Gordon Bennet Whiff I've lost count of how many UTI's and courses of antibiotics you've had. I wonder if you would be better with a long term, low dose antibiotic. Just a thought.
Disappearing contributors - part 2
On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
However the 2 Gransnetters who have stayed the course from the beginning are Fourormore and Shirleyw who have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow, most of the time ?, and kept up our spirits.
We now have some other excellent new regulars who have joined our ranks and they have brought new ideas and support. Many thanks girls what would I do without you all.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my mantra.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
Please join us at this difficult time in all our lives with the Pandemic.
So Onward and Downward girls ??
Gordon Bennet Whiff I've lost count of how many UTI's and courses of antibiotics you've had. I wonder if you would be better with a long term, low dose antibiotic. Just a thought.
Cocopops got a phone consultation with my GP tomorrow I am going to ask her about having low of antibiotic daily. This has been going on since September. I am the list with the urologist but because of Covid there is a back log.
Sarah glad you have a wonderful anniversary. Sounds you had a romantic day.
My decorators are hard at it. Looking wonderful. Paul who's company it is always used 1400 lining paper as once pasted you can get it exactly where you want without fear of it ripping. He says anything less isn't worth using also any thinner shows any imperfections on the walls. He also uses Dulux professional paints.
Have a good day everyone.
Decorating all finished. That's the whole bungalow done. This is the living room colour frosted grey. Hall is almond white like the kitchen. Let everywhere dry and clean tomorrow. My son in law said he could come after work but said no . Said to my daughter to come Sunday if they are free. I am quite happy in my bedroom.
Spoke to GP my sodium levels are rising. Can't have a low daily dose of antibiotic as only 3 antibiotics worked on my sample. If they did that I could become resistant and then would be down to 2 which I could end up on hospital on a antibiotic drip. Just got to contact them each time I have UTI and send sample to be sent off and wait for the urologist. I am patient so will wait. I know there is a back log for appointments.
Moved furniture and cleaned today. Can't do anymore until my daughter and gang come on Sunday.
My paver phoned last night found a text he thought he sent me. Coming on Tuesday to finish off and put up my green house.
Hope you have all had the sunshine today. Better picture of my colour in the living room and my hall.
Good morning all, I’m pleased to record a half pound loss this week after being indulgent earlier in the week. We’re back to school this week so my activity levels will raise a bit which should help with the loss. We’ve got our grandson staying this weekend to give my DD a break as she is now heavily pregnant and not particularly comfortable. That’s keeping me busy as you might imagine. Hope you all have a good week.
Good morning ladies from a sunny but still bit chilly Dorset.!
Your home improvements look amazing Whiff,it must be very satisfying to see the end result?. I hope you are feeling better and side affects from antibiotics not to bad. My eye has cleared up?.
I'm glad you had a lovely day Sarahmob.?.
Well done Cocopops for being so close to target?.
Fourormore and Shirleyw I totally sympathise!
Last week I lost over 3lb this week I have put on half a pound?. The general direction is still down overall but I'm finding it rather frustrating.!
I must admit I FEEL slimmer and clothes slightly looser.
For most of the week I didnt go over 1500 calories which is the lowest recommended for NHS website to lose one or 2 pounds a week. Note I say most on Friday I had a yung chow rice and 2 mini spring rolls. Although some days my calories were under 1500 and on that day up until then I only had eaten 600 calories that obviously had an affect!
It is rather frustrating and feels such a battle at the moment.!
I am determined which is a plus I suppose,as is the fact I'm enjoying what I'm eating although calorie counting every morsel?.
The temptation is to go down to around 1200. I must admit I am very wary though as I still have 4 stone to lose and if go too low I wonder what will happen further down the line!
I think it's a combination of impatience at wanting to lose the weight and remember how 20years ago as long as pretty much kept to plan lost 2lb a week like clockwork! Now the pounds leap on immediately and getting them off is a really uphill struggle!
So,I think what I need to do is be extra stringent on calorie counting,eg I allow myself a set amount for milk in tea and coffee but will actually measure it out for a few days!
I am toying with only weighing myself monthly. I am a habitual regular weigher during the week. That may raise or lower expectations.! I've always felt Friday is a good weigh in day as allowed for a treat day over the weekend, not really needed past year but will be optimistic!
