into tough action.
Fortunately the time is right for me at the moment. After a year of using it as a prop I'm bored with it. I think that for me is the key,I'm not craving treats in any form. My shopping contains none,i know myself to well. If i feel stressed i know that one biscuit will never be enough!
I think all we can do is recognise our flash points but most of all be realistic and kind to ourselves.
This week i have lost 3.5 pounds. I'm pleased with that and have been determined to improve not only my health but self confidence.
Good luck ladies?xxx

fourormore Sun 21-Mar-21 09:31:08

Well done Dorset 3.5lb is wonderful. My scales were playing silly bees this morning - they flashed and flashed, then stopped at -1lb but then jumped forward and stayed put. I did try again but that little jump forward means I've lost 0.8 not a pound but it is a loss and I am feeling more enthusiastic now. Even a tiny loss or staying the same is fine as long as it continues and I don't give up.
Glad you are feeling better Whiff and Sarah hang on in there - you have been losing so well regularly so hang on in there!
Good luck everyone - keep up the good work!!! flowersflowers

Whiff Sun 21-Mar-21 09:57:14

Well done Sarah and Dorset with your losses. Will has been with me all week. Lost quarter of pound which I am happy with. As my plan to start walking everyday was put on hold with kidney infection and having the paving done. They will finish tomorrow and clean all down. My daughter and grandson taking me for a blood test in the morning. Hoping it shows something is wrong. Last of the antibiotics tomorrow. Because of spacing them apart plus fitting in my usual tablets has taken is toll on me. I am so tired.

Dorset very interesting about the psychology involved with weight loss. My husband could eat anything and stayed the same weight. I put it down to him having a fast metabolism and always being on the go. It was so unfair he would have huge meals if I did that put on pounds. But would give anything to have him back fit and healthy.

What I love about this thread pears are lovely and never catty or un kind.
On the house and home forum a woman put about whether or not to replace the elastic in fitted sheets or buy new. I said supermarkets etc sell good quality ones at reasonable prices. One woman threw my words back at me accused me of not being eco friendly. I hate that when some throws your words back at you just to be un kind. Don't mind being quoted if what I have said helps someone.
Why are some people like that. If you can't say something nice keep you mouth shut. Anyway why would any one replace the elastic in fitted sheets they must have a lot of time on their hands also wonder if she patches worn towels, knickers etc.

Have a good week everyone . ?

Whiff Sun 21-Mar-21 11:02:24

Four it's a loss and that what counts. When I get on my scales I stand up straight count to 10 then look. My grandson is funny everytime he's here it's likes to weight himself. He asked me what they where ages a ago so told him. His weight doesn't mean anything to him just think he likes to see the numbers move then flash and stay still.

Sarahmob Sun 21-Mar-21 12:28:06

Wow Dorset that Maltesers thing really blew my mind. I can’t have a bag of them opened without finishing the whole bag (or box!) ? I wish my brain was wired to work like that. Congratulations on your losses everyone.

CocoPops Sun 21-Mar-21 15:47:00

Congratulations on your losses everyone.
I just Googled my BMI which at 9st 3lbs (129lbs) and 5'6" is 20.8 but as you know the calculator does not measure fat and muscle and my tummy remains too fat! My shape in my 70s is quite different to the shape I was when 20 at the same weight. Anyhow I will plod on with maintaining the loss.
Only "One Malteser a day". No way!
Have a great week Pears.

Morning...well done on the losses...I lost a lb this week....happy with that. Am going to be extra strict this week as I got 7lb to go for my own target...the weight when I got married lol.....I can’t believe I’m getting into 12’s, 14 s in some clothes are on the big side now....one thing now I’m in my 60’s, skin is not so elastic, ....I’m not one for surgery though, shall have to put up with the wrinkles....tucking it in is the answer ????
You were saying about psychological reasons Dorset for weight issues , it’s definitely true ... the head rules in everything dosent it?.....

I’m definitely more active now we have another dog....she’s a rescue, 5 years old and is a nightmare on the lead ....at the moment....so toning and aerobics in one when we take her out lol....she is a big strong dog but lovely in every other way bless her....

Yes, , spring is definitely here now at last...been a long time coming....looking for forward to meeting up with daughter and grandchildren next week....outside.....

Have a good week all....

Well done on losses everyone?. People can be rude or abrupt on here sometimes Whiff, although there seems to have been a marked difference in some of the catty posts over past month which is good.
Yes,the Maltesers blew my mind. Such a different mindset and relationship with food.
I'm totally in sympathy with you Shirleyw. A few years ago I lost a couple of stone and for the first time ever skin on face/ neck didnt spring back. It was quite a shock and almost seemed to happen overnight. A month or so ago I was on a video call with a friend and was nonplussed when she said how young I looked! I certainly didnt feel it with scruffy hair and no make up,but she was insistent?. For the next day I was wondering if because I'd changed moisturiser/gone back to natural hair colour etc. Then it hit me-over lockdown I had put a stone on!
I probably hadnt noticed as havent been wearing make up but the neck is once again smooth and wrinkles look less prominent. Oh dear! Not a lot you can do really,I'd much rather be slimmer and healthier. I really wouldnt consider botox etc but at least I will have warning this time. Just in case I'm paying more attention to applying night cream and cream to neck. Not expecting any miracles though so will dig out scalfs?

Dorset I have embraced my weight loss wrinkles. Don't miss my triple chin. Funny even when I was at my heaviest still had cheek bones. In a strong gust of wind with my bingo wings feel I could take off. But only me sees them. Even at my heaviest always had a waist.

Never thought I would wear trousers everyday and feel confident and comfortable wear a top that doesn't cover my bum. Funny how loosing weight changes how you look at clothes. It's only because of my daughter I wear trousers. I didn't know if I would look ok. Still got fat woman mind set. I know I am smaller but seeing that is hard. Even knowing my clothes are 16 and not 32 doesn't make into my thick head.

Had blood tests Monday morning and on the afternoon had phone call from the surgery asking me to go yesterday morning for repeat blood test. It was for renal. Hope it means they have found something. Went on the bus first time since before Christmas. Then popped into the village to get the arm put back on one pair of my glasses and had the other 3 pairs arms tightened.

Had a nice surprise yesterday after my pavers came they said Friday but there was a mix up on a job so the front of the garage had been done. Let me know when they are coming to put the green house and and repair my raised beds.

Lovely and sunny. So after putting my dinner on to cook . Will go and have a potter in the garden.

Have a good day everyone ?

Spent a blissful 3 hours in the garden. Tired now but happy. Tomorrow I will put the plants in. Need to get some more compost. My daughter says she will take me to the garden centre when I want to go. Know my grandson's will enjoy that . Well the other one will the baby will probably sleep.

Hope you all have the sunshine

I totally agree with you Whiff?. It was a bit of a shock at time but for me too the pleasure and confidence that comes from choosing clothes because I like them not because of what they cover is worth a few wrinkles! I think the bit I dislike most at the moment is the weight I see on face and chin. The rest of me is a least hourglass-albeit one you could time ostrich eggs with?. I do envy those who may have extra weight elsewhere but whose faces seem magically slim!
Glad medical issues in hand and you enjoyed your time in garden. Garden centres are such amazing places these days, full of so many tempting things before you even get to plants!
It was beautiful here yesterday, yellow blossom against a back drop of bright blue skies?. Drizzly and quite cold today. Hey ho Spring still here!