On the positive side I'm not feeling deprived on calorie counting which makes it more sustainable and bit less disappointing if dont lose/put on!
I think as weight reduces I must re check calories on NHS website and amend.
I will get there I want to reduce fatty liver but also 60 this year. It's not a birthday I'm particularly cheery about so feeling better about myself will help!
Good luck ladies!???
Well done Sarah mob, have a lovely weekend with your grandson?
Hi again ladies?.
Well I just redid NHS BMI / calorie calculation. Over the past 3 weeks my BMI has gone done by half a point and when look at overall picture I have lost a pound a week! The calories have dropped very slightly by 10 a day for new weight.
I must admit it was very cheering. I'm definitely going to weigh monthly. Weekly is great when goes down but I have found the weeks when increase, however small ,disheartening!?
Morning fellow strugglers - well done to ALL of us for keeping at it! It IS SOOOOO frustrating when the scales don't move but we are all sticking together. My blip of putting on 0.2lb last weekend was just that - a blip as this week it has gone - a loss of 0.2. In reality I am the same as I was the week before last which is disappointing but I'm ok with it.
It's much much more than I deserve though (

time to hide behind the sofa and stay there!) - During the week DH bought some beautiful venison sausages - we should have been sensible and having mash and veg with them for an 'ok' meal - what did we do????
I am totally ashamed - he cooked the full British Breakfast - the sausages plus eggs, bacon and fried bread. It was really seriously naughty but it was beautiful!!! It was the only meal of that day but still naughty!
Before you all tell me off I really did suffer for my sin !!! For the first time in years I woke at about 4am with horrendous acid reflux! Serves me right !!!! Never again!
Well done to all those with better willpower! Keep up the good work - I resolve to do better this week!
Your decorators have done a great job Whiff - enjoy!!!
Sarah and four well done with your weight loss. Dorset it's a blip.
Luckily the antibiotics haven't effected me this time but am feeling my normal self. Very glad to report lost a pound this week. But I did stick to my 1200 all week.
Dorset even when I was over 19st I started eating 1400 cals as found 1500 didn't do anything. When I got to 15st reduced to 1400 then went down to 1200 from 13st. And try to stick to 1200. If I go to 1300 - 1350 my weight stays the same. I have to weight myself everyday it's become a way of life like having to take my pressure every morning before breakfast. I couldn't go a whole week let alone a month between weight ins. Only take Sunday's weight as my weight. I was told my fatty liver is for life. Losing weight won't make it less fatty. But this was 4 years ago perhaps the thinking has changed in that time.
Thank you I am really happy with how the bungalow looks. Even brought a new nest of tables. My old ones where brought from MFI in 1981 and are mahogany colour they looked awful with my new walls plus all the rest of my furniture is pine ( over 20 years old but was expensive and is still looking good ) apart from my TV stand which my children and their partners brought my along with a Samsung smart TV for Christmas 6 years ago.
Brought some one coat fence paint. Have never painted a fence before. Started yesterday but found doing 2 panels was exhausting and started to effect my balance. So decided that was my limit a day. Went out a 10 and did another 2. I have 10 panels all together. Not perfect but looking better than they where. Can't wait for my greenhouse to go up on Tuesday. I know it's going to be a learning experience as never had one before. My dad always had one. But never had any interest in the garden until we had our first house. Then my husband always did it . It was his relaxation. Proved him wrong he always said I had a black thumb. But everything I planted is growing.
Four I envy your venison sausages. Where I used to live there was a farmer's market every 2 weeks and a brilliant sausage man. His wild boar sausages and Oxford old spot ones where delicious. Lots of lovely stalls.
Sarah have a wonderful time with your grandson. Soon be nannie again. Lovely.
My daughter and family where here yesterday putting all my furniture back. I had already moved the suite back in position as that stayed in the living room. And put my picture back on the walls. Fed the baby but he wanted to watch his parents and brother nearly had his bottle in his ear again. His like a lighthouse. I must have got the knack back as he went to sleep on me this time instead of wanting his mom.
Have a good weekend. ?
Well done "losers". Dorset I know what you mean re feeling disheartened when the scales show an increase instead of a decrease. There's been the odd time when I omitted the weekly weigh in because I had been a greedy pig that week and I didn't want to know the "orrible" truth! However good to know the NHS programme is working for you. Yay!
Whiff so pleased the painting is done to your satisfaction.
All looks fresh and sparkling in your photos.
I enlisted some help with assembling cupboards and bookshelves for my living area and my apartment looks much better now.
We have a 3rd wave of Covid-19 here with restrictions in place again but the schools remain open.
I am itching to visit my son in the UK for Christmas but that looks pretty unlikely now.Maybe Spring 2022. We last saw each other when he flew over for Christmas 2019.
However it's very warm and sunny here and good to wear shorts and t-shirts again.
I am back to my target weight today so now my challenge is to keep it there.
Hi everyone.?. Oh dear Fourormore, well at least you enjoyed the breakfast! I have found that if I eat something very rich/fatty such as an Indian takeaway the same happens to me so its put me off indulging, which is a good thing I suppose?.
I think I will continue to weigh regularly Whiff, and of course always pop in here ,but the figure I count will be the monthly one.
Your grandchilderen sound so sweet Whiff. Good luck with the rest of the fence!
Well done on reaching your target Cocopops ?. It must be so hard not seeing your son. I cant remember where you live, for some reason I'm thinking Canada?
Times feel very strange, which is probably a bit of an understatement! Here in UK it reminds me of last summer . There seems to be an overall feeling of things being more normal but an undercurrent of new variants, some of which seem quite worrying. I remember last summer a feeling of almost a double vision. Of course now it seems that the much publicised Eat out to Help out contributed a great deal to rise in infections. Cases in UK are lowest since September. At least we have the vaccines this year, which for me personally is reassuring to a great degree. I will now be in the office for one day a week earlier than expected,a week after my second jab which is on the 29th. I'm not particularly concerned as office is as covid safe as necessary, but it is unnecessary as the job can be done from home.! Hey ho!
Have a good week everyone ?
Morning.....glad your decorating is all done whif.
Well done the ‘losers’.....not well done for me though, we went away to the coast this weekend and I very much over indulged lol....2 and a half up....still, back on track again and no more indulgence till end of June .
Like whif I weigh daily, it’s routine now, first thing in the morning before my cup of tea I go on scales.....I got used to it fluctuating but I do understand it can beat some people up. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed as when I go away I don’t weigh myself and it dosent bother me that I missed it.
Exercise wise I now have a ‘personal trainer’ where I get toning and aerobics in one every morning at least....she’s called j...... and is a mastiff cross with pure muscle pulling power ???.
But gorgeous with it. ❤️
Weather is fabulous but they say it will turn cold again. Can’t wait to wear my new summer wardrobe. Have a good week all.
Bum just wrote a long post and lost the lot. Haven't time to redo it as I need to get up now. Will post later
Have a good day everyone ?
Good morning all from a very sunny Lincolnshire. I’m pleased to report a 2lb loss this week - must have been all that chasing around after the children at school! I’ve ventured out to our local outlet centre this weekend - it was so busy! But everybody was being careful and inside the shops felt quiet not too crowded. I also met a friend for lunch after I’d finished work on Friday - that ham roll and coffee never tasted so good ?. I hope that you are all cautiously beginning to enjoy the freedoms that we have been allowed and that you have a good week.
Sarah brilliant weight loss. Lovely to have something to eat with a friend. Glad people are still being careful.
Well it's a good news bad news post from me. Good news stuck to my allowance lost 1.5lbs this week so happy about that will keep it up.
Greenhouse was put up Friday but there must be a piece missing as there is nothing for the bottom door grove to fit into. Have emailed with photos. Will phone tomorrow as they aren't open at the weekend.
Yesterday morning was was eventful. Had chest and arm pain. Different to my usual arm pain. My daughter called an ambulance and got taken to A &E. Had 2 seizures in the ambulance which upset me as haven't had one on a year. Just effected my arms. But had full blown one at the hospital. Thankfully only the 3. I did a sample and saw it was clear knew I had another kidney infection. Had lots of blood tests ,ECGs and chest X ray. Luckily my heart tests all came back fine. Most likely chest pain due to my reflux arm pain weird. But arm went back to its normal pain. The infection and seizures made my co ordination go and I was walking like I was on the moon. Balance was effected. Back on antibiotics for 5 days. Aintree hospital is wonderful the care I get there is far superior to that I got in the West Midlands.
Going to speak to my GP and ask if I can have a prescription to keep at home and get the antibiotics when I have another infection. It's only been 10 days since my last one. Be glad when I speak to the urologist and get tests done and hopefully get treatment .
Just resting today. My limbs hurt because of the seizures.
I am annoyed as I wanted to varnish my bench and paint the fence on my drive. I painted the one in my back garden never painted a fence before took me 3 days using one coat fence paint . Using a 5" brush with angled handle made it easier. It was only 10 panels but I tire easily.
Had a lovely time with my daughter and grandson's on Friday. My grandson decided nannies bungalow need a thorough clean. He loves my micro fibre mitten. I have 2 . We where dashing from room to room . Then every had to be swept and use the carpet sweeper.
Yesterday my daughter said after I was only way to the hospital he needed the toilet. Went into my shower room and asked why nannie not got my potty chair out and my step to wash my hands . When they come I always have everything out ready. Mind you the baby made one of the ambulance men jump. The baby was sitting on the armchair and he didn't notice him , until he found his first and was loudly sucking it.
Hope you all have a good week and have the sunshine. ?
Good morning all?.
Well done Sarahmob?. I know exactly what you mean about the ham sandwich. Last summer I went to our favourite local cafe with my daughter and had a sausage sandwich and a coffee, both tasted like a little taste of heaven. The joy of eating something prepared by someone else!
I havent made it to a cafe yet or even a shop. I dont drive and tbh it's just that bit to chilly here! I have however had a haircut yesterday?. I knew my hair was making me fed up but didnt realise how much until had it done-I couldnt stop smiling! Best of all my SIL did visit with two darling grandsons. In the garden but first time since August. There are no words really♥️.
Today my youngest daughter is having a garden celebration for her birthday. Obviously 6 people, socially distanced, own cutlery etc etc. Strange new world we live in but looking forward to it! I have my second jab this week and return to office for one day the following Thursday. I look forward to enjoying going out this summer, although still with caution.
I know I wasnt go to weigh in weekly but I was amazed to find I had lost 3lb! My weight journey is so strange at moment. The only connection I have to weeks put weight on is when had take away rice! No more for me! Have a lovely week all?
We crossed posts Whiff. Sending massive hugs and?and hope you are feeling better soon?. It must have been alarming for all of you. Love hearing about your grandsons antics and the thought of baby chomping down on paramedic made me giggle. Well done on weightloss?. You are going to be a garnishing expert! Xx
Hmmm that should read varnishing!
Dorset brilliant weight loss. I must book a hair cut soon. Think it was last autumn I had it done. Getting on my nerves. Funny how having a hair cut can make you feel better. I suppose this last year has taught t us to appreciate the little things more. Feel myself in a couple of days . ?
What are we going to do with you Whiff??? You must be rattling with all the antibiotics you have had over the last months. Perhaps your hospital visit yesterday will hasten your consultant appointment? I hope so as you need some answers as to why you keep getting these infections.
Your little GS sounds delightful - enjoy them while they are young as those years are over in minutes. We heard this week that our second GC (GS No1) has a choice of university places! It's impossible - he was only born yesterday!
We are all persevering - having stayed the same for two weeks I have managed to lose 1.2lb this week so am happy to have some movement at last. Why does it go on so quick and yet take forever to go off!
Dorset your lunch out sounds lovely - we haven't done that yet but we have taken our insulated coffee cups out with us on a couple of our walks so we have been able to enjoy a 'coffee out' Like you, we have had some very strong and cold winds this last week - but brilliant sunshine if you get out of the wind.
Good luck everyone as we start another week! Keep up the good work

Four brilliant weight lose. Mr Power seems to be with us at last. No use trying to raffle me off no one would buy a ticket.
Speaking to my GP they might get in touch with the urologist and get some advice about what I could have to try and keep them at bay I will ask. At least I can talk to my GP s they are all good. It's not the pain I have coped with pain for 33 years it's how they stop me living my life as I want for a few days until the antibiotics start to work. Beautiful and sunny here did a load of towels yesterday but haven't the energy to peg out. Very flustrateing.
Morning all....stayed the same....
Weather has been marvellous....chilly first thing but warms up....
Been getting lots of exercise with my ‘personal trainer’ ?. She started training classes yesterday....she was on her best behaviour . J would make a good tracker dog, she’s like the dog in ‘lady and the tramp’.
